Guest DVD Spree Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Here's the thing. Obviously, I've been playing Def Jam Vendetta pretty much non-stop to write the review for the site. Most of my time on it was done on the Panasonic Q, but when I donated it to my girlfriend so she could play Animal Crossing and have a DVD player, I started playing on my official Nintendo Cube. OH MY. I've had this before, but nothing like this bad. Basically, whenever I play a match and teh instrumental tunes loop for the BGM, the tracks skip like absolute crazy. The laser unit in the CUbe is going all over the frigging place and making noises like it's going to explode - seriously, it sounds like someone twanging a ruler in there, and it's really fucking disconcerting. As I say, I've had this before. SEGA Soccer Slam does it a little bit, and very occasionally the music in Monkey Ball 2 MOnkey Golf skips twice, then it's okay again. BUt this just sounds plain worrying. My CUbe's in great condition, and always has been - hell, as soon as I bought the Q, my old purple hunk of plastic has been virtually retired. Has anyone else had these kinds of problems? Maybe it's just my copy of Def Jam, although it works fine on the Panasonic.
Guest razazteca Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Was it an import game and did you swap disc?
Guest DVD Spree Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Nope, it's the US Def Jam and a modded Cube (which is, for all intents and purposes, a US Cube) - no Freeloader/AR or disc swapping. The Q is Japanese though, and that works fine.
Guest razazteca Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 maybe it has something to do with the mod chip
Guest DVD Spree Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Nope, there areno mod chips in modded cubes - just a dollop of solder (US and Japanese Cubes are IDENTICAL inside, with a region select switch to select which territory to sell it in). I think I'll try another copy of Def Jam and see what it does.
