TSM Def Jam Vendetta review

BTW DVD_Spree. Spider (I think that's the guy you haven't played) is fast and can seemingly just about kill all of the lower tier guys without much hassle at all.

Not a problem. You might wanna suggest him for people who are having a difficult time pulling off moves. With his speed, it's a little easy to topple the early guys. Heck, I made it to the first tag match without using a Blazin'.

Then again, I went as Briggs first time aroudn and made to DMX on Easy Mode and only lost 5 times in the process of getting there (then losing once to the handicap match after DMX). Which is quite simply hard with Briggs if you just evenly build up his stats. That and I'm still not sure how to get different moves to work. I seemingly am always pulling off four of the same move because my controller "apparently" hits that button.

It was a good rent. I'm almost tempted to buy this...

...problem is, I'm broke.

Briggs is the best of the 4 story-mode characters. I have his stats built-up so incredibly high (so that each new point should cost about $1500, heh) that it's really easy to win with him. Only stage I'm having difficulty with is the 3-on-1 after DMX. The same tactics I use in No Mercy's handicap matches is working, but I need to keep using the same moves so I can hurt them...but they just won't stay down long enough...and that small one, Pockets, is annoying as hell...

Thanks dude.

You know about the Freeloader/Action Replay, right? Let's you play import games on a PAL machine, and it works pretty damn well. It's under £20 at http://www.play.com, and I've got a review of the hardware here: http://thesmartmarks.com/artman/publish/ar...ticle_739.shtml

If you don't want to import, the PAL version is released on May 23rd.

I know that. In fact, I'm quite the import nut myself. But I'm almost broke right now, so that's not an option. I also want to finish some other games first, especially Metroid Prime.

Awesome review...too bad it's not for XBOX. Did EA have AKI when they had WCW by the way? Because it certainly would of been better if EA had AKI make Mayhem and stuff instead do it themselves.

No, because Mayhem came out before No Mercy, when Aki was strictly with THQ.

I'm hoping that EQ/Aki make DJV2, maybe call it Def Jam {fill in cool revenge-ish name} instead, and build in a CAW, more stories possible in story mode, and more match modes.

AKI were totally trying to fit in a CAW, since everyone knows it's one of the things they do best, but the truth is they just couldn't get it done in time for deadline. It'll be in DJV2, don't worry.

Yeah, this is the first time AKI have worked with EA - I'm not sure who developed that piece of crap Mayhem, but AKI would probably come and kick your ass if you said it was them. If only THQ weren't such a bunch of assheads AKI would still be pumping out No Mercy sequels. If anyone's to shout at, it's them.

Well, them and Yukes!.

Both Mayhem and Backstage Assault were developed by Kodiak Interactive (according to IGN).

Anyway. I'll just wait for the sequel, or at least until DJV drops down to the standard Greatest Hits price (which it hopefully will). There are other things I need money for, and I'm still content with No Mercy as it is.

In the 3-on-1 I usually target the lil guy, Pockets and build up my Blazin Meter so that I can KO him and the match is over.

A good thing to do would be to build up your Charisma attribute because that's what makes your Blazin meter rise the fastest.

I was amazed at how easy D Mob is. Probably luck, but I took him out on my first try with Briggs. The three-way wasn't too bad either - I ended up just beating the shit out of Pockets outside the ring until I got another special then kept wailing on him til he fell the fuck out.

ACtually, the fights that give me the most grief are with the women. They're VICIOUS, I tell you.

I also found D-Mob easy because there are also no ropebreaks in the match against him. Every time he hits the mat and you can't KO him with a Blazin special, I grabbed his legs. I focused on them constantly with a few grapples here and there and got an easy submission win.

I'll be sure to target that fuckwad Pockets in the future then. Haven't played the game in a week or so due to time constraints.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I've got a bunch of stuff here I've hardly touched: I've only just reached the first 'snowy area' on Metroid, I'm on the last level of Die Hard, but I haven't bothered playing it yet, I'm only on the third mission of Jedi OUtcast, and only the SECOND level of Bounty Hunter. And I got all this shit before Christmas - this doesn't bode well for Burnout 2, or the bunch of Hong Kong DVDs I've just picked up.

...no, I mean I've been researching Bret Easton Ellis for a 7-page thesis due April 28th, looking for a job, checking out colleges, looking for bands to audition for, playing my ass off on guitar, working out, etc.

Like I said, I know EXACTLY what you mean. I've got a 12,000 word dissertation, a 5,000 project, two 2,500 word essays and another project of 2,500 words, plus I live with my girlfriend three days a week, I'm looking for a new job, then I spend the rest of my time writing 6,000 word videogame reviews and taking hundreds of grabs for this place. I meant that I don't have time to PLAY all those games, not that I don't have any time because I DO...

Hey, April 28th! That's when all my degree coursework's got to be in too! Snap, baby!

There was a certain unfortunate turn of phrase that I unwittingly used in the review, and I have since removed it.

I apologise to anyone to whom it might have caused offence, and assure you that it was not my intent. The review is now fit to be enjoyed by boys and girls of all ages.

Your reviews are really cool DVD Spree. I probably won't bother with importing seeing as I only gotta wait a month or so. Do you know if that Ultimate Muscle game will ever make it over here official?

What the hell did you have in it that offended someone? I didn't read anything that was offensive.

The line where it says "A few gripes aside" used to read "A few niggles aside", and it was pointed out by a certain individual how this was in bad taste, as apparently is my gay bashing. It was also pointed out that my writing is juvenile and offensive, and that I don't cater to the rap-loving audience.

Thanks for the props, dude. Ultimate Muscle is, in theory, due for a US release around May, but I haven't heard anything on that in a while. It might be worth peeking at the official Bandai site (sorry, don't have the address) or even the http://www.gamefaqs.com board on "kinniku man".

I love this game. Now this is how you do a wrestling game.

I do have a question about the game. I have unlocked all but two characters in the game, and I was wondering if any of you have been able to unlock them, and what do you need to do? Thanks for any help yu guys might be able to give.

It's either you have to do the career with two people for one of them, and four for the other, OR just do it with all four to get them both.

I just used a code for those last two, but that's just me.

When you complete the game, every character is unlocked. The last two characters you unlock are D-Mob and Funkmaster Flex, so I'm guessing those are the guys in question. Basically, once you've beaten D-Mob, he's yours, and for completing the game, you get Funk Flex, too.

I think I may have missed the point of the question, so feel free to ignore that post.

the last two characters i unlocked were deebo and omar, the two bouncers. in order to get both, you have to complete storyline with three of the fourcharacters. then and only then will you be able to have ALL characters.
