Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted April 13, 2003 I just wanted to rant for a moment about "The Logical Song" by Supertramp. For those who don't know it was a track on the band's opus: Breakfast in America and is an indictment of what the band sees as Conservative upbringings killing the spark of individual creativity that great artists showed in the past in the name of "disicipline." What I wanted to say is more about the music itself, and not the message of the song. The song is insanely catchy; maybe the most "catchy" song of it's kind ever created. This comes not only from the amazing synthesizer work, but because the vocals are so beautiful. The words are delievered at machine-gun pace, and almost, at one point to the rythem of troops marching. (1:29) I honestly think if the song was about 4 mins longer, it would be considered the greatest song of all time. It's verses are better than most hooks, it has a caustic wit and great energy, and combines many elements seamlessly. As it stands now it feels almost unfinished because of the length (Or lack thereof). I mean the song climaxes at 1:31 for Christ's sake. Discuss.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted April 13, 2003 It's by far the best song Supertramp ever did, IMO. I like it for precisely the reasons you already laid out.
