Ridiculous. States should have to wait for all candidates to be officially declared, regardless of party.

I'll be laughing harder when he still wins the state come 2004.

Are you kidding? People are too lazy to write someone in.

Well, they can always just ignore the deadline and do what they want, much like Democrats did in NJ when they replaced Toricelli (spelling) during the last election.

Disclaimer: I'm a registered Democrat, and I was embarassed that the NJ Dems were able to pull that shit off.

Agree with MD...this would not bode well if the Democrats refused to change the date.

Especially because they had to move the convention because of the Olympics. It's not like they just randomly decided to try and fuck with the like the Dems did in NJ. They could always just put Bush on the ballot before teh convention, it's not like he'll lose the nomination.

Vyce is right, Bush will carry the state anyway. He'll just have to spend a little more on TV ads to make sure that they know what's up. If the Democrat state congress doesn't let him him he could use that against the party as well.

It's kinda funny, but it isn't like he's not going to win anyway. He's not even going to have to spend any more money (although he probably will... imagine... "THEY didn't want ME on the ballot, after all I've done for YOU"). I can make all the hick jokes I want, but people in Alabama aren't that misinformed that they're going to honestly believe a Republican isn't running for President. And anyone who does believe that wouldn't vote anyway.

I never said they were justified hick jokes :P

Actually... what's this about the Olympics? Are they going to be in the U.S. next time?

No, they're in Athens. I think that the Convention is going to be held later so as not to compete with the Olymipcs, since usually the Big Three follows some parts of the Conventions.

Olympics will be in China for 2008, and I saw that Cuba is going to try for 2012. Back-to-Back Communist Games? Weird.
