Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted April 15, 2003 Last night I was doing something I always do on Monday Night and of course I mean watching RAW. For the most part I think that fans bitch and complain way too much about the product that is delivered to all of us wrestling fans week after week. But last night I saw something that not only insulted my intelligence but it pissed me off too. The thing that I hated sooooo much was that the WWE just couldn't resist peddling merchandise at the same time of trying to get a tired angle over. I don't understand this at all. I don't care if JR "quit", hell Ross gets on my damn nerves. I don't care if Austin was "fired". He'll be back soon enough. I don't care about Bischoff's boring GM character anymore either. I care about "WRESTLING"!!!!! Go figure a wrestling fan that likes to see WRESTLING?!!?!! I thought the matches last night on Raw were solid and yes, I enjoyed the show, but stop breaking my concentration of loving the sport of wrestling by trying to sell me useless crap that I wouldn't buy for half of the shitty price that they were trying to sell it for. sorry if you don't like it, it's just the way I feel............... Guest mickberna Report post Posted April 15, 2003 I'm starting to think that they are purposely filling the weekly shows with crap and nothing but crap so that we'll buy the PPV's for wrestling. It's gotten to the point where we know the world titles will never change on free TV, so we have to get the PPV's to see anything memorable. It's a screwy strategy, but maybe it works. Guest evilhomer Report post Posted April 15, 2003 That's kind of a double edged sword. Give away a title change on free tv, and it hurts the buyrates of the PPV. Why give away a huge money match for nothing. On the other hand, keep overbooking title matches to bullshit finishes, and ratings are hurt, or worse, disinterest is created, hurting the buyrate of the PPV. It's a delicate balance to give away money matches on free tv. You have to give enough to keep the fans interested, but not too much because you want to keep them hungry for the big PPV match. Regarding their peddling of useless shit, yes it's annoying, but that useless shit makes up for a great deal of their revenues. Just one of the things we have to put up with to keep the product in front of us.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted April 15, 2003 You know, it's funny that you mention this, because it was pretty much the topic of conversation over at my house last night. I couldn't believe that they were shamlessly promoting WWE Shopzone shit on RAW live. The funny thing is, my friend was going to actually buy the package. He doesn't have a credit card anymore though, and it was credit card orders only. Had they taken Check, Money Order or Paypal...
Guest Downhome Report post Posted April 15, 2003 I loved that tag match on RAW last night so much, that it just about made up for just about everything else.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted April 15, 2003 The 2 shirts themselves would go for $50. Throw in a WM 19 Book and a Bottle of JRs Slobberknocker sauce and it seems like a good deal for only $39.95.... Hmm..
Guest RedJed Report post Posted April 15, 2003 Thing is that those shirts are always ridiculously overpriced at 25 a pop ANYWAY.
Guest Luke Cage Report post Posted April 15, 2003 Hey, at least they're being honest now. The only thing left is to start WWF shows with a "the following is a paid advertisement" graphic and the journey of North American wrestling would be complete.
Guest art_vandelay Report post Posted April 15, 2003 I thought that whole thing was done to put over Bischoff as a heel that shamelessly promoted shit on TV? It was pretty funny watching it happen.
Guest MentallyNormal Report post Posted April 16, 2003 Only if they would of shown that timer like they do on HSN and took a phone call. That would of been pretty funny.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2003 Everything about the WWE is overpriced, and has been for years. I refuse to pay 35-50 bucks for their PPVs, because quite frankly there has not been a match that would make me want to shell out that kind of scratch.. and to the lowest, hottest hell with their "merchandise". I forget where I saw a rant on the crap they sell, but it was an informative one. It has been said a million times by a million different people, but its true. They're looking to fleece the sheep who mindlessly buy into whatever crappy storylines they float out there, making a ton of money off the PPVs and the "merchandise". Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted April 16, 2003 I have a Cheat 2 Win shirt, a Team Angle shirt, and I plan to buy the next Angle or Benoit shirt that doesn't suck. I buy DVDs of good PPVs, and I buy DVDs of "decent" PPVs if they are marked down. (I paid full price for Summerslam 2002, but 15 dollars for Royal Rumble 2003). You would have to PAY ME to walk around in public in an Austin shirt, due to the statement that it would make about me. I went to a SD taping last month. That's about the extent of my WWE financial support.

Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted April 16, 2003 Coach: My GOD how good is HHH, the game? He is a total throwback to wrestlers like Harley Race and Nick Bockwinkle and is the best in the business... This pimping has been brought to you by HHH, the game, the best in the business. Just remember: It's his game, you're just playing in it.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted April 16, 2003 I remember when they shilled their stuff on HSN after Wrestlemania 16. Now that was painful, since the dude that was trying to sell the stuff had no clue whatsoever about the WWF.
