Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 10, 2003 First off, I am not using spoiler tags! this is going to be 99% spoiler anyway, just don't go any further if you haven't finished the series. ALSO, I just finished the show, so I have a lot going through my head and this is going to be a long post. I first got into the show last summer when I got the first season DVD set cheap, after that I was hooked. I got the second season as soon as it came out and Kazaa'd the rest. I finally finished the show today with the last episode. Overall I guess I was alright with how the series ended. Could have been a lot worse. But they left a lot of doors open, most of the characters still have a storyline that isn't finished. Right now I'm just going to go down the list of major characters that still have unresolved issues. Miguel Alvarez: I think he's my favorite character overall, him or Ryan. When the show ended he pretty much was just screwed on parole. Then he just kind of drifted off into this drug deal all because of it. They didn't conclude anything, I was hoping he'd get a happier ending. And they never said why Cutler gave everything to him when he died. Zahir Arif: After the book binding thing went south and he had his falling out with the other Muslims they seemed like they were going to do something else with him, but they just did nothing. And nothing was finished with Burr over him ruining his business. Tobias Beecher: Alright, Toby killed Vern in the final. The best thing Oz did was keep Vern alive till the end, cause it made for great conflict. But they didn't have a chance to follow up with if he was going to narc on Keller or not, they seemed to be building to that before Keller killed himself. He had a possible parole coming up. Agamemnon Busmalis: They stopped with him when he got throw into confinment after attacking the guy who decided that he couldn't inseminate his wife. Seemed like a cop out to get him out and move onto the next thing. Ryan O'Reily: Seemed weird with the show ending and he didn't even have a scam to pull. His story seemed rushed with Cyril dying and him making peace with his dad, and the whole thing with Dr. Nathan. Poet: Other then the small part in the play they didn't do a thing with him. They didn't finish up with him and the other homeboys wanting to go back to selling drugs. And Burr never found out that he gave Hill the drugs in season 5. Chucky Pancamo: They hinted at him becoming a drug adict in the last episode, but didn't do anything else about it. Like a lot of the others they seemed just to give him something for the sake of doing so while they finished bigger storylines. Bob Rebadow: There really isn't much to finish with him. But if they were going to have the storyline with him and Stella they could have at least done a little more with it at the end. Burr Redding: Like Busmalis they seemed to just toss him into confinement at the end to get him out of sight. He was becoming one of the most interesting characters near the end. James Robson: This guy was a great heel...around the Arians anyway. But when he got near Sister Pete he wussed up. In the next to last episode they gave him HIV just to get him off the screen with him leaving to unit F in the last episode. I wish they would have went into this more with him dealing with the disease. Gov. James Devlin: I wish they would have shown the aftermath of the investigation to Glen. Devlin was a good heel and it would have been a nice little send off to actually bust him. Officer Claire Howell: In the last ep you find out she's knocked up, but they don't say who did it. Like Robson I think this could have been good if they'd have gone into it more. Tim McManus: When Querns takes over as warden he pretty much tells Tim he's fired in a month unless Devlin is throw out of office...but they don't get to that. Officer Dave Brass: ...well...he shot Jackson in the last episode. Just went crazy for no good reason. Seemed more like just a way to get him out of the show then to put in a real storyline. They also left shit open with other minor characters. The guy who killed Said and White, I know he was a nut and all, but what a lame reason for killing Said. I was also a little disapointed that they didn't finish up with the "Dead Men Talking" thing in season 6. That would have been nice. Also in the last season, they were too quick to kill off people. Keller commited suicide, Vern was stabbed, Cyril was put to death, Hoyt was stabbed, and Chico overdosed...and that was just the last episode. They also killed off Said, Morales, Kirk, Peter Shabeta White, and Leo Glen in the last season. Not to mention tons of minor charcters. So, anyone else think that there could be another season of Oz in time? I could easily see just one season or a handfull of episodes in a year or two. None of the main chacters are in high demand it seems. And most of them with with Tom Fontana in other shows as it is. I'll definatly pick up the seasons as they put them out on DVD. Damn...I'm tired.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 10, 2003 Thought there was a movie in the works?
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Report post Posted April 10, 2003 They've said there's no movie. They did destroy the set after the last season wrapped, not that it guarantees anything.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 10, 2003 I'd kill for OZ outside of Prison...Show that about 10 of them escaped and show their lives...
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted April 10, 2003 Well if too much times passes, it may be hard to get a commitment from the ENTIRE cast.....so it better be soon. The last season did feel rushed, it probably was since I don't think it was originally gonna be the last episode.
