Guest Smues Report post Posted March 23, 2002 Ok so I was stupid and when I bought my laptop they were sold out so I had to settle for the display model, and it works fine, but they sorta forgot to tell me that they put a BIOS password on it. It's not set up so you need the password to boot up, but I really need to get into the bios now. Don't supposed anyone knows some tricks to get around a BIOS password. Guest areacode212 Report post Posted March 23, 2002 Hmm. On some Dell desktops, there's a little thingie you can remove from some pins that will disable the BIOS password. Laptops are probably a bit trickier. Can't you just go back to the store and ask them for the pw?
Guest Report post Posted March 23, 2002 hmm, sounds like youbought a stolen laptop and can't figure the shit out. I know cause that has been brough to me a few times. Try taking out the board battery and the main battery for like 6 hours, then back on,it should reset the bios. There are other ways but I am to lazy to look for you, sorry --Rob
Guest Smues Report post Posted March 23, 2002 It's not stolen I bought it legit at Costco back in August, I just didn't realize till a while after I bought it that they forgot to get rid of the bios password, and I doubt they'd even have it now(unless they just use one pw for all the display computers). I'll give them a call and see if they have it I guess.
