Guest Mole Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 I don't know if this has been posted, but I just saw it at 411, so I thought it was interesting. Incredibly, some betting houses do take bets on WWE events. Olympic Sports is going to be doing lines on all WWE PPVs from now on. The bets are limited to only $50 per match. They did take Hogan/McMahon and Angle/Lesnar off the books, because they felt insiders would know the winners of the matches too easily. The William Hill Agency once took bets on wrestling, but stopped when the brand extension occurred, due the confusion over the two world titles. In addition, they lost a lot of money on the ‘wwe champion by years end’ in 2001, with Chris Jericho paying 16:1 odds. credit: Wrestling Observer Newsletter
Guest The Tino Standard Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 This is unreal. Who in their right mind would be on anything they KNOW is fixed? I mean, the COMPANY ITSELF will tell you the results of its matches are pre-determined.
Guest Lightning Flik Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Why don't we all just make the same pics and go raid these guys of their money?
Guest HHH123007 Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 I'm there dude..... I'll make some money on the next PPV.....unless they don't take bets for Rock/Goldberg...
Guest Lightning Flik Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 I'll make some money on the next PPV.....unless they don't take bets for Rock/Goldberg... Dude, just have polls to decide who's going over and then we have the lists of all whom we believe more or less will go over (sometimes we will get surprised, but otherwise no); WE RAID THOSE BASTARDS OF THEIR MONEY~!
Guest HHH123007 Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Sounds good to me....making easy money rules!
Guest MARTYEWR Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Don't Harlem Globetrotter games also get wagered on? Anyways, I could see why Olympic Sports would try to cash in on this. People DO like to predict these sort of things, yet not that many are as good you'd think (only the ones that really know their stuff, much like any other sport). For instance, I know a CHUNKLOAD of people who actually thought Booker T was going to beat Triple H at WrestleMania. Yeah, weird, huh?
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Damn, that is some easy money to make right there......
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 OMG! Where do I place my bets? I'll put $50 on HHH to win any match vs anyone not named Shawn Micheals or Kevin Nash (at a PPV for the Big Gold Belt)
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 I think this is the place, but Im not 100% sure.. They dont have anything about WWE, but they are taking bets on Survivor and American Idol so it could be possible..as well as UFC (under Boxing..) http://www.thegreek.com/ Link provided for ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY!!
Guest TheArchiteck Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 It's gonna be a lot of smarks with some full pockets.
Guest AndrewTS Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 OMG! Where do I place my bets? I'll put $50 on HHH to win any match vs anyone not named Shawn Micheals or Kevin Nash (at a PPV for the Big Gold Belt) Indeed. That's probably the only way he'd job. "You mean a bunch-uh of smarks are betting their hard-earned cash-uh that I'll go over? Well then, I'll fix them..." *jobs in a PPV match with tons and tons of interference*
Guest CED Ordonez Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Where's the bet for "After losing the World title, HHH regains belt next night on Raw in a clean squash?"
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 What happens if a match ends in a DQ or no contest?...
Guest Imarkout4chrisdaniels Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 What's stopping Vince or some others have friends place bets for whoever is going to win so he can add to his bankroll?
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 What's stopping Vince or some others have friends place bets for whoever is going to win so he can add to his bankroll? WWE is not smart enough to think of this
Guest Lightning Flik Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 WWE is not smart enough to think of this What about the wrasslers? They'd be smart enough.
TheFranchise Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Uh... yeah. I can just see Theodore Long walk into a bookies now, watch a black man bet on somebody who is facing Triple H, then after he loses, give a Back The Mack speech.
