Shield Thread

Guest Cerebus

Hey a general thread on the Shield TV show...this is to discuss the new season & the first season on DVD.

I guess the first question I would have is why does the strike team turn sour when they see all the money from the money train laid out before them?

Any thoughts?

I wore myself out on the Shield on the last Shield thread. I think I'll sit this one out for a while.

Show's over for the season, not enough to talk about.

I tried to get into the show, but it was like pulling teeth. I couldn't sit through a half hour of it.

You're the first person I've ever heard say that. I just couldn't get enough of the show. And I'm gonna hate having to wait so long for next season.

Atleast I've got Lucky to watch during that timeslot for now.

I don't know what it was about it. It seemed like an OK premise, but I was BORED during the half hour that I watched.

Eh.

Have you tried watching from the beginning when they have marathons or anything? If you didn't know what was going on it might have made it boring for you.

Plus it takes getting used to that they don't take their first commercial break for 30 minutes or so.

I might try that. Maybe I just caught a bad episode. I wanted to see how it turned out with his wife, but I was so bored with the show that I couldn't bring myself to.

"Day One" was the closest to a "bad" episode I can think of and it was still entertaining even though it wasn't very thought through.

Day One was one of those episodes you would only enjoy if you had been watching from the very first episode. It is like watching a prequel to a movie you havn't seen. No way you'd enjoy it as much unless you had seen the original.

I love the show to death but anything to do with his wife bores me. She over reacts too much and is too extreme. I can understand her being afraid for her life with the people after Vic, but when he comes to the door, why does she need to act like he's there to kill her. Max, get a hold of season 1 and watch episode 1. That shit hooked me in a second.

I have to agree with the last statement... picking the show up anywhere else will definatly give you a "meh, I don't care for this" attitude in most cases... But The Pilot is by far THEE episode to watch to get into the show. Hell, the montage at the end is enough. SOOOOOOOO well done, can't say enough good things about it.

The wife is actually the creator's wife. So don't look for her to be going anywhere.
