Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted April 12, 2003 This is my favorite match of Megumi Kudo, and my MOTY for 1996, (just a hair better than Ohtani vs. Dragon). If anyone with a lot of experience in Joshi has seen it, I'd like to hear their opinions on it. The fact that the match is an electrified barbed wire death match gives it the illusion of being a typical death match (no workrate beyond the violent bumps) this could not be further from the truth. Kudo and Toyoda do some of the best WRESTLING I've seen out of FMW.
Guest Coffin Surfer Report post Posted April 12, 2003 A very good match, but MOTY in 96? Dude, this is the same year as Ohtani/Sammy, Ohtani/Lyger, Ohtani/Dragon, Ohtani/Benoit. Not to mention 12/6/96 and the rest of the Misawa/Akiyama storyline. Hell, Kawada/Taue CC was better than this. Still, it is a an incredible match. From what I've seen of her, Kudo probably does the best selling of her career in the final 5 minutes or so, her whole body is literally trembling in pain with every movement. You can tell she was watching alot of Hokuto before the match. Probably the greatest Death Match of all time, yes, even better than Honma/Yamakawa.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted April 12, 2003 Wow...so I actually like a puro match that a purohead at TSM likes, and we agree on the quality of it? ...hey, look...the sky's broken, and the pieces are falling down... ...what's that, Lucifer? You want to borrow my sweater because it's too cold?...
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted April 12, 2003 Is 5/5/96 the match that is on the FMW King of the Death Match tape?
Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted April 12, 2003 That's the match Rob, even John Watanabe and Eric "Jackass" Gellar can't drag down this match with their constant use of the term "mother in law" to describe Toyoda
Guest ConspiracyVictim Report post Posted April 13, 2003 Yeah, luckily ive got that whole Anniversary show so I dont have to put up with the crappy commentary...its a great match and I think it is right up there for greatest deathmatch ever bc it wasnt just a deathmatch for the sake of a deathmatch...it had purpose. Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted April 13, 2003 That's because ICP are an awesome announcing team. When they make a FAT FUCK BARREL BOY match seem like a classic, then you know they rule.
