Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Report post Posted April 15, 2003 JR has frequently said the current roster is the best ever assembled (not hard considering there is no comp)...but, I think the roster of 1992 pushes it pretty hard. What do you think? Just comparing the main eventers and mid-upper card wrestlers is pretty tight... 1992 MAIN EVENTERS Piper Ric Flair Hulk Hogan Ultimate Warrior Macho Man Sid Justice UPPER CARDERS Ted DiBiase British Bulldog Bret Hart Shawn Michaels Texas Tornado The Big Bossman Jake Roberts The Undertaker The Mountie Sgt Slaughter 2003 MAIN EVENTERS SCSA The Rock Goldberg HHH Brock Lesnar Kurt Angle The Undertaker UPPER CARDERS Jerichio Benoit HBK Edge RVD Kane Booker T I tend to think 1992 shades it given the rest of the roster, but maybe I am bias given I have the benefit of hindsight, and we do not know how good this roster will be until a few years after we see it in action. Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted April 15, 2003 92 had bigger names, 2003 has better wrestlers. Also, when did Piper ever main event a card in 92?
Guest Mik at Cornell Report post Posted April 15, 2003 I think the midcarders were better back in the day. Sure, they couldn't work that well for the most part, but they were damn sure memorable. My friends and I still talk about them all the time. *Note I was 10 years old in 1992, so that may have something to do with it.*
Guest EricMM Report post Posted April 15, 2003 What about 2004? Call it premature, but do you think that the workrate will rise to the top again as it did for a period in Smackdown, or do you think it will languish in the midcard? I mean particularly in the cases of the main events, since it could go either way on both shows. If somehow Jones starts fueding with Brock without picking up some more skills, it would lead to a bleak Main, I don't even have to mention the various ways that RAW could start sucking main event wise. I just keep hoping Jericho will get his break so I can start watching regularly again. Or at all again.
