Guest Black Tiger Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 How good a wrestler is Takeshi Sugiura? Meltzer pimps him as the next coming of Kurt Angle. I've never seen him in singles, just in tags and six mans and he's never done much to impress me. The only comparison I can draw between him and Kurt Angle is the use of the Angle Slam.

Oh yeah, and he's a Junior Heavy. And as a Junior in NOAH, there are probably six guys better (KENTA, Ogawa, Marafuji, Kanemura, Kikuchi & Suzuki) right now, let alone Modest is the JR Champ. And Kurt Angle is arguably the best wrestler in the world, at least in the U.S. Sugiura isn't even among the elite in his own promotion and I have seen little reason why he would ever get there. Kobashi, Akiyama & Misawa are obviously the top guys there now. Takayama is a brute that still fights in NOAH as a top card and the young Juniors that I mentioned before seem to be the future. So, I really can't understand the comparison. I suppose Superstar Steve is the next Benoit then?
