RVD received the best reaction last night on RAW

However, he should probably be turned heel and have a manager.  Perhaps "consultant" Paul Heyman could cross-over and serve as his mouthpiece.

I've been waiting for him to turn on Kane since they started teaming up.

That'll never happen. Vince logic states that the little guy has to be the face because he has to be an underdog against a big guy. Well except in the case of X-Pac but after '99 he was always a heel. As much as a heel turn would do for RVD he'll always be a face.

And Heyman and RVD would be pretty cool.

I guess you don't remember when X-Pac turned on Kane...

Hell, everybody has turned on Kane. He's the Sting of WWE. Maybe Kane and Sting should tag when the Stinger arrives in June...the two guys who have been double-crossed more than anybody in the history of the biz.

RVD is their crossover breakout star if they get their head out of their asses. They could market him in movies. Hell, send Jean Claude Van Damm to the OVW trainers and throw them in a PPV match. I'd push the stoner hints regardless of what is PC and what Dave Shearer, etc. think. If we can have characters on sitcoms, movies, etc. be stoners - why can't WWE? He could be the WWE's Towlie for all I care.

Tajiri would also be great in movies, IMO...

First of all, RVD may be over, but that doesn't mean he's ready for the main-event. Personally, I think he sucks. He lacks all the things that the top man on RAW needs. How can you honestly say that RVD should have the belt? You are blind to your own hipocrisy if you think so. Let's look at some of the more important traits that the Champion should possess:

Drawing Power: Decent, at best.

Mic Skills: Sub-par

Personality: Sub-par

Offense: Sub-par

Selling: Excellent

Finisher: Excellent

Look: Excellent

So, as I see it, you have a person with a good look and a finish. He'll sell well for his opponent, but it doesn't seem like he has enough offense to be believable in the ring. He's a spot wrestler with pitiful ass transition moves. But, without charisma and good mic skills, the fans won't care about him. Sure, when I went to a RAW house show earlier this year, I was glad to see RVD, but he didn't come anywhere close to putting my ass in that seat. I was actually more pleased to see Sean O'Haire and Shawn Stasiak than RVD.

Now how can anyone say that RVD is better than Booker T? Do you even watch the shows?? Booker T is just as over as RVD. Sure, Booker needs a better finisher, but his offense without it is leaps and bounds better than RVD's. His mic skills are far better, and he makes the fans want to see his matches.

RVD, AS IS, has "mid-carder for life" written all over him. He needs to STOP being in pointless feuds with Kane and the such, he needs to STOP being this sorry ass "high" face, and he needs to stop being such a damn overall baby face. He'll never be anything more than he is now untill he turns heel, and begins to be the cocky sonofabitch that he is meant to be. He's the type of guy that people will love to HATE, that's when he'll get his spot, in my view.

I don't get this...how can is drawing power be decent at best if he hasn't even had the oppertunity to draw yet? And the fans love his matches, which means he's doing something right with his offence.

I still say RVD is not a complete lost cause. He barely EVER has to job clean and that can be viewed as a version of protection from the brass in order to keep from damaging his future. I am holding out hope that Vince and co. aren't completely lost at seeing what the have in RVD.

I still think they are just waiting for the perfect time to turn his heel. I just wonder if people would even give a damn if he did so against Kane.

I would rather watch Kane turn heel on RVD. RVD is best as a tweener in my opinion. Kane sucks, but at least if he's heel it seems like he's alright when he's getting booed.

He still sucks? RVD has the most exciting offense in WWE, with the possible exception of Rey Mysterio.

I think he has the most repetitive offense in WWE.....woohooo, kick punch, monkey flip, lil dual kick thingie, into rolling thunder into 5 star. Not his fault, but still, I wanna see wrestling, not pusedo-MMA. well, maybe, but still. RVD shuldnt be in purgatory, but he doesnt deserve the strap(not now). Thats wat the IC Title was for....RIP

I disagree with this. RVD was being protected to an extreme degree the first half of last year--he almost never lost, when he did it was due to interference, and he was always made to look like a threat (even against the Undertaker). They wouldn't even let him lose to Brock except at KoTR--and he later got that job back with another DQ win, if I'm not mistaken.

After he lost to HHH though, he has been pretty much buried. Not even counting the travesty that was the special ref match. He's taken numerous pinfalls with only token cheating/interference. Jobbing to a Bubba Dudley elbow drop on the Heat before Mania cannot, in any way, be taken as being protected, nor can his job to Morely a couple weeks ago. RVD was being actively protected before HHH, but not since.

About RVD's deficiencies--he's better than HHH, Taker, Nash, etc. in almost every way, shape and form; I don't think too many people would disagree with this. The only thing HHH might have on him is "mic skills", but really, he's just living of off his reputation on that one. I'm sure HHH's boring interviews have caused a net decrease in viewership if anything; RVD's interviews, no matter how bad, are simply too short and trivial to do anything of the sort. Even if his interviews were longer, I'm sure they could gimmick them enough to make them harmless.

As for overness != drawing...there is NOTHING else to go by when it comes to drawing. Yes, one does not lead to the other--but if you ain't over, you ain't drawing. Talent/workrate is also sometimes important for drawing, but only in the sense that talent should be the main reason you get over; so while RVD is no Eddie, or even Chavo, his overness means that he should probably be pushed before they are (this is just an example; Eddie should be pushed to the fucking moon). It is simply logical. RVD has a chance to draw. HHH has proven, without a shadow of a doubt, that he is not a positive draw. The little evidence we do have indicates that RVD would be better than the current status quo. Looking at this from the business side, other than Rock, Goldberg, Booker and Jericho, there is really no one on Raw that should be pushed as much as RVD.

This was just posted on the http://www.RobVabDam.com Website. It's letters like these that show RVD is one special guy. I have always had a lot of respect for him since his ECW days. He cares !!!

Hi, my name is Billy Patterson. I went to my very first RAW in Sacramento a couple of days ago and I was very excited. I was with my mom, and she is diabetic.

Towards the end of the show, she started to pass out and had to be wheeled to the backstage for treatment.

I was not only bummed to miss some of the show, but I was scared. Then I saw Rob Van Dam in the hallway as

they were wheeling my mom back and, instead of just ignoring me, he actually took the time to ask me what happened and was generally concerned. He then calmed me down and told me everything would be alright and took a picture with me.

A lot of times you look up to somebody who is famous and they turn out to be real jerks. Well RVD, you touched my life. I've admired you since your ECW days and for you to be concerned and care for a complete stranger, I admire you even more. Thank you so much RVD, I'll never forget what you've done for me.

You know, I read a lot of letters like this one, and it makes me pause for just a moment and think "Ya know... I am pretty cool." Rob Van Dam
