Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted March 23, 2002 OK, the placeholder show is in a few weeks. What matches would you like to see? Do you think both sides of the brand extension (I hate saying that) should perform on the show? Do you think the final split will not occur until after Backlash is said and done? Guest Tony149 Report post Posted March 23, 2002 I think that this will be the first and only PPV (At least for a few months) where both rosters appear. I see these matches happening. Kurt Angle vs. Edge Undertaker vs. HHH RVD vs. Lance Storm Hall & Nash vs. Hogan & Rock That's all I can think of. I have to find out who's going where before I can think of matches I want to see. Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted March 23, 2002 well I'd LIKE to See: RVD vs. Mr Pefect for the IC belt Angle/booker T vs. Edge/mystery partner (turns out to be christian) Rock/hogan/austin vs. hall/nash/xpac (with HBK casuing nWo to win) Jericho vs. HHH (do it right this time, and have Benoit help Jericho win)
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 23, 2002 As posted in another thread: HHH vs. RVD in a "Whoever has less heat must retire" match.
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted March 23, 2002 Man, keep HHH far away from RVD. Before the match HHH would pipe in heat during his entrance and mute RVD's pop, thus denying us the privilege of seeing Van Dam As for backlash, the two so called mainevents don't look promising at all. Hogan/Rock vs. Outsiders? DUD Taker vs. HHH? The match will be boring yet INTENSE As for the undercard, I'd really like to see a Booker T face turn. RVD-Lance Storm would be really nice. They should keep setting the seeds for a Flair-Jericho match. I think after Backlash, the two sides should not share anymore shows but i think that Backlash will help determine how the split finally comes about.
Guest Report post Posted March 23, 2002 You'll see RVD and Perfect on Heat. I think the split will actually happen after Backalsh because they already have feuds in place.
Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted March 23, 2002 Ok, I've got a question about AFTER Backlash for you guys. Do you think that the 2 "brands" will alternate PPV months when its not a big 5er...for example. Backlash, both promotions are on it this month...but after that, Flair gets Judgment Day, both share KOR sending 4 of their wrestlers to the tourney, Vince gets the July PPV, they share Summerslam, Flair gets Unforgiven, Vince gets No Mercy, they share survivor series, Flair gets Vengeance, they share the rumble, Vince gets No Way Out and they share Mania. Think it can work? The way I propose the "sharing" is pretty simple. For KOTR, Flairs group holds a tourney to see which 4 get in, Vince does the same and thats your KOTR tourney. SummerSlam, culmination of your big angles..just throw the matches together. Survivor Series, could work like SummerSlam, but would make more sense if they went back to the 4x4 format, as it would really work with 2 promotions battling in different kinds of matches. Rumble - each guy sends 15 to the rumble. Wrestlemania works like Summerslam. What do you think? Dames
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted March 23, 2002 Dames that sounds very reasonable but the WWF doesn't always do things the most reasonable way. I remember it being said the WWF was going to attempt two ppv's per month.
Guest Report post Posted March 23, 2002 I think Invasion and maybe Surivivor Series should be joint PPVs. I think they should alternate too. Also guys should jump feds when there kayfabed contracts run out.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 23, 2002 WrestleMania should always be a joint ppv. It's not cool to leave half the roster off the biggest show of the year...and it would hurt the buyrate. But who thinks the rosters will still be split this time next year?
Guest Report post Posted March 23, 2002 They should have both feds on teh card but fighting guys from the same feds.
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted March 23, 2002 I agree with bps that the WWF probably won't have a split roster by this time next year. As it stands to reason, if they do share the same PPV, they could easily build up 4 feuds from each fed for each ppv and alternate the matches.
Guest KOR420 Report post Posted March 23, 2002 Definitely Perfect or Storm VS RVD,preferably Storm they work well together
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted March 23, 2002 Knowing the WWF's moneymoneymoney attitude, they'll try to do two full PPV's a month. It was the standard when WCW was still around, so I'm sure Vince has thought about how much he could make with 24 shows at $30 a pop as opposed to 12...
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted March 23, 2002 "so I'm sure Vince has thought about how much he could make with 24 shows at $30 a pop as opposed to 12..." make that $35 a pop. and I don't know how Vince can justify raising the ppv price in rough economic times. add the fact that the popularity in wrestling is waning. Isn't the point to attract more viewers, not turn away the ones you have?
Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted March 23, 2002 As for the undercard, I'd really like to see a Booker T face turn. RVD-Lance Storm would be really nice. They should keep setting the seeds for a Flair-Jericho match. Yep, thats all good. RVD/Booker would be good, actually. They've teased that feud before.
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted March 23, 2002 I'd love to see RVD booker, but RVD's another guy they won't put booker over, especially since he just got the belt. I think they need a good spotfest/gimmick match to wake people up again.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted March 23, 2002 Kind of combo of what Id like to see and what realistically can happen: HHH vs Jericho w/ Benoit as ref Benoit restarts his feud w Jericho Undertaker vs "mystery challenge" have Taker get atatcked by all the people he's beat down the past few months. Have him when when Maven turns and becomes Taker's prag or Tazz joins him as a smaller version of Takers character, the little bully Chuck and Billy vs Saturn and Raven establish S&R as a bad ass team to redefine tag wrestling. Austin, Rock, & Hogan vs Hall, Nash, XPac elimination rules Angle vs Edge RVD vs Lance Storm Big Show and Spike vs. Dudleys i thought Show and Spike were a good combo Brock Lesnar vs Goldust another squash Tajiri vs Kidman for cruiserweight Kidman steals Torrie Booker T vs DDP maybe? I cant think of a great one for Book but want him on there. 10 matches, two designed to eat some time (the taker invitational and 6 man elimination)
Guest Report post Posted March 23, 2002 I WOULD PREFER TO SEE DVD AGAINST BETA WITH AN INTEFERENCE FROM VHS
Guest Report post Posted March 23, 2002 Backlash 2002 Triple H Vs Jericho, some type of gimmick match? They had a good last man standing match back in 2000, lets go with that. Hogan/Rock/Austin vs Outsiders & X-Pac. (HEY! This is my list. Make your own if you don't like it, LoL) and it gives WWF a reason to turn Hogan back or turn Rock/Austin nWo. Taker Vs Flair one more time. (I'm a mark for old school matches) Plus they could have the returning Benoit help Flair win this one. RVD Vs Storm would be Great. Give them at least 20 minutes though. Angle Vs Edge. Edge needs to beat Regal for the Euro-Trash belt and make this match worth a little more. Tag titles? I really don't care at this point in the division. Last but not least, Booker T Vs Brock Lesner. This week on TV Brock can attack Booker T, Turning Booker face. Having Brock work with Booker T for his first TV feud would be good for him. Guest Laizen Report post Posted March 23, 2002 If I were Vince (ie. This probably won't happen) I would do the following for the PPV's. My plan has less PPV's, but allows the WWF to hype them more and make the big again. Royal Rumble: Joint PPV - 15 from each side in the Rumble Feb: No PPV March: Mania, Joint April: Flair PPV May: Vince PPV June: KOTR, Joint, 16 from each division battle for 4 spots for each division July: No PPV August: Summer Slam, Joint Sept: Flair PPV Oct: Vince PPV Nov: Survior Series, Have old school 4 from one division vs. 4 from another Dec: No PPV
Guest JerryDrake Report post Posted March 23, 2002 If the WWF was smart, they would have 2 PPVS, each month at 15 dollars for a PPV. 30 Dollars for jointed PPVS, like Survivor Series, Summerslam, Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, and King Of The Ring.
Guest teke184 Report post Posted March 23, 2002 Jerry, you KNOW they won't do that because it's too reasonable. They'd rather put out twice as many PPVs and probably raise the price ANOTHER $5 to boot.
Guest Report post Posted March 23, 2002 That is a really good idea with the $15 for two PPV's but if the WWF did do that they would probably go back to the days of "In your House" and make them only a 2 hour show. Pretty much be like paying $15 to watch RAW or Smackdown...lol
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted March 23, 2002 You guys seem to think the WWF is stupid. If they started running PPVs every month at 15$ each they would cut so deep into their margins it wouldn't even be funny. Assuming the same amount of people bought each PPV, they would make the same amount of money on PPV buys as they do with the 1 PPV at 30$. HOWEVER, they have to pay twice as much talent in performance bonuses, they have to rent another building, they have to set up and incur all the other costs of doing a live broadcast, they have to pay all the support staff, etc. There's no way they make that up just in extra ticket sales and some extra merchandise. I would run 4-5 crossover PPVs a year, and 2 for every other month, for a total of 19-20 PPVs a year. Charge 30$ on the normal ones (rather than increasing to 35$), and 40-45$ on all the crossovers. Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted March 23, 2002 Whilst i think a brock/book feud would be decent, i'd rather booker fought someone who he could go over. He's never won a ppv singles match on ppv for the WWF. And he only got the pin at invasion after austin attacked angle.
Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted March 23, 2002 Backlash? Hmm. These past couple of years, it hasn't been the best of shows, but I'll take a whack at it..... Main Event: Triple H vs. Chris Jericho vs. Kurt Angle (Unified Championship) Pre-Main Event: Rock/Hogan vs. The Outsiders & X-Pac (Shawn Michaels special guest referee) Upper Midcard Match: Chris Benoit vs. Steve Austin (#1 Contendership to the Unified Titles, Submission Match) Tag Team Titles Match: Chuck & Billy vs. Brock Lesnar & Rhyno Intercontinental Title Match: Rob Van Dam vs. Booker T vs. Test European Title Match: W. Regal vs. Christian (Edge turns heel again, helping Christian win, both go after Tag and IC titles) For now, that's all I could conjure up. I don't know if it would be the absolute best card, but this kind of card would get me interested in Backlash, and it could keep the interest in the WWF after Wrestlemania..... Guest Report post Posted March 23, 2002 Well, I think the HHHvs. Taker match is what I would most like to see. Both guys are hot off of ****+ matches at Wrestlemania and I think they would have a lot of adrenaline running into this match, especially since they won't have to carry Jericho and Flair(retire already!!LOL) respectively. I'd have Taker go over in this one, since he's arguably the best he's been in years. I'd also like to see Test get a big push, maybe going over RVD for the Euro Title. Maybe have an Austin vs. Nash match, w/ Nash going over. Btw, I think the nWo should be the Wolfpac now, but that's a whole other post! Oh yeah, turn Rocky heel and have The Real American beat him cleanly. After all, ever since Sept 11, I think we all want the Hulkster back, deep down inside.
