Yes it is.

They also say this is going to be the last series of Fire Pro...

That's PS2? No offense but I was expecting better graphics. Those look like the GBA versions.

I love the Fire Pro series though and I'm sad to hear that's the last one. Does that mean no more GBA ones either?

Just to clarify...you can play the game with full English menus?!

Is there a good PS2 converter to play it on a US PS2 out?

As one to never have played the Fire Pro series, I hope this gets imported being the final Fire Pro title ever.

Think of a 2D wrestling game with an engine comparable to an AKI wrestling game (a la No Mercy and its ancestors).

Yeah, kinda like that.

There are in the recent Fire Pro games...

weak, middle, strong, and ultra-strong grapple moves

physical attacks

running attacks/counters/grapples

ground holds

turnbuckle running attacks

turnbuckle grapples

top rope moves vs. standing or laying down opponents

you get a designated finisher

you can focus on a body part and attack it

there are springboard moves from the apron into the ring (even Rey's old WCW springboard hurracanrana!)

the topes and running flying moves out of the ring are in

You have to BREATHE when you get a break or else you'll get out of breath and weak.

The Fire Pro games also had the most in-depth Create A Wrestler there had ever been up until recently, and still stacks up to any of them.

Plus, wrestlers from all over the world are included, plus legends, MMA guys, American wrestlers (WWE, free agents, etc) and of course TONS of Puro guys. However, to avoid copyright problems, the names/colors of the wrestlers may be altered. So you might see Austin in as Chilly McFreeze who finishes his opponents with the Kick-Wham-"Deep Freeze." You have the option to rename of course, and "trade" between the organizations.

I haven't even described all the modes of play. Fight in the octagon? Sure. Fight in an exploding barbed wire deathmatch? That's fine, but if you don't win in the time limit the ring goes KABLOOIE! The standard Battle Royale, tag team, 6 man tag (looks like...eight man tag is an option in this one?!) are included.

I'm sure there's stuff I left out...

Oh, the one thing fans of the series often complain about: no weapons other than the forks/sickles that guys like Pogo pull out as if it were a standard move.

The Fire Pro games on GBA are bar none the best portable wrestling games ever, and the series itself still stacks up there with any wrestling game as far as depth of gameplay.

However, the graphics, animation and sound aren't very much enhanced since at least Six Man Scramble from the Saturn. So it looks rather 16-bit. That doesn't hurt it much, especially when you consider that with all the different styles and modes of play it may be the deepest wrestling console game ever with the most character choices ever.

If it makes it to PS2 here in the States, you can bet your ass I'll buy it, and you should, too.

Looks like doesn't extend to the edit modes and such, which would have been pimp if it had. Still a welcome addition though.

The PS2 is not import friendly, unlike say the DC where all you needed to play an import game was a DC-X disc. Could always go the mod route, but I hear they aren't all too hot for the system. I bought a JPN PS2 just for KOC and Fire Pro (well, and a few other titles).

Unlikely FPZ will come to the US, especially after BAM's financial problems.

I'm patiently waiting for the first price drop to claim the GBA SP and Fire Pro 2 as my own. FPZ would be a nice bonus since I already have a PS2.
