Guest Johnson1620 Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Since I am an old guy I doubt to many people will appreciate this thread. I hate just about all the new music out today. The Black album (Mettalica) sucked. Load and Reload swallowed But finally after 15 years we have finally got a good Metallica album. St. Anger is the bad boys of metal going back to their roots. And after hearing a few tracks from the new cd, I must say I am stoked. Their back!
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Actually you sounded like most of the people in the music thread in that post. So everyone will probably appreciate this thread.
Guest El Satanico Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 You know...2 or 3 years ago I would've loved hearing this. I just don't give a shit about the band in any form now. I already have their real roots so screw faux vintage Metallica.
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 I'm one of the few that liked Load and Reload so I'll check it out. Not saying this album is like those, but I'm less likely to hate it than others.
Guest Johnson1620 Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 From the songs I heard it sounds more like Puppets and Justice. Two of my favorite albums of all time. I also heard the music from Sandman II. It sounded pretty good, but without vocals it's hard to tell.
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Isn't there a non-symphony version of - Human on this album?
Guest Johnson1620 Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Isn't there a non-symphony version of - Human on this album? I haven't heard it yet, but from what I understand there is. Do you know the release date?
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 I'm guessing they also refined it since it was admittedly unfinished/unrefined when they used it in the S&M concert. No I don't know the release date.......I think it's in June or July. Let me go look it up.
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 The album comes out June 9th in Europe and June 10th everywhere else.
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Here's a nice pic of Metallica to go with it.
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 And here's the track list. Looks like some of those demos didn't even make the final cut: Frantic St. Anger Some Kind of Monster Dirty Window Invisible Kid My World Shoot Me Again Sweet Amber Unnamed Feeling Purify All Within My Hands
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Oh and if you haven't figured it out yet most of the "demos" floating around the net are fake so who knows what we've actually heard of the new album?
Guest NoCalMike Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Hmmm.....Kirk Hammet has grown his hair back out. So that must mean within 6 months he is either quitting the band, or will be thrown out. Really though, I am well past caring about Metallica. Since I was around 17 I went on to find much better metal bands and have no time for Metallica to try and "win me back" by "going back to their roots" I think it is disgusting how all these radio DJs pimp everything and anything with the name Metallica stamped to it, while the whole time ignoring the fact that half their fan base has said they have sucked since 1996. I almost don't care if the new Metallica is good or not. I aint buying it. If it is on the radio and it is decent, I simply won't turn the channel, but after the last few albums, and Lars' bullshit lash out at his OWN FANS...this band will never get another fucking penny out of me.
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Oh and incase you were wondering I got all my above info from metallica.com so it's accurate. That really is the tracklist. Seems we've been had with all these "demos"
Guest Choken One Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 They had 4 years for this Album and only churned out 11 songs...?
Guest BAR Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 I've been a long time 'tallica fan. I got all the albums. Hell, I didn't even mind the Load's but don't expect Puppetz or Ride from this album. When they say they're going back to metal. They probably mean nu-metal. Just look at the SS03 line-up. And Lars' hair?!
Guest Dace59 Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 All hope is in vien. But hell, we gotta hope, stranger things have happend. I think.

And Lars' hair?! Actually what I heard did sound like the old days. Or as close as they are going to get. THe song I heard sound alot like Harvester Of Sorrow. So my hopes aren't up. I already know it's going to be the best album since Justice.
Guest mesepher Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Here's a nice pic of Metallica to go with it. with the exception of Kirk... I'd say we have another nu-metal boy band
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 bwahahaha. Lars is such a punk ass midget. I love it when he tries to look tough. It's like a ferocious poodle. What a bitch.
Guest Dmann2000 Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 I've always said how can you be angry and hard when you're turning 40 with a wife and kids, and have managed to be successful AND the music is no longer a release for rage but you have FUN playing it. I never blamed Metallica for getting mellow. It was bound to happen.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 oh I'm not criticizing them for being mellow, I'm criticizing them for sucking, never being heavy in the first place, and for lars looking like a pud.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Rob sure fits in. Hehehehehe. Also, I read that as St Agnes. How fitting. I don't really hate them, but they do look like idiots there.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 I almost don't care if the new Metallica is good or not. I aint buying it. If it is on the radio and it is decent, I simply won't turn the channel, but after the last few albums, and Lars' bullshit lash out at his OWN FANS...this band will never get another fucking penny out of me. Just download it, they won't get any money.
Guest Johnson1620 Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 oh I'm not criticizing them for being mellow, I'm criticizing them for sucking, never being heavy in the first place, and for lars looking like a pud. What are you talking about? Metallica was never heavy in the first place? Now I admit when they went mellow they sucked but the songs I have heard on the new album aren't mellow they are hard like they were back in the 80's and early 90's. To say Metallica was never heavy is like saying Stevie Wonder was never blind.
Guest Lethargic Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Every single time a band has said "with this new album we're going back to our roots and gonna sound like we did before started sucking" that album has sucked.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Truer words were never spoken.
Guest NoCalMike Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Slayer also got more mellow, but they didn't SUCK at it. They managed to keep a nice balance too the music so it didn't sound like Nu-Metal SHIT. That picture of Metallica makes them look even more Nu-Metal than before, with Kirk Hammet being the token Metal guy who wishes he was in another band.
Guest Johnson1620 Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Why the hell are you guys putting so much emphasis on a pic. That has nothing to do with the music they produce. Download one of the songs and listen to it, then give your opinion. Your opinion will mean alot more that way then saying they "look like" their music will suck. Just an observation.
Guest mesepher Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Metallica's music produced after 1989 by definition HAS to be bad
