Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted April 18, 2003 Hey guys, I just got a new computer yesterday. I was online and everything was great. Then this morning I go to sign on and AOL doesn't go past Step 1. I get a "IP/TCP connection failed" message. After calling an ass at AOL who decided to hook me up with this guy offering a deal on oil, I called Opt. Online. The guy said that there is a problem between AOL 8.0 and Windows XP. He said he would install some software that should go into effect by Monday. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you have any tips? BTW, I already re-synched my modem about four times.... Guest JMTapes Report post Posted April 18, 2003 I got a new computer for Christmas and AOL 7.0 was already on it, so I used that. I kept telling myself that I was gonna get 8.0, but I never did. Scary, no?
Guest JHawk Report post Posted April 18, 2003 I've found AOL 8.0 sometimes shuts down if you try to change screen names when you first open it. My advice is if you need to stick with AOL, stick with 7.0 and fuck the upgrades until you absolutely have to.
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted April 18, 2003 Personally, *I* could give a shit about AOL. It's the other people who use the computer.

Guest DerangedHermit Report post Posted April 20, 2003 My family ditched AOL for Opt. Online a year ago. Best thing that happened, a lot cheaper (saved $50+ a month).....
