Misawa-taue 9/95 pimping

For those of you who think Taue was a below average worker, you really should see this match (Misawa vs. Taue 9/10/95).  It's such an eye opener if you compare this to where he was as a worker in January of that very same year.  Coupled with his performance during the Champion Carnival '95, it really is one of the greatest turnarounds I've ever seen.

A perfect contrast would be to watch Misawa's next TC defense against Kobashi (10/25/95) and you can plainly see that Taue had surpassed Kobashi in the ring at that point.  Sure he would fade away in that aspect in 1997, but as Tim mentioned before, from 4/95-12/96, he was better than Kobashi as an all-around worker.

It's a great match and a high point for Taue as a singles wrestler.  Granted, I haven't seen nearly enough of him during that period (which is changing as the tapes keep coming on in), but I would be confident that the 9/10 match is his best singles match ever.

From watching Taue's 1990-1995 (pre April 1995), I didn't really mind *most* of his work.  Sure he was clumsy and very akward at times, but when you have Misawa, Kawada (pre 93) and Kobashi carrying you, along with working with either Jumbo or Kawada as your partner, you have something good going.  But he really becomes more than carryable post 4/95.

Yea, but then again, the Kawada v Albright match on that same night killed the main event.  I would look towards other work.  7/24/95 Misawa v Kawada is better (@ least the last time I watched it), but Taue v Misawa hangs with it for the most part.  Go into 1996 and the 9/10 match beats almost every singles match (minus maybe the 3/31/96 Misawa v Kobashi, which I have yet to see).

I still think that is true.  But then again, Kobashi post 1993 in singles matches other than 1/20/97 and 10/21/97 and 6/12/98 really bothers me for the most part.

I initially thought the 4/15/95 match with Misawa was his best singles match ever, but watching 9/10, I can see a much more confident Taue in there, nothing flashy, but very smart all the way.  Misawa's performance wasn't as strong, but Taue's improvement more than made up for it.

Sure, the Misawa-Kawada is better--it's much more advanced than the Taue match, but to me the Taue match is more interesting because it was something that we hadn't seen before out of Taue, while Misawa-Kawada was its usual great match.  Regarding the 3/96 Misawa-Kobashi, I'd highly recommend it.  It's probably Kobashi's best singles match since the 10/93 match with Kawada.  I've always felt that this was the first time Misawa and Kobashi really "clicked" together.  If you continue to watch their interactions throughout 1996, you can see that they were heading towards something really special, with 1/20/97 being the result....
