Guest Steve J. Rogers Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Considering I see the major domestics get trashed here, thought I'd get poll or something started. My personal favorites, in no particular order: Massed produced domestics: Budweiser: Got to go with the King. Probably the most classiest comercials as well (for the main brand) They are the ones that started it all really with sports advertizing on the national level. Sam Adams: Good former micro-brew made good. Great line and has that "Import" taste that makes the dorm room crowd think they are being classy Imports: Henieken: Probably one of the best ales in the world. Amstel Light: Who says there no such thing as a good light beer? Guinness Stout: I'm Irish, this is like Holy Water to me Killigans Irish Red: Good for St Paddy's day and you don't want to fill up on Stout, Harp Lager is good if you can find it as well Bass: One of the best beverages you can find Steve
Guest T®ITEC Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Miller High Life was delicious, at the time. So was that Budweiser... When I'm older, I want to try every beer.
Guest Ace309 Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Amazing. Simply amazing.
Guest CED Ordonez Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 I haven't sampled many beers, but I find a Sam Adams to be my beer of choice at the moment. EDIT: In case people are wondering, yes I have had San Miguel, but don't think too highly of it. I just enjoy the fact that they sponsor a basketball team and that's why they are in my sig.
Guest Harry Hood Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Saranac, it's kind of a local thing, but they have good specialty brews.
Guest El Satanico Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 I can't stand Budweiser products. They are too foamy and causes your stomach to bloat after drinking 4. Heineken is nasty skunky shite. I'm more of a whiskey man, but when i drink beer my beer of choice is Strohs. Sure it's not all that great taste wise, but it's cheap, is pretty potent and you won't feel bloated like you do after drinking foamy Bud products. It's a great beer to play "Quarters" with. Killians Red is my preferred "high class" beer and is what I get when drinking at a bar.
Guest Ace309 Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Saranac does indeed make a damn good beer.
Guest Krotchenjudge Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 You ppl drink beer? Nasty~! Wine spritzers only for me. OMG Fo Sheez~! Krotchenjudge
Guest HungryJack Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 *cracks knuckles* Let's see here; being a Canadian, of course I enjoy our typical beers , those being Labatt's Blue, Molson Canadian , and Kokanee, which is more of a Western Canada thing. These are our cheap beers, our Budweisers if you will, and they're still far superior to any American swill crap. Also, you can't go wrong with Harp's Lager, Smithwick's Ale, Caffrey's irish ale.
Guest dreamer420 Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 What a tough question. I have a few to list. 1. Budweiser 2. Kokanee 3. Canadian 4. Becks 5. Corona 6. Heineken
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 1) Rickards Red 2) Guiness Stout 3) Tetleys English Ale 4) Moosehead 5) Sleeman Honey Brown Lager 6) Sleeman Cream Ale
Guest Incandenza Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 My current favorite is Red Stripe.
Guest DrTom Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 My current favorite is Red Stripe. HOORAY BEER~! My personal faves: Domestic: Yuengling (lager and Black & Tan), Sam Adams, Pete's Wicked (Ale and Strawberry Blonde), MGD. Import: Newcastle Brown Ale, Corona, Sapporo, Bass, Guiness, Harp.
Guest Kinetic Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 I'm poor, so obviously I'm an expert when it comes to 40 oz. bottles beer. I had some King Cobra tonight and that's working all right for me. And at $1.29 for a big ass bottle, it's the economic choice for the cash-deprived alcoholic. I go for Schlitz and all that, too. And, of course, $1 Pabst night at any club or bar is the highlight of any week. If only Wal-Mart had $1 GPC night for the smokers among us. But, yeah, I just drink whatever. But generally just 40s and cheap-ass bottles of Pabst.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Have you sampled the ever-popular Magnum Malt Liquor, Kinetic? Perhaps some Thunderbird. It's not a beer or anything, but as far as something that tastes vaguely like generic fruitloops with a kick, that doesn't make you go blind, it's worth a try. Only about 2 bucks a bottle at most liquor and grocery stores. It's impossible to drink two bottles without puking.
Guest snuffbox Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Guiness Extra Stout Coors Light, the Silver Bullet Miller High Life Old English 800 Budweiser Locally brewed Huber Bock
Guest Incandenza Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 I'm in no postion to toss money away on expensive beer, but fuck it. I refuse to drink Pabst. So many fucking indie dorks drink it at the various hipster clubs around town, and it's putrid. They claim to drink it for the price, but I swear it's become an image with them.

I'd be willing to bet that it started out of financial necessity and slowly became a status symbol for the poor and inebriated. It's rampant amongst the young indie rockers and hippies here, too. (This place has a bizarre dichotomy. 75% of the residents are hicks, obviously, but there's this thriving community of indie rock dorks and punks and hippies and they all co-exist peacefully. That might be a wartime thing, though.) But I think 40s make more sense financially, just because someone with a relatively low alcohol tolerance (such as myself) can get sufficiently drunk for less than $2.
Guest Incandenza Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Once I lower my standards to the point where I'll drink Natural Light just to get drunk, I'll be in trouble. Until then, I'm something of a discriminating alcoholic.
Guest Sturgis Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 I'm more of a hard liquor man myself but when it comes to beer. Busch is personal favorite. I also like Bud Heineken, and I always had a thing for Red Dog.
Guest RepoMan Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 1. Labbatt's 2. Molson 3. Amstiel Lite 4. Bud Ice

Guest NoCalMike Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Here are my favs: Sam Adams Heifweizen Newcastle St Pauly Girl(a great alternative to Hieniken) Maudite(some wicked shit, a bit more pricey, but you can buy it in a 32oz bottle) I am not a fan of the malt liqour 40oz specimen, but I have been known to throw some down when the price was the most important factor. Natural Ice can get the job done. St Ides is nasty but it also does the trick.
Guest El Satanico Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 The best malt liquor is Mickeys...but no one seems to remember or know that it's a malt liqour. Also Mickeys wide mouth bottles are the best common beer bottles.
moral suasion Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 My current favorite beer is Lebatt's Blue, but it changes all the time. I also like Corona, Heineken, Rolling Rock, and MGD. I tend to stick with the classics
Guest SweetNSexyDiva Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 I'm not a big beer drinker, but I like Miller High Life, Pete's Strawberry Blonde (okay, so it has been a while and I wasn't exactly sober when I tried it...not sure if it would taste the same today! lol), and my favorite is Karl Strauss, but not from the grocery store... It is da bomb right at the brewery!
Guest NoCalMike Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 I totally forgot about that New DARK HEINEKIN. That stuff fucking rocks.
Guest thetrendsetter Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 1. Keith's 2. Kokanee 3. Coors Light
Guest JHawk Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Get me a Corona Extra or a Sam Adams and I'm satisfied. But you mean you people actually drink for the taste and not for the sake of getting drunk?
