Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted April 24, 2003 Nothing against the Wild. I wish them continued success. But being from Minnesota, no one will ever replace the North Stars. Not being a huge hockey fan, I still had so many memories of the North Stars. Al Shaver on the radio, the rivalries between Chicago, St.Louis, and Detroit. Players like Broten, Smith, Bellows, Gilles, Larson, Cicarelli.

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 24, 2003 Someone as talking to me about "Minnesota" the other day, and the North Stars were the team tought of. The Wild never made that connection with me. But don't complain. You have at least one competant team. ::hums Yankee Baseball::

Guest Lethargic Report post Posted April 24, 2003 I hate the Wild just for the fact that they totally stole the Predators logo. What was it? 2 years or one in between their starts? Predators come into the league, then right afterwards the Wild show up, take the Predators logo, turn it the opposite direction, put some trees in it and act like it's original. Come on, look at that.... Ooh, it looks a different direction has smaller teeth.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted April 24, 2003 Hey the Wild logo, can be both a scenic outdoor sunset over a wooded lake, or some kind of Cat.
moral suasion 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2003 I think the Wild could eventually replace the North Stars in Minnesota hearts. Have you been to a Wild game? The Xcel goes CRAZY! I realize that all hockey arenas go nuts, but there is something special in how Minnesotans love thier boys. I think within a few years they will mark thier place in Minnesota sports history and not be thought of as replacement for the Stars. Plus, the North Stars leaving was such a TRAGEDY at the time and still is in Minnesota. I mean come on, they fucking went to Texas! For every 3 Wild jerseys I see on campus, i still see 1 Stars jersey. Minnesota is a hockey state and the fans have it in thier blood. Its like canada. The Wild will eventually ease the bitterness that Minnesota Hockey fans still have.
Guest Banky Report post Posted April 24, 2003 The Wild have the same ugly ass green uniforms as the North Stars. But can you beat a team name - The North Stars? Highly doubtful. But who cares, the Canucks are gonna own the Wild.

Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted April 24, 2003 They should have kept the North Stars name ... I know the league would have frowned on it, with there still being the Stars and all, but it would have been a good nod to the past. And I think that we're all smart enough to survive in a world with both "Stars" and "North Stars" in the same league.

There's nothing original about the Preds logo either though. Check out the logos for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Carolina Panthers and the San Jose Sabercats. I'd also reference the Thundercats logo for that matter. That being said, the Wild could also have been playing off of the T'Wolves. They should have kept the North Stars name ... I'm thinking that they saw the "Roughriders"/"Rough Riders" deal in the CFL and decided they didn't want to be made fun of.

Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted April 26, 2003 "Wild" is a lame name. They should've moved the Stars back to the Twin Cities and put the expansion team in Dallas. Yeah that's the ticket. And the N-Star logo is so much cooler than the current "ST^RS" logo, and the Wild one for that matter.
