Guest EQ Report post Posted April 23, 2003 I'm sure that those of you who watch UPN have seen the advertisements for this show. 3 episodes in, and I'm really enjoying it. I know we have a lot of 24 fans (and a good number of Smallville fans) on the board, so Platinum kind of has a tough timeslot, but I still manage to catch it. Anyone else watch? Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted April 23, 2003 I've heard some good reviews on it, but I have to work on tuesday nights.
Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted April 23, 2003 I've heard really good reviews from nearly every major outlet and there are some really reputable people involved behind the scenes, but I think you can guarantee that this show is not one for the majority of the TSM demographic. They'll dismiss it as another "black" UPN "rap" show and not bother.
Guest EQ Report post Posted April 23, 2003 I fear you may be right. That's too bad, cause I would have really liked to talk about with the people on the board. Oh well, I'll enjoy it either way.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2003 Well new episodes of Smallville have started up again so I might record it.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted April 24, 2003 I've actually been interested in seeing the show due to the "political" nature of the music industry, and how it appears to be written in this show. Â ...HOWEVER... Â It's up against 24.
Guest MrRant Report post Posted April 24, 2003 I also think people will be turned off by that. They will see the one token white guy and not tune in and think they won't understand because its a black thing. Â It's unfortunate but that is what you get when you cast most of the characters one race or another. People feel they can't relate and develop any kindof of connection with a character. Actually, I heard the show is revolved around the white rapper, and the rap industry. Eventhough, I like to know more about the politics of the music industry, but I won't be able to catch this show, I'll be at work.
Guest EQ Report post Posted April 24, 2003 Well, the show really revolves around the two black brothers who happen to own the record company. There are a few white characters on the show (including said rapper), but the show does not revolve around any of them.
Guest TheArchiteck Report post Posted April 25, 2003 I've had it on...but didn't really watch it. Looks like it has pretty good production is all I can say.
Guest Snappy Nappy Dugout Report post Posted April 25, 2003 Yeah, I think the show Is good. From the 3 shows I've seen so far, the show is well written.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2003 Is it replayed on any other night? Cause right now my VCR has problems. I can record, but I cannot watch one thing and record another.
Guest EQ Report post Posted April 26, 2003 I'm not sure if UPN gives it on any other night
