Guest snuffbox Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Jason Mewes, Jay of 'jay and silent bob' fame has apparently finally gotten himself into rehab. And itll be filmed for HBO. Heres a link if your interested Jason Mewes story
Guest Youth N Asia Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 I heard that a few weeks ago. The first story aired last year about the police looking for him. Can't feel too bad for the guy though, he's making good money and being given special treatment for being a celeb.
Guest Downhome Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 While I don't care for him, or almost any of the movies he has been in, I do wish him luck. I always find it very respectable when one finally looks head on, and gets help when needed. I just hope the idea of it being recorded and on HBO does not hinder him somehow.
Guest El Satanico Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 being given special treatment for being a celeb. Oh please...he's only a celebrity amoungst fans of Kevin Smith's movies(which i am). Outside of Kevin Smith fans he's not a celebrity at all. And getting followed by HBO camera's while going through rehab is hardly special treatment. HBO does these kind of shows already and he's probably the first semi celebrity that admitted to being a herion addict and allowed their cameras.
Guest Lethargic Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Jason Mewes cleaned up? That'll be the end of his career. You know the guy won't be funny at all sober.

You know the guy won't be funny at all sober. technically, his character was a stoner, not a junky. So that doesnt really change I guess. But Id definitly prefer the guy to be happy/clean/healthy than to be making me laugh.
Guest NoCalMike Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Is this story from a credible source? Because I remember last year there were numerous false stories that surfaced about him dying from a heroin OD, or just missing for months on end.

Im really not sure about the credibility of the story, i just dont know anything about the source. And HBO execs 'declined to comment'.
Guest MrRant Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 My question would be why Kevin Smith hadn't pushed for him to go to rehab sooner? Or has he?
Guest RedJed Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Yeah its definately easier said than done to get someone in rehab, thats for sure. They pretty much have to either get really fucked by the law or else hit rock bottom for them to finally come to grips with doing it. I cant say this really interests me in that they are making a reality series or something out of it. In fact I think its VERY screwed up. If he's kicking a heroin habit, thats some serious shit that shouldn't be catered to cameras. I can see that maybe some might think it could help people see the reality of rehabbing, but I don't think putting a celeb in the mix of the message is ideal.

But someone like you or I would have been tossed in prison and not be given the other options.
Guest Nevermortal Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Well, I don't blame the guy for being on H, with Kevin Smith not making Jay/Silent Bob flicks anymore....
Guest Vern Gagne Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 My question would be why Kevin Smith hadn't pushed for him to go to rehab sooner? Or has he? Maybe he has. It's very possible that heroine started to run Mewes live, and something had to happen for Mewes to open up his eyes and get help.
Guest DVD Spree Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 This doesn't have anything to do with heroin, but I'm sure the last time I saw Mewes he'd had all his hair cut off. And like most young guys who do that, it took YEARS off him. Seriously, he looked about twelve. Anyone know if I'm right? And oh man, I bet the guys who did that article spent WEEKS looking for the best picture to compliment teh story. http://www.pagesix.com/seven/04072003/cele...ynews/56325.htm
