Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted April 10, 2003 As inspired by the greatest sportscasting moments thread. But lets be honest, Bill Walton can not just be a part of a thread, he must have his own. My personal faves... *Jamal Tinsley is at the line shooting 2* Bill Walton: This kid is so tough. I mean his mother....she's dying from cancer, lets be frank. I'm lucky to still have both of my parents with me and *Tinsley misses second free throw* WHAT IS HE DOING?What kind of rotation is that? Horrrrrible shot. *Kobe Bryant throws one of his wild "the fuck am I doing?" shots up at the rim and it misses completely* Walton: Kobe is just too good, what are you gonna do Doug Christie? Do you have the heart? Who has the heart? THE DETERMINATION? Kobe Bryant, playing the art that is basketball, one of the greatest of all time, Wilt smiles down upon him. *Kobe Bryant charges into the Spurs lane, takes 4 steps without dribbling, jumps, hops, lands, jumps again, dunks it while the Spurs look confused at the lack of a call* Walton; San Antonio has no answer for that! Partner whos name I can't recall yet always pissed Walton off: Well I doubt it! He travelled! Walton: He's travelling right into the hall of fame, amazing move by Kobe Bryant. Please do humor me by providing your favorite Walton moments.

Guest Rob Van Dam Report post Posted April 10, 2003 "Terrible..." "What's he thinking?" "Throw it Down, Big Man" "(Annoyed Grunt)AHHHH... (insert Waltonism here)" I fucking hate that "Throw it down, big man, Throw it down", everytime he says I want to give him the shining wizard. I hate Bill Walton, damn Shaq hater. Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted April 10, 2003 I live in the Bay Area and Tom Tolbert has a daily radio show. He quite often immitates Walton's voice and his sayings and he is dead on. It is some funny shit.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted April 10, 2003 I love his banters with Steve "Snapper" Jones. I wish he was back doing color commentary on Clipper games. Mike Smith sucks!
Guest Raiden Report post Posted April 10, 2003 I hate Bill Walton, damn Shaq hater. Shaq "hater?" There isn't any NBA broadcaster on a national level that's on Shaquille O'Neal's nutsack more than Bill Walton.
Guest GameCop Report post Posted April 10, 2003 I love Bill Walton's sarcasm~! One example, in particular, that sticks out is: "The sheer greatness that is the Los Angeles Clippers."
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted April 10, 2003 Walton is more concerned with his own quotes that judging good plays. He ALWAYS ignores looking to see if the player travels before he just goes off on how great of a move or dunk it was.

moral suasion 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2003 Have you ever seen the Bill Walton real world-ish show on ESPN? Yes! Its awesome. Its funny and interesting. Its cool that it is very much a reality show but the sidekick guy is put there just to make jokes. I used to hate Bill Walton but now he is my favorite NBA guy. Guest Redhawk Report post Posted April 14, 2003 During the Portland-L.A. game today, Walton said Shaq's free throw form was like a ballerina. Seriously, I like Shaq myself, but dude has one of the ugliest frree throw strokes ever. I also noticed Walton praised Shaq's EVERY move, even the ones where he just ran someone over. Is Bill being sarcastic in his praise due to he and Shaq's little run-in from earlier this year?
Guest Deebo Report post Posted April 14, 2003 "Robert Horry is a genius of basketball and of the human spirit" During Lakers second championship.
Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted April 14, 2003 *Blazers botch up a 3-on-1 fast break today* "That had to be the worst fast break in TrailBlazer history" Man, I wish he did Cleveland Cavalier games; he'd have a field day. He could use a month's worth of material on one half.
Guest ISportsFan Report post Posted April 14, 2003 I absolutely loved it when he did the NCAAs last year and he did some of his sons games for Arizona. "What a terrible pass by Luke Walton." And tons more, all mocking his son. Jason
Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted April 14, 2003 Walton can be genuinly funny with his sarcasm at times. I personally find it more entertaining when he goes onto a long hippy rant though... "Michael Jordon, an overflowing fountain of ability, natural grace, technique, determination and a spirit unmatched by any man of this modern era" Marv Albert's responce to that is even better "Yes!" He sounded legit inspired by it.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted April 20, 2003 In today's game, Kobe Bryant was double-teamed and tried a fadeaway jumper. He airballed, but Robert Horry caught the rebound and dunked it. Walton: "What a pass! Teams get confused by the Lakers when they throw those lob passes. You think it's a shot but it was really a pass." Then, later on: "The Lakers are always moving. Always thinking, flowing, dreaming as one."

Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted April 21, 2003 I think it was the '96 Olympics that NBC was short on announcers so they had Walton covering Water Polo by himself at one in the morning. I vividly remember him standing by the pool before the match holding up one of the balls and saying, "this is a water polo ball...it's smaller than a basketball...and it doesn't bounce as well." Hilarious shit, he didn't know a damn thing about water polo. I wish I would have taped it.
Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted April 21, 2003 Man I missed Walton doing water polo? Man that would have been classic. It might have actually scored a perfect score on the Unintentional Comedy scale.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted April 22, 2003 Throw it down big fella Shawn Bradley is playing at totally different level.
Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted April 22, 2003 I remember listening to the Jim Rome shwo one time. Tom Tolbert was the guest. And he had mentioned that Walton compared to Bradley to Olojawon's greatness.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted May 11, 2003 Bill Walton = Tony Schiavonie of basketball Shaq = Hogan Bring it Down, What a Pass, What a Block as some of the most used phrases by Bill.
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted May 11, 2003 I like him and Tolbert together they seem to play off each other well. I also like how he is questioning how Shaq can be getting fouled when he runs into the defenders and knocks them out of the way. I have been wondering that myself for years yet the announcers never seem to mention it. And before anyone else mentions it, yes I know in the NBA stars dont get called for fouls like that. Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Report post Posted May 11, 2003 The man has tons of knowledge of the game. Too bad he's a fucking moron. He is the worst commentator since Magic Johnson.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted May 11, 2003 Tim Hardaway seems to get the honor of being the worst announcer on ESPN for some reason. I did not notice it myself but then I rarely watched the pregame or half time show on ESPN. Bill Walton is probably the biggest Shaq mark in the world right now. Bill: Just give it to Shaq, he can drawl fouls on Tim or David.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted May 11, 2003 I don't think Hardaway ever called a game; he was just a studio analyst. And, yes, he did suck at that but I found he was very entertaining to watch in an unintentional comedy sort of way. Best Tim Hardaway quote: ===================== Tim: "My wife does all the Christmas shopping." Kevin Frazier: "Well who buys stuff for her?" Tim: (thinks about it for a sec) "SHE DON'T NEED NOTHIN'!" Guest ISportsFan Report post Posted May 12, 2003 "Kobe reminds me of the late, great Paul Westphal... Who is still living. He's just not playing basketball anymore." - Bill Walton, 5/11/2003, Spurs v. Lakers Jason
