Pay Per View Theme Music

I was Kinda Curious, After seeing that "Remedy"- By Cold was the Theme Song for Backlash.

I have nothing against that Band, A decent but not special Band but The real question I had was this...

How do the Theme Songs come about? Do They Have a system they use for selecting the theme songs?

It seems SOMETIMES, they get a song and it fits perfectly with the PPV (My Way, Fight, Cocky, The End) and sometimes they REALLY have no connection.

Sometimes they have fucking great songs and sometimes really BAD songs...

I was wondering Do the record companies contact them or vice versa? Who decides about the theme songs and stuff?

it also seems they reproduce from the same pile...

CREED (My Sacrifice, Weathered, Young Grow Old)

Drowning Pool (Sinner, Bodies, Tear Away)

Limp Bizkit (My Way, Crack Addict)

Saliva (Superstar, Every Six Seconds, Click Click Boom, King of my World, Always)

I know that Fred and Josey are HUGE wrestling fans but I doubt Stapp is a fan of wrestling...

So Is there a Selection Process? Or is it random?

I am not so sure Josey Scott is a massive wrestling fan, but he does sorta follow it. I spoke to him very briefly after a gig here in England and he mentioned it was the time of year for WrestleMania but he didn't know what was going on as far as the card goes.

Mind you, he was touring.

Add Trust Company to that list of reselection.

('Downfall' - Vengeance 2002, 'Falling Apart' - Royal Rumble 2003).

Speaking of PPVs where the theme song perfectly fits the event, you gotta love "Falling Apart" for the PPV with a HHH-Steiner championship match on it.

They find a band no one has ever heard of, pick a song that isn't as bad as the rest of theirs, and try to give them a break.

With my knowledge of the record industry, what most likely happens is that the label pays the WWE to promote their new band by playing one or their songs as a ring entrance or PPV theme. If WWE isn't getting paid to promote it, then the record label allows the WWE to use the song for free in exchange for the airtime and promotional efforts related to it. Like Lawler or Tazz shilling the new Cold CD every five minutes.

I've always thought that it was corporate deals with record labels. They used to pick songs based on how well they fit with what is going on (My Way, The End). But now it is just to sell records and make money.

Don't they have a deal with Wind-Up records? Creed, 12 Stones, Finger Eleven, Breaking Point, Drowning Pool and Evanescence are all on the label.

On a side note, the last time I heard about Cold, they quit the Weezer tour after being repeatedly booed off the stage by Weezer fans in city after city.

Would they ever put a hip hop song as the theme? I doubt it. It's always hard rock or alternative.

Weezer fans are dicks. They're always horrible to opening acts. Just a bunch of whiny bratty little kids. Its people like them who make me ashamed to have been a fan of Weezer.

No. Cold just sucks. They were replaced with Tenacious D and Jimmy Eat World on the tour and the fans loved them. If there's any reason to be ashamed to be a Weezer fan, it would be because their last 2 releases are shit compared to Pinkerton.

If they paid attention to anything, they'd realize that nu metal is fading way, which may be ironic, seeing as how WWE is fading away.

They should probably make a deal with another label, perhaps with some acts that don't do the same exact thing in every song.

Cold and most new weezer fans suck. I saw Weezer at different times in the last couple of years with Dynamite Hack and Sparta and the opening acts were treated like shit. Post pinkerton-weezer fans are idiots and should be beaten unmercifully.

No wonder Matt left to form the Rentals. stupid weezer.

I think they would if they could get someone to play from them.. most Emcees know better than to work with Wrestling.

Even more so now that it's not as big as it used to be and now that everyone is attacking eachother on every new Album or Mixtape that comes out.

I think that was one of main reasons why Fab pulled out of the "Freestyle Battle/Gay" with Cena.

Usually, WWE picks a PPV theme if

a)it has a good hook and chorus,

is

b) from a 'young' or up-and-coming band,

and/or

c) is the current single from that band's album.

Every PPV theme (save 'Crack Addict') was at the time of the PPV the current or forthcoming first single from that band's album.

It's that simple.
