cawthon777 Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 I've already posted shots of the event on my website - these are pics of the wrestlers arriving. Thought some of you might be interested. Maven's Limo Victoria and some random guy who I think was a crew member Chief Morley Christian & Chris Nowinski Christian, Storm, & Nowinski Trish Stratus Arn Anderson Bubba Ray Dudley Shawn Michaels & Kevin Nash Rico Booker T arrives as Jack from Will & Grace scratches his head (check the billboard in the background)
TheFranchise Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Maven took a limo to a house show? damn..
cawthon777 Posted April 17, 2003 Author Report Posted April 17, 2003 Maven took a limo to a house show? damn.. He was in his hometown of Charlottesville the next night and, since the WWE doesn't hit this area very often, I assume he just wanted to go all out and bring some of his friends to the show in something other than a rental car.
Paul Stanley Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 I mark for advertisement for Def Leppard in the background of the Maven pic
Guest CED Ordonez Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Did you yell at Rico to get his attention? He's the only one that acknowledged you by mugging for the camera.
cawthon777 Posted April 17, 2003 Author Report Posted April 17, 2003 Did you yell at Rico to get his attention? He's the only one that acknowledged you by mugging for the camera. I yelled at Storm and Christian - got them to look over and wave. Rico was the nicest out of everyone - came over and signed autographs, took pics, etc for a good 10 minutes or so.
Guest Trivia247 Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 well gee a Lower carder nobody gets a limo....and nowinski, Storm and Christian Carpool...Oki Doki.
Bored Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 well gee a Lower carder nobody gets a limo....and nowinski, Storm and Christian Carpool...Oki Doki. Ya only vets like Undertaker deserve limos and first class tickets. Don't that boy know better!
Guest res37618 Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Hey, thanks for posting those pics . . . . I was born and raised in a little town just a few miles down the road from Roanoke (Wytheville, VA) so it was kinda cool to see pics of the WWE stars in the "Star City" . . . cawthon777, did you get to go to WCW Fall Brawl '94 when it was in Roanoke? That was the first PPV event I ever went to in person - I remember marking out like hell when I found out a PPV was going to be in Roanoke, I just always figured that Roanoke was way too "out of the way" and small by PPV standards (Roanoke is about 100,000 people I think, but the arena isn't the biggest in the world) to get anything cool like that. Again, thanks for the pics
cawthon777 Posted April 17, 2003 Author Report Posted April 17, 2003 cawthon777, did you get to go to WCW Fall Brawl '94 when it was in Roanoke? I was in Virginia back in 94 but home (as it technically is now) is northern Virginia - a good 4 hour drive from here, so I missed out on Fall Brawl. I'm sure WCW had a ton of Nitros / Thunders in Roanoke. I'm currently in college at Radford University, which is about a half hour away. I love the arena - it's small enough so that there isn't a bad seat in the house and for what I paid for my 4th row ticket ($40) I would be halfway up the arena in, say, the MCI Center or Baltimore Arena. I believe the floor seats at the MCI house show I went to last June went for over $100.
Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 The guy with Victoria is someone from WWE Security called Jimmy.
Guest graph9 Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Great piks..thanks for posting them..But I think Maven paid for the limo himself..
Guest res37618 Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 I'm currently in college at Radford University, which is about a half hour away. cawthon777 - dude, I graduated from Radford University! Small world, isn't it? LOL Graduated in '99 - Bachelor's in Media Studies w/ a concentration in Advertising.

Also doing the media studies route - concentration in journalism.
Guest res37618 Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 OK, getting off the subject now . . . Have you had Kovarik yet? I had him for Media Law and Ethics . . . good professor, really enjoyed that class. I also had Bob Thomas for my advertising classes, he was probably my favorite prof.

I also had Bob Thomas for my advertising classes, he was probably my favorite prof. I'm taking Worringham for Advertising - he's probably somewhat new; from South Africa. I'm going to try to get into Media Ethics next spring - haven't had a chance to take it thus far.
Guest res37618 Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 Worringham was my advisor for my first year (Dr. Waite was for the rest of my time there . . don't know why they switched me) . . . Mr. Thomas left and came back, I had him the first time around, if I'm not mistaken, this is his second time teaching at RU. You'll like Kovarik (if he's still teaching Media Law) - we had a "mock trial" in his class that was really cool.
Guest HellSpawn Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 I have some questions for you guys. I know they have 3-4 continue house shows, and I guess after RAW/SD they fly to their own houses and fly again the next weekend for the house shows. But in those weekends... Do they travel together in a Bus/plane or something or everyone come to the arena for themselves ? Because it must be very expensive to drive their own car every week from X city to Y city and then z, F, G cities and then back to X home city.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 Hmm, Victoria knows what kind of car to get. (marks for the new [although weaker and smaller than the land yachts of yore and the 90s] Impala)
Guest Galactic Gigolo Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 Pretty much, they always fly the wrestlers from house show to house show. The only time this would change would be if the rare event came up where Raw was two house shows, one in X city and one in Y City, with the two less than two, three hours by car apart. It is very expensive. But the guys get paid for working the house shows (which adds up to more than the rental car, hotel, etc.), along with the fact that they can write it off when it comes to tax time (slice 50% or so off), so they're making out well for dishing me out ten minute matches with six restholds.
cawthon777 Posted April 18, 2003 Author Report Posted April 18, 2003 What they most likely did for this weekend was fly into Roanoke, get a rental car, drive it to Charlottesville on Sunday, drive it to Richmond on Monday, leave it at the Richmond airport, and fly out after Monday's Raw.
Guest Flyboy Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 *marks out for Booker T. in a throwback Astros jersey*
Guest HellSpawn Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 So, how it's an usual Houseshow? They stay in an hotel until... noon? And then travel to the arena or what? Im askin because there is a chance for the WWE to come down here (Mexico) for one show, it looks like its gonna be an SmackDown show, its weird because we only got Raw, but I guess Los Guerreros and Rey Rey will be the Selling guys.
