The Shroud of Turin

The Shroud of Turin is a centuries old linen cloth that bears the image of a crucified man. A man that millions believe to be Jesus of Nazareth. Is it really the cloth that wrapped his crucified body, or is it simply a medieval forgery, a hoax perpetrated by some clever artist? Modern science has completed hundreds of thousands of hours of detailed study and intense research on the Shroud. It is, in fact, the single most studied artifact in human history, and we know more about it today than we ever have before. And yet, the controversy still rages. This web site will keep you abreast of current research, provide you with accurate data from the previous research and let you interact with the researchers themselves. We believe that if you have access to the facts, you can make up your own mind about the Shroud.

Since this mystery all stated on this day (Easter Sunday) I felt the need to find out your thoughts on this relic?

Q and A

That's an interesting article, Ram. I skimmed over the first and last pages, I'll go back and read it later on fully (just cuz stuff like that interests me).

Personally, I've never really cared about the Shroud. It's not mentioned biblically, has no bearing on my relationship with Christ so it's been placed in the same realm as strange phenomena and legends in my mind. Interesting, but not enough to care about overmuch. My personal experiences with God are more than enough for me. I don't need a blanket that may or may not have Jesus's face on it.

Also, the pictures I've seen of it don't fit with my own experience very much. That I recall. I haven't seen photographs of the Shroud in a long time. I don't buy the Surfer Jesus look.

It's a fake. A good one, but still a fake. Radiocarbondating has proven that, and the letter to the Pope mentioned in the article has been documented to be unquestionably authentic.
