Guest HartFan86 Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 What was the point of promoting Backlash 99 around Mankind when he ended up doing nothing special for it? (unless if you count wrestling Big Show in a forgetable Boiler Room Brawl special) Was he in a spot to do something big at the show, or did they just feel he was the right guy to do the advertising around, for whatever reason? I know that the December IYH 1996 was called "It's Time" because Vader was suppose to be champion then, but HBK stopped that from happening. Thanks for any help.
Guest bob_barron Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 He was supposed to fight Austin again. I think I remember reading that in an SK review
Guest Mattdotcom Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Yeah, I heard he was going to get a shot at Austin and maybe turn heel, but got injured and worked that Boiler Room Match instead.
cawthon777 Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 He was supposed to fight Austin again. I think I remember reading that in an SK review I don't know about the legitimacy of that, nor do I care, I just like to make fun of SK at every given opportunity. I think it's appropriate at this time to quote the late Gorilla Monsoon when I refer to SK as a "fountain of misinformation".
Guest Choken One Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 I believe Foley mentioned this in his book or something... He was planned to take a night off but since they already made the Ad's with him...He felt compelled to do the show and not screw the paying fans...So that's why there was this quickie match made with TBS...
