Anyone had the misfortune?

I am very disappointed; this could have been so great. It started very strongly, with all the shots of a disserted London. Then it sank into stupidity from there. Without spoiling it too much, every little detail is flawed, nothing makes sense. So much so that the suspension of disbelief is lost. For example, where are all the cars on the motorways? Did the rage zombies drive them away. Then for large portion of the movie it stops being about zombies and starts being about… (well I’ll put this part in the spoiler thingy)

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

…stops being about zombies and starts being about horny soldiers trying to rape a 14 year old girl. There’s a good 30 minutes dedicated to that.

If you see one British horror flick, see the superior, but still a little crappy Dog Soldiers.

When did you see this? I'm just curious because as far as I know it's not out in U.S. theatres yet (and I was actually toying with the idea of importing the DVD myself).

As for your queries... they're not actually zombies. This is something I just found out myself. Those infected with the Rage virus are "normal" people in the sense that they're mortal, just with an insane desire to kill and spread the virus, etc. The reason there aren't any cars is because the virus, for all intensive purposes, wiped out the entire population of the UK. As for why the attempted rape is the focus of the film... sick as it is to think, you gotta try and repopulate the world somehow. But does such savagery in the name of "progress" (for whom?) make the "normal" people any different from the infected? OMG HIDDEN MEANING~

...and to think I haven't even SEEN the film yet. Imagine how rabid, lengthy, and detailed my defenses will be once I have ;)

Yeah, there's been a lot of backlash to it because it used to be described as a zombie movie but it's not really a zombie movie at all, it's more of a virus thing. I haven't seen it either, just read reviews. It's getting released in US theaters on August 1st. I had a downloaded copy of it but once I saw it was getting released here I didn't watch it and figured I'd just wait.

The UK is evacuated of people. Why would they take their cars? In the film a few surviving people have to drive the across England and the motorways are completely clear. Its this kind of detail that bugs me enough to dislike it. There are so many little details that have been conveniently forgotten.

I swear to you that this is a BAD movie.

Oh and its been out for about a year here, saw it on DVD.

Why wouldn't they take their cars? What are they going to do walk the earth like nomads?

Britain is an island. If you wanted to get of the island and your life depended on it, you'd leave your car and get on a boat or plane.

Well not everyone would be able to take a boat or plane. Besides the cars could be at home or where ever they caught a plane or boat ride. Why do they all have to be on the expressway?

But either why complain about something as insignificant as the locations of cars which may or ay not be a flaw?
