Guest Eagan469 Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Preview: Episode 701: I'm A Little Bit Country The boys join some anti-war protesters because it’s a free pass out of school for the day. Their simple plan to protest their way out of class goes south when they find themselves in the middle of the two opposing sides of the war issue. Meanwhile, Cartman tries to have a flashback to 1776 to avoid studying for his American History assignment
Guest Mole Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 Cartman during the American Revolution? That's gonna be gold.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 I'll be there, and I'll have pop corn and skittles
Guest Eagan469 Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 I'll be there, and I'll have pop corn and skittles say you'll have punch and pie - more people will come if there's punch and pie

Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 I was pretty underwhelmed, but I think that always happens when you purposely try to make a big anniversary show.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 that's the thing, I don't think they DID try to have a big anniversary show, they just did a 100th episode ending, the episode was about the war
Guest El Satanico Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 well...that episode was quite odd
Guest El Satanico Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 heh...they shotgunned a baby on Chapelle Show
Guest Eagan469 Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 heh...they shotgunned a baby on Chapelle Show heh - is this a new episode?
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 That might be a problem, I expected something big and got what I would judge to be a below average episode. They only thing I felt was funny was Cartman's attempts to have a flashback. There was so much they could have done with him actually being back in 1776 and all he did was pretty much go back and learn enough to save the day.
Guest EQ Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 I didn't like South Park tonight... I had a few laughs, but that's about it... The opening skit of Chappelle's Show was fucking hilarious. I laughed more during that one skit than I did during the entire episode of South Park.
Guest Mik at Cornell Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 I learned something today guys. I learned that this country was built by some of the smartest people ever. What you fail to realize is that you pro-war people need the protesters. Without them, the rest of the world would think you were war hungry and hate the whole country instead of just our President. And you soft pussy protesters need the pro-war people, because if everyone was a pussy like you the United States would crumble. That's right, you guys, it's called having your cake and eating it too.
Guest Eagan469 Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 Kid: G-G-G-G-G-G Unit! Father: G-G-G-G-G-Get your ass on out of the car!
Guest Ravenbomb Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 say what you want about the episode as a whole, but when Cartman sang the Dawsons Creek song and killed the messenger boy with the log was GOLD.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 My fav. part was the Founding Fathers going "rabble rabble rabble." For some reason I got a big kick out of that. Interesting show, although it felt rushed. And how come there in the teasers there was a bit about a doctor talking about Cartman's "crack" but yet it didn't appear in the show -- did I just miss it?...
Guest Crazy Dan Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 I caught the end of the episode... but I liked Stan at the end shaking his head and "I hate this town" But the beginning of the Dave Chappele show was gold. Odweed's was hilarious. That show is always a gaurantee laugh.
moral suasion Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Interesting show, although it felt rushed. And how come there in the teasers there was a bit about a doctor talking about Cartman's "crack" but yet it didn't appear in the show -- did I just miss it?... They do things like that all the time. The teaser on the commeicial is either not in the show or changed in the show. The episode was great! I love the episodes where Cartman is portrayed as extremely smart or the hero. (episode 501, for example) Those episodes do a lot for Cartman. I also loved that Stan's dad was the leader of the protesters. Great stuff.
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 i thought it was hilarious...i watched it twice.... and I think him bludgeoning the messenger and pulling the old school english accent was great and the "flashback song" was gold The ending, with Cartman being the hero, is something that they shouldn't overdo, but i love it when it happens cause it just pisses everyone else off.....and does Kenny die anymore or did I miss his death this episode?
Guest fazzle Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Nope, Kenny doesn't die anymore. So, now he: A) Doesn't serve his one and only purpose anymore, and B) Takes away screentime from more deserving characters. They shoulda left him dead.
JasonX Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 i thought it was hilarious...i watched it twice.... and I think him bludgeoning the messenger and pulling the old school english accent was great and the "flashback song" was gold The ending, with Cartman being the hero, is something that they shouldn't overdo, but i love it when it happens cause it just pisses everyone else off.....and does Kenny die anymore or did I miss his death this episode? It seems that P&S have retired the whole "killing Kenny every episode" running gag, which IMHO is what they should have done in the first place instead of killing Kenny off "for good" last year...
JasonX Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 that's the thing, I don't think they DID try to have a big anniversary show, they just did a 100th episode ending, the episode was about the war TECHNICALLY this week's episode was not the real 100th episode. This week's episode was supposed to be the season opener with the episode that aired to open the season (which has the references to the pilot, the 100 episode marks, and cancellation) being the true 100th episode....
