Austin or Rock are the only people who can draw in the 4.0 or above ratings.

Put him up against mid-carders and let him run roughshod over them, to build up interest again. Vince's idea of saving "major talent" debuts (pauses for a moment to laugh at the idiocy of Nathan Jones falling into that little category  ) until the next PPV is ludicrous. Goldberg coming out and spearing Rock was a passable start, but he should have wrestled the following week and every one until the PPV, so people could start getting behind him again.

This actually makes sense. Whet the marks' appetites before the main course with the "real superstar" the Rock. Yeah, he'd probably have to squash the smark favorites in the process, but they aren't going anywhere anyway.

Although it doesn't have to be anyone of real status. Have him kick Tests' ass. Spear, Jackhammer, goodbye. They can fulfill their agenda of punishing Test for some stupid political reason AND have a better chance on selling this Goldberg/Rocky match at the same time.

Oh yeah. I'm using logic. Oops. That's a dirty word in WWE.

I'd rather them harp on his WCW record than what they're doing right now. That is what made him famous. That is why people care about him. Until he gains momentum in WWE, why not remind fans of his past successes? They'll probably care more about him that way.

Because nobody cares about WCW. The fans have been trained to treat it as garbage. If they are going to push Goldberg they have to start from scratch in WWE and have him work his way up.

But why should I care about Goldberg then? He is just a cheap Austin rip-off without WCW. And since Goldberg was supposily one of the bright spots in the latter WCW, it isn't unbelieveable that people care about him because of WCW.

Right. Mention it in passing, but don't harp on it. WCW is dead. Killed by politics and Russo. Buried by VKM, before he whizzed on the grave.

Start over new, and maybe you'll make it work.

Whoopie.  Let's talk about a dead organization.   Let's regale fans with tales of his many pinfalls on Hugh Morrus.  Let's say "OMG HE DREW HUGE RATINGZ ON NITRO!~"

Who gives a fuck!?  That was 5 years ago.  Live in the present, not the past.  Have him start making an impact in WWE, not talking about how he did in WCW.  Some better packages would help, but he's still got the stench of WCW reeking on him.

They've got him main eventing a PPV in a couple weeks. If that's what you decide to commit to, there's not enough time to start Goldberg from scratch. It took months to get him to super-over status in WCW. Took forever for Brock too, really even more so since they had to feed him several main eventers. If you want Goldberg to be main event-over right this minute (which they do) then I think you have to give him some background.

Then you don't put him the main event of a PPV. It's quite simple.

Sure, but it's a little late for that I think.

Yes, I know ideally they should GET HIM OVER before sticking him in the main event of a PPV. There are two major factors preventing that, from my perspective.

1. Vince is an idiot. He no longer plans long term; he wants quick-fixes. Nash and Steiner were both cemented for a PPV shot on the PPV after their returns. Vince doesn't care how well force-feeding them to the fans goes/went.

2. Goldberg the egotistical money-grubbing asshole wanted lots of cash and immediate main eventer status. So Goldberg got it. He has no loyalty to WWE and no interest in the long-term survival of it. So he'd rather get his money quick and scram rather been being made a midcarder who needs to "work up" to the main event. Vince is an asshole too, and Goldberg hates the company anyway. So, realistically, would you do any different in that case?

Yep. I'd tell Goldberg to go to hell and start working on making new stars.

Hopefully if ratings like this continue it will convince Vine that there is no such thing as a quick fix (though I doubt it). I also hope the ratings continue to nosedive every time the Kliq is the centre of the show, to ram home the point that these guys drew fuck all 7 years ago and that they are going to draw fuck all now. However all of this relies on Vince to stop sucking HHH's cock for five minutes and realise what a mess of his company his is making, which is doubtful.

What I meant was: If you were Goldberg and in that position, knowing Vince is an asshole, do any different?

(This is assuming you are the greedy yutz who doesn't give a shit about the business that Goldberg is.)

I think Goldberg probably didn't budge on what he wants out of WWE, and thats why it took so long. Vince got desperate and gave into his demands. I think thats the sad reality of it since Goldberg already vetoed getting beatdown by Rock last week on Raw.........it didn't take long for Goldberg's creative control to already come in handy apparently since Vince gave in to his bitching and Goldy got his way.

The only thing they can really do to build guys up is to put them over guys who matter. Since Rock is the only one willing to do that for them, after Goldberg gets the win at Backlash he's going to be on his own and out of luck.

I predict Nash will be the first to get a win over Goldie in the WWe, proving that he's still the smartest man in wrestling.

If I was Goldberg? Sure, I would probably do the same thing.

I thought you meant if I was Vince, would I push him to the main event in his first WWE match.
