Guest OSIcon Report post Posted April 13, 2003 Sounds like dumb booking. Why not just put the Briscoes in the tournament to begin with? Jobbing Styles in the first round also sounds like a bit of a waste.
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted April 13, 2003 Sonjay Acid going on now, really good, a lot of high flying from Sonjay.... Acid with Yakuza kick to the back of Sonjay's head.... Homicide Shows up and gives Acid the Cop Killa! Dutt wins with the stardust press!!! Homicide made his CZW debut! MOTHERFUCKING HOMICIDE IN CZW! FUCK YEAH! It sucks that it was a run-in, but it's FUCKING HOMICIDE!
Guest DRAWMUH! Report post Posted April 13, 2003 This is one fucked up tournement and could've been booked so much greater with Homicide, The Briscoes, and AJ making their debuts tonight. If AJ got to face Cross in singles they could make an actual wrestling ***** classic o ra ***** spotfest
Guest My Eyebrow is on fire Report post Posted April 13, 2003 eh styles probably wanted too much money to wrestle more than once in the tournament
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted April 13, 2003 B-Boy is BOTB3 Winner, defeating Sonjay in the finals with seventy billion Shining Wizards. Or something like that. Full results, to the best of my knowledge. First Round Trent Acid & Ric Blade d. Tony Mamaluke Sonjay Dutt & Ruckus d. Chri$ Ca$h B-Boy & Lil' Cholo d. Derranged Jay Briscoe & Jimmy Rave d. A.J. Styles & Jason Cross Nate Hatred wins Battle Royale, demands World Title shot. Second Round Trent Acid d. Ric Blade Sonjay Dutt d. Mark Briscoe (Cash attacked Ruckus before begining of match, Mark took Ruckus' place.) B-Boy d. Lil' Cholo Jay Briscoe d. Jimmy Rave Third Round Sonjay Dutt d. Trent Acid (HOMICIDE comes in, hits the Cop Killa on Acid, Sonjay hits a Stardust press to win) B-Boy d. Jay Briscoe (Mmmmm, stiffness and headdropping) Messiah d. Nick Gage to retain title, after Hatred hits a spinebuster on Gage Final B-Boy d. Sonjay Dutt to win BOTB3 Fuck I'm tired, and I wasn't even at the show. I'll get reactions from the czwfanboysboard, and emax will post his shit if he's still alive.
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted April 13, 2003 Forgot to mention this, but CZW apparently has a one year exclusive lease on Viking Hall. Why, I don't know, 3PW seems to be happy in the Electric Factory. Take that as you will, as I will take it as weird.
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted April 13, 2003 Did the show just end?
Guest EMAXSAUN Report post Posted April 13, 2003 Some of the booking was a little fucked tonight, but it really didn't matter, the show was off the hook, as well as the ROH show. I am fucking tired, two wrestling shows in a day really wipes you out. And although I was mad about the way Ruckus was eliminated, this way he still gets to keep his title, and the CZW lease on viking hall was a great announcement. And for all you attendance marks, the place was packed, and extra bleechers were there, I would say over 1200.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 13, 2003 Doesn't sound overly impressive. I don't have a problem with B-Boy winning as long as they can book him regularly. I think you gotta keep the BOTB name on someone you can use often. I thought Messiah would win. I think they'll keep it on him for a while.
Guest ManKinnd Report post Posted April 13, 2003 The crowd was absolutely rabid for Styles, and the fact that they had Jimmy Rave move on instead makes my head hurt. First round was all good, but then the worst battle royale in the history of professional wrestling that went on for a little over eternity totally killed my mood. Some okay stuff in the second round, but I can only take so many spots and sequences. It's usually broken up by some hardcore stuff, but they can't do that at BOTB, so it's just spot, spot, highflying, repeat. Sonjay vs. Mark Briscoe gave me a headache for a good 10 minutes. Sonjay was about to win with his corkscrew 450 but then Frank the Athletic Commisioner rang the bell and said the time limit expired. At 5 minutes, with a 15 minute time limit. I know sometimes these are inaccurate in wrestling, but COME ON. So Zandig comes out and restarts the match, so Sonjay can win in another 5 minutes with the same move. WHY NOT LET HIM WIN THE FIRST TIME? What the hell was the point? Ugh. Decent show that went waaaay too long, as BOTB always do. Why have B-Boy win instead of Sonjay? Oh well, at least I got to hear B-Boy's kickass music again! B...BOY....B....BOY.....B.....BOY! Ring of Honor's show kicked the SHIT out of CZW last night, especially with that 40 minute Dragon/London classic.
PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2003 I guess no Zandig/Rebel thumbtack strap match Anyone really care that match was canceled? The show was long enough. I think the booking does look a little off.. but the show sounds incredible, B-Boy deserved it.
Guest EMAXSAUN Report post Posted April 13, 2003 Yeah the booking was off, and Mondo wasn't there, but still a great show overall, not as good as ROH, but then again ROH is ROH.
Guest Miss Indy Queen Report post Posted April 14, 2003 I thought Best of the best was a good show. The crowd seemed to turn on the show a bit for the battle royal, which was way too long in my opinion, and when AJ got cut in the first round of the tournament. Everyone started chanting bullshit and who booked this shit (NY Crowd started this one). Apparently Ruckus legitimately got hurt, which is why he was bumped out of the tournament but I'm not sure how. It was a little confusing how they didn't explain Mark Briscoe being in the tournament but I thought it was really good. Sonjay vs B Boy at the end was really good but I think the crowd was burnt out by the time this came on as well as people were already leaving during the tournament. Overall a good night for wrestling fans in philadelphia.
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted April 14, 2003 I don't mind the Briscoes being there, but I'm not happy with the way they were just thrown into the tournament. Though, it's probably better then those two being inserted into the battle royale for no reason.
Guest Phoenix Fury Legdrop Report post Posted April 14, 2003 Forget "bad booking"...the Rookie of the Year, Everybody's Best Friend, and Roy's Buddy, SALVATORE F'CKING RINAURO~! debuted.
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted April 14, 2003 I'm guessin' this tape is now "must buy" for SC now. Of course, he's not alone, but most likely for different reasons. Dammit paycheck, hurry up and get here so I can spend you already. Suckas got priorities.
Guest Miss Indy Queen Report post Posted April 16, 2003 I didn't like the way the Briscoes were thrown in the tournament either. I mean I knew briscoes were in CZW before, but there were people around me who didn't even know the briscoes were in CZW in the past. It just wasn't explained at all. I mean with Jay, they had AJ cut a promo on how he beat them at ROH, but Mark they just threw in there with no explanation. I'm going to get the tape anyways because I'm sure it'll come across better on tape since I was physically and mentally burnt out that night.
Guest EMAXSAUN Report post Posted April 16, 2003 You can already get the tape at http://www.smartmarkvideo.com/, in fact some people have already recieved their copies. You want to get this show though. Even though there was some weird booking and mishaps, the quality of the wrestling was fantastic. Even though the battle royal was terrible and I was tired as hell, I still loved the show.
Guest Miss Indy Queen Report post Posted April 16, 2003 Smartmarkvideo is very quick and on point with their tapes. Too bad RF Video can't learn the same concept.
Guest OSIcon Report post Posted April 16, 2003 RF is pretty slow, but there are tapes are a lot more involved in terms of editing, added stuff (promos, video packages, ect.) are other bells and whistles. They still take a lot of time, but some of the reasons for that are understandable.
