cawthon777 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2003 Alright, So last week after I went to the Raw show in Roanoke - I wrote up a nice little article for my college paper. You know, something to put over the WWE and written from the standpoint of someone who knows what the fuck he's talking about. So I write it up and once I got my pics back I sent a few along to the editor to use if they so choose. Well, I never heard back so I just assumed they weren't going to run the piece since this was the last paper of the semester. Low and behold, I made the back cover of the paper. Not only that, I made 3/4s of the back cover of the paper - with a huge ass Booker T pic to go with it. Now that right there, I'm happy about. What pisses me off is that they gave it a hokie title ("A True WWE Fan at Heart") and the caption for the Booker T pic read as follows: "Booker T. Washington rants and rages in the ring as the crowd cheers him on. WWE has always been able to entertain the public, especially college students." Maybe I just go to a stupid college - I don't know ... but BOOKER T. WASHINGTON IS SOMEONE ELSE! "Rants and rages"? WTF does that mean? I gave them a nice little phrase to use if they chose to use the pic - something to the effect of "Booker T. celebrates in the ring following his team's victory in the main event." But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, they have to take all my credibility away by fucking up his name and making the show sound like some retarded circus with the "rants and rages" line. Morons... Oh, btw, here's the article if anyone is interested... http://www.thetartan.com/vnews/display.v/A...2/3ea5bc7aee6cb Now that I notice it ... they also spelled MY name wrong. Guest Lightning Flik Report post Posted April 23, 2003 Somebody at the paper was being a little too creative, one thinks. Still, is that person on the same stuff Jeff Hardy was? I mean really. Just who is this Booker T. Washington. ...watch the WWE use that as his new in-ring name. You know, like Booker T. is like one of the illegitmate great grandsons of George Washington. You know, to further that whole race angle they love playing.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted April 23, 2003 You don't know who Booker T. Washington is?! Tell me you did NOT JUST SAY THAT!! He was a pretty famous black author who was also helped found Tuskegee University.
Guest Lightning Flik Report post Posted April 23, 2003 BTW Andy, thanks for the info. I didn't know that either.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted April 23, 2003 Heheh...just droppin' some knowledge. Don't confuse him with George Washington Carver, another black man who came up with hundreds of uses for the peanut.
Guest subliminal_animal Report post Posted April 23, 2003 Now that right there, I'm happy about. What pisses me off is that they gave it a hokie title ("A True WWE Fan at Heart") and the caption for the Booker T pic read as follows: What did you call it? And that is awful. I'd be embarrassed to be you, and that's just for the title ... not even getting started on how I wouldn't be me. "Booker T. Washington rants and rages in the ring as the crowd cheers him on. WWE has always been able to entertain the public, especially college students." Wow, what a colossal maroon ... but, goddamn ... that is hilarious. He was reading your article and said to himself, "Who is this 'Booker T.? What a moron ... it's Booker T. Washington. You have to give his whole name. And I know that's his whole name because I've never watched wrestling." I mean ... wow. And I bet he doesn't have facts to back up last sentence. He can't count your article since he already did too much butchering. I gave them a nice little phrase to use if they chose to use the pic - something to the effect of "Booker T. celebrates in the ring following his team's victory in the main event." That's kind of gay, too, though. Bland and gay. Now that I notice it ... they also spelled MY name wrong. The worse, the better. I mean really. Just who is this Booker T. Washington. Who the guy thinks Booker T. is. And a famous black guy, but someone said that. You were double-ignorant.

Guest Redhawk Report post Posted April 23, 2003 Speaking of stupid picture captions, I saw this one recently: The New York Times ran a picture of Will Smith and LL Cool J standing next to each other at some awards show or movie premier or something. LL was holding up a peace sign, except the back of his hand was facing out, not the front, and his hand was across his chest, not up at the side. But you know it's still a peace sign, right? Anyway, the caption says; "LL Cool J makes some kind of hip-hop hand gesture as he stands next to Wil Smith at the (whatever) awards." Hip-hop hand gesture? It's a fucking peace sign!
