According to former Guns 'N' Roses guitarist Slash's Official Fan Site (www.snakepit.org), Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland is one of the singers currently auditioning for the vocalist slot in the new band formed by Slash and fellow ex-Gunners Duff McKagan (bass) and Matt Sorum (drums), reports blabbermouth.net.

Other singers known to have tried out for the position include Sebastian Bach (ex-Skid Row), Kelly Shaefer (ex-Neurotica, Atheist), Travis Meeks (Days Of The New), Mike Matijevic (Steelheart), Pat Briggs (Psychotica), A. Jay Popoff (Lit), and Joshua Todd (ex-Buckcherry).

Scott Weiland is reportedly finishing up work on his second solo album with producer Josh Abraham (Staind, Orgy, Crazy Town). Among the songs set to appear on the as-yet-untitled effort are "Drop That Baby", "If Only I Could Fly", and "Big Black Monster". A late summer release is expected.

Edit: Damnit! Can someone fix the title to "GNR"

Cool but Travis Meeks=modern day Rose.

I don't think he could be in a band and not be in control.

And fuckin' Kelly Shaefer, were the fuck did he come from, I was a huge Atheist fan back in the day. Same with Pat Briggs.

If they stay true to the Appetite sound I'd go for Todd.

I think they're just trying to bring in name guys just to make the TV show better at this point.

damn...too bad Use Your Illusion is gone. He seemed to be up on the GnR goings-on.

Josh todd is probably the best choice, imo.

Weiland fronting would be interesting.

I say pick Todd to go full-time...but also release a cd with all the different singers. Different songs, old/new, on each record.

As long as they don't get the guy that sang for the last Snake Pit album I'm fine with it. That guy was TERRIBLE. I thought the original Snakepit singer was really good. I thought he really fit well with the band. He was kinda like Axl but yet completely different. If they'd use him for this band I'd be ecstatic.

Hopefully, this second album is better than his first. That first one was horrible.
