Which Soul Calibur 2 are you getting?

We (as real fighter players) have the right to mock asinine characters.  The only problem will be when stupid nintendrone scrubs insist on playing on the Gamecube so they can pick a stupid Link and shoot arrows all over the place.  Thus forcing a shitty controller on the rest of us.

That'd better not happen...

Agree with you all the way Eric. I have a scrub friend with a gamecube who claims he will "wipe my ass all over the place with Links weapons". He doesnt seem to actually care about the game besides the fact that he can play as Link.

Just because your friend is an idiot, everyone else (who, by the way, respect the other characters in the game -- Ivy will be my character no matter what) who happens to mark out for Link is as dumb as your buddy?

Meh. Ten bucks says the people who play gimmick chars will get whipped by the people who know how to play the real fighters.

Why do people assume that the gimmick characters will be any less well-rounded or developed as the others?

Examples: Gon. Doctor B.

Anyway, I'm certainly not going to have any trouble destroying scrubs that use gimmick characters. I frequently place at high level SC2 tournies, so winning against some Link masher isn't going to be a problem. But like Eric said, it's a pain in the ass to switch over to the Gamecube (and then have to use a pad, ugh) because some scrub only knows how to use Link. And it's going to happen. A lot. And it will likely happen with Spawn as well, and maybe even Heihachi. Note that just because I prefer Hei doesn't mean that I think he should be in the game either.

At the end of the day, no-one will force you to buy the game, and hating on a particular character on a rival system only makes you come across as a petty mark for console rivalries. If you don't like it, for whatever reason, fine - just get over it and leave the rest of us to meaningful discussion.

Meaningful discussion? The entire point of this thread is to talk about what console version of SC2 to get. Look at the title. That's... what we're doing! Given that the only meaningful difference between the ports is the controller and the extra character, arguing about which controller and extra character we prefer is natural, neh?

I'm not trying to start trouble over this, and Lord knows I;m not going to be online enough to argue the toss, but here goes.

If Link should be taken out of the game, then so should Haihachi. Just because one is an in-house Namco creation, doesn't mean he has any more right to be in the game - all three are bonus characters, included exclusively for the home versions and none of them have been put in at the expense of other characters. Arguing that "oh, they included some elf but left out such and such" is a nonsense argument - wow, they gave us something for free, and not at all at the expense of any of the original ideas or characters. Gee, LET'S COMPLAIN.

The fact is that true videogame fans mark for Zelda games. Why include him in SC2? Why not? And if you'd actually PLAYED AS HIM, you might better understand.

Are you even reading what I am saying? I DON'T LIKE HEIHACHI IN SC II. I don't like ANY novelty characters. It is not just Link. It is not an issue of hating Link just to hate on Nintendo. I don't know how I can make this any more clear. Like I've said about three times now, Heihachi is the least stupid out of 3 stupid characters.

And the time used to put those 3 charactes in(and Necrid, who also sucks) could have been used to put in Li Long. They put in Mina and Sophitia so it is very possible they would have put in more old Soul characters if they could.

Oh my god. I've got 9 consoles hooked up at once in my room here and 7 arcade games in the back room of my house. But I'm not a "true fan" if I don't mark out for one videogame franchise? That was horrible.

I am hating on ALL 3. So is KOR. We're hating on the concept in general. Link, Heihachi and Spawn suck. All 3 suck. Again, all 3 suck. This isn't Gamefaqs, not everything has to come down to console bias where we call each other fanboys and fangirls.

We're not the ones freaking out over this claiming that it's about console bias and saying we're not "real fans" if we don't mark out for Zelda.

And enough with the "well then just don't buy it" stuff! It's just one character who I'd rather not see be in. It's something that bugs me, but it's still SC II on a home system.

The "meaningful discussion" was which version of SC II will I buy. I said PS2 because of the controller and because I think Heihachi is the best novelty character. Now I am being told I am wrong and that I should like mark out for Link. All of my replies are defending my anti-Link love and why I want the PS2 port. That IS on topic.

BTW, Kuma should be in SC II. That would own. Well it'd be cooler than Necrid.

Gimmick characters rarely work well in any fighting game, meh, I find them a useless waste of space that could have been used for something else. Modes.pictures, extras..shit like that.
