TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2003 Yah so picutre Vince had the option of working extra to keep any wrestler who left the WWF. Who do you think would have benefitted most to the WWF, and himself, by staying? BTW Bret Hart does NOT count. Anyways my number one pick is: Rick Rude: When he left Rude was extremely over, hitting his prime as a grea worker and very over. He could've had Slaughter's title run and been over without having to be a turn coat. HE ended doing very well in WCW and could've done great things for the WWF. Others who I would've worked extra hard to keep are Jeff Jarrett(the second time in 1999) and Randy Savage(in 1994).

Guest tank_abbott Report post Posted April 22, 2003 Superstar Billy Graham, McMahon's favorite wrestler of the late 70's , early 80's who moved on to the AWA and NWA... This makes sense on numerous levels.
Guest DawnBTVS Report post Posted April 22, 2003 Ric Flair in 93 and Ricky Steamboat
Guest tank_abbott Report post Posted April 23, 2003 Vince didn't want either Flair or Ricky anymore at the time he let them go
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 23, 2003 Exactly...Flair and Vince each felt that the character reached it's fullest potential and there was no where else to go... I disagree of course since Flair/Perfect could've been streched out to WMIX and then have THAT blowoff there...Alot of good Mid-carders were around for Flair... Bret, Luger, Tatanka, Jannetty, Ramon, Shawn, 'Taker... Steamboat however had been used up by mid 1991 and they split on good terms... So Who Should have Vince never let go... Logic says... Kevin Nash. And Hall. Sure, Ratings sure weren't high with them but it sure would've kept WCW from blossoming... Other ones... Jeff Jarrett...The second Time. The first time Jarrett was a Joke mid-carder so he was expendable. The Second Time , Jarrett was a GREAT Heel that could've gone places...(Esp. Since Austin was gone a month later) and he really could've been a GREAT Main Event transition Heel for WWF...He didn't need the Woman Haters thing to get over... He showed he was a great heel in WCW without it and WWF really could've sold Jarrett as a legit main eventer... Who Else? Rick Rude...Yep. The guy was amazing and In 1990, he was argueable the REAL #1 heel...not Earthquake. Randy Savage...I still can't believe they had him go from Main event Babyface in 1992 and was QUICKLY shunted to Commentating when he clearly could still go... Even letting him stay as a Commentator would ve been good because he was a Person that OFFERED A TON to WWF... British Bulldog in 1993...He was clearly a great Babyface for WWF and could've done the job better in Luger's Position as Major Babyface...
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2003 I fully agree on Savage. I was gonna mention him especially since he went form the WWF champion to not the card of a Wrestlemania in a matter of months. Plus he never had a problem with jobbing and oculd've put over new heels.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 23, 2003 Exactly...Savage should've fought Ramon at WM9 and that would've given Ramon a bigger Heel Push... Was Savage injured or was this like a Tazz stituation...
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2003 Rude would def be one of my pics. Look at the guys that had WrestleMania VIII as a last major show for the WWF. Piper, Jake the Snake, Sid Justice. Three of the biggest names in the company at the time. Perhaps Jake was having issues behind the scenes, but he was simply on fire following his feud with Savage. I think keeping Sid on would have been big money in the long-term. Sid was one of the most over, and popular, heels on the roster and could have put on a lot of interesting bouts with the new champion Savage, Warrior, IC Champ Bret, Bulldog, etc. Much like Rude, I think letting him go just weeks after a main event PPV slot was a bad move. Was Savage injured or was this like a Tazz stituation... He wasn't injured. As a matter of fact, he was busy at house shows giving the rub to (whether that be by losing to them or simply giving them a good match and elevating them) Yokozuna, HBK, Razor, Flair, and Doink among others between late 92 and spring 93. TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2003 Now THAT'S a company man. But yah considering how Savage could still go up to maybe 98/99 whenver WWE needed big names(ie. 1996 when Hall & Nash left) they could've gotten Savage out of the announce poisiton and have him give the rub to people. I never reall got why they didn't kee[ him.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2003 It's not that they didn't want him around - he just wanted to jump to WCW and make the big money with Hogan while at the same time getting more in-ring action.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 24, 2003 I understand that naturally but Why did Vince Bench him for Tv?
