.Lo And Ben To Play It Again

Hollywood couple J.Lo and Ben Affleck have secured a deal to remake the classic movie Casablanca, according to reports.The pair are said to be delighted with the multi-million pound deal and are now in talks wirth American producers.The original film was a hit in 1942 starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.

 

Affleck will take the romantic lead as Rick, the Daily Star reports.

 

Lopez will play the former lover who had jilted him but comes back into his later life - married to a French resistance leader.

 

Actor Ben is reportedly a big fan of old movies and the project will give him a chance to indulge his passion.

 

It will not be the first time the two have appeared on screen together - they recently starred in the hit romance Jersey Girl.

 

A friend said: "They are overjoyed at the propspect of being in Casablanca together.

 

"It is the chance for them to show how much they love each other through their on-screen chemistry."

 

I thought the Bible said there were seals placed by God or something to prevent this kind of stuff from happening?

I for one would like to see this happen. Not because I think it'll be any good, but I relish the thought of the re-animated corpse of Bogart beating Affleck to death with a tire iron.

 

However, if this does get off the ground *shudder*, it would be interesting to see who would play the other parts. Who could be Ugarte? Laszlo? Renault?

More than likely they'll change the ending, which will kinda make the whole exercise pointless. I wonder who'll play Peter Lorre's character.

Well the thing is that Lopez is not a bad actress. Not a great one, either, but she's decent. I just can't stand the singing and the whole "she's fricking everywhere" thing.

 

But anyways, by the time this thing gets off the ground, Lopez and Affleck will have separated, and this'll be one of those things up for grabs in the settlement.

Did this movie come out already and I missed it? I thought I would have heard the massive hype that "Maid in Manhattan" got with both of them appearing everywhere at once. Either that or it's a sign to come, so get ready for another round of J-Lo talking about mundane crap with Diane Sawyer or whoever did that primetime interview with her.

This to me has "bad idea" written all over it. Man, I wish Hollywood would come up with some original ideas, instead of remaking film after film. I mean who really wants to see Casablanca get redone. It was not like the original screams remake. But maybe this time they can redue it with the alternate ending that we all saw in the Simpsons, so that it can have a happy ending. Or maybe they can get Gus Van Sant(sp?) to reshoot shot for shot in the style of his remake of Psycho. Boy, I can't hardly wait.

I wish they would simply make better movies. I don't care if they're original or not; I just want better made movies that don't strive for the lowest common denominator.
