Guest GameCop Report post Posted April 24, 2003 Damn, as a professed Laker fan, I'd never thought I'd say this, but I've gotta say it... Tracy McGrady is much better than Kobe in just about every facet of the game, with the slight exception of defense. Let's compare the two: McGrady: In the last two games, he's scored 43 and 46 points on 15-28 and 16-26 from the field. Kobe: On Sunday he had 39 points on 16-30 from the field. Obviously 16-30 is above 50 percent; however, after going 12-16 in the first half, Kobe shot 4-14 in the second half. Three of those 14 shots were dismal air-balls; the others were hurried and seemed out of control. The Lakers, though, emerged with a victory. In Game 2, Kobe shot an abysmal 9-28 from the field, with many of the attempts straying away from the Lakers' offense. Now let me take you back to Kobe's famous 42 point second half. After shooting 14-16 from the field, Kobe missed 12 of his next 13 shots. There are countless other examples I can cite, but are you noticing a trend here? Kobe is a STREAK shooter. If he makes 10 shots in a row, he'll miss the next 10... McGrady: Have you ever noticed that he's always at ease? I mean...he's seemingly barely awake at times, yet he still manages to elude double teams (or triple teams) and score with style. I haven't seen anyone stifle McGrady yet. McGrady is an unstoppable monster who has absolutely no help. Kobe: I can think of two guards who have stymied Kobe: Bruce Bowen and Anthony Peeler (from Game 2). In the last Lakers-Spurs game, Bowen made Bryant a non-factor in the first three quarters and if you saw Game 2, you'll know that Peeler did an excellent job against Bryant. On a closing note, have you ever noticed that Bryant exerts more effort than T-MAC to accomplish the same things? Bryant has done well thus far in the NBA because he's incessantly worked on his game. McGrady looks like the more gifted athlete, who would be the biggest star in sports if he worked on his game as much as Kobe does.

Guest TheArchiteck Report post Posted April 24, 2003 Yeah, I like T-Mac better than Kobe. But right now i'm hoping his ass doesn't see the light of day of the 2nd round. GOOOOOOOOO PISTOOOOOOOOOONS!

That sentence right there is why I why'd rather have Bryant than McGrady.

Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 24, 2003 T Mac won't be able to carry the team on his back through the 2nd round though. Kobe has a team and he'll make it to round 2.
Guest Still Fly Report post Posted April 24, 2003 T-Mac is good but not better than Kobe. Wow two forty plus games in the playoffs and T-Mac is god amost men. Why is it that he cant get the Magic out of the first round. Why is it that Kobe has 3 rings and T-Mac has got zip. Kobe is definelty not a streak shooter. You think a streak shooter can average the second most points in the league? Nice try. Kobe is clutch, T-Mac is a choker. Kobe has carried the Lakers, this season as a matter of fact. T-Mac cant carry his team to a 6th seed. Kobe has a better all around game than T-Mac. The fact that Kobe goes a day after winning a championchip back to the gym to work on his game while T-Mac is at some rap concert is why Kobe will always be better than T-Mac
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted April 24, 2003 Kobe has 3 rings because of the 7'2, 330 pound man in the middle. It's as simple as that. If T-Mac or KG had Shaq they'd probably have 3 rings, as well.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted April 24, 2003 T Mac won't be able to carry the team on his back through the 2nd round though. Kobe has a team and he'll make it to round 2. T-Mac doesn't have a 300 pound illiterate named Shaq on his team to help him get pass the first round. With that said, if I was going to start a new franchise, I would take T-Mac over Kobe anyday and twice on Sunday.

Tracy would be too if Grant "for Ben Wallice" Hill could've played a little. I'd take #1 over #8 myself

moral suasion 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2003 T Mac choked at the end of game 2 versus Detroit. I hate how the entire Orlando offense is run through him. Its bad for the game and lazy. You'd think that as a former player, Doc Rivers would incorporate the rest of the team into the offense, even if they are bad. T Mac scores 40 points every night because he takes so many damn shots. He had almost 60% of Orlando's scoring in game 2. Also, he is overrated because he is all that SportsCenter can show of Orlando games for reasons stated above, and SportsCenter chooses only to show his dunks and crazyass shots. I agree that he is one of the most talented players in the game, but he is overrated and overexposed.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted April 24, 2003 Personally, I think it's a wrong to say that McGrady, or any of the elite players could replace Bryant on the Lakers and team would have the same success. Having good chemistry is vital in sports, how does anyone know if Shaq and McGrady wold have chemistry.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted April 24, 2003 Shaq makes everyone look better than they are. Penny, Eddie Jones, Kobe, Lue, Fox, Madsen...
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted April 24, 2003 Geez PR, you really don't like Kobe do you. Kobe doesn't need Shaq to be one of the best players in the league. The rest of the teams needs Shaq.

Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted April 25, 2003 Respect is Earned. How can anyone respect Shaq, Kobe and the Lakers after what the refs tried to do for them last night. As hard as they tried to cheat and call a one-sided game, the Lakers still LOST!!!
Guest Deebo Report post Posted April 26, 2003 So T-Mac is a better player than Kobe because of two playoff games? Ahh, ok. Why does Kobe ALWAYS get punished by people for playing with Shaq. NOBODY HAS EVER WON A TITLE BY THEMSELVES. It's always a duo, or just a star player with a great all-around team. People act like T-Mac is leading his team to the eastern conference finals by himself every year, when all he can do is take an average team in a horrible conference to a first round exit. Put Kobe on the Magic and I guarentee he would AT LEAST have them as far as T-Mac does right now.

Did Shaq threatend to beat up the refs if they didn't try to screw the Wolves. Kobe works his ass off, and even though for some reason you have a blind hatred for the guy. There's nothing wrong with respecting Kobe's effort on the court.

Guest Ripper Report post Posted May 1, 2003 Tracy and Kobe are both great players...no doubt. But Tracy is the better SHOOTER(Kobe for the most part gets to go one on one with oposing 2 guards...Macgrady is facing double and triple teams every night) a better scorer, and a BETTER DEFENDER. I get so sick of hearing what a great defender Kobe Bryant is. Look, the guy is an amazing TEAM defender. If you are on offense you have to know where he is at all times. But he isn't in the same catagory as guys like Iverson, Kidd, Payton, Garnett and yes McGrady, who step in frount of their man and defend the hell out of them. All these years in the league and Kobe still looks like a lost little boy on a pick and roll. He will make the occational great play on defense due to his incredible athletisism and will to get there, but he has far more lazy spells on D (as every laker fan should know the only guy Phil ever has to yell at about defense during a game is Mr. Bryant) The lakers are not a playoff team without Shaq...a point that I thought was pretty much established earlier in the season. Without shaq, they are a team with a great 2 guard, a point guard that can knock down the open 3, a power forward in Horry that is better on the perimeter than inside, and a bunch of scrubs at center. As a matter of fact Fisher=Armstrong Horry=Garrity Walker/Madsen=Kemp/Declerq Fox/George=Girichek/Gooden They are basically the exact same team...The difference is shaq. You can waive Kobe's 3 rings around all you want to (and in no way does having Shaq take away from him as a great player) but you can't say that it is proof that he is better than McGrady when he as a 2nd dominating player when T-Mac doesn't. Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Report post Posted May 1, 2003 How can you people still continue to dis Kobe like this when he's proven his worth time and time again. He's done things nobody else has and has broken records that people thought would never get broken. Sorry, TMack is good, but not as good as Kobe.

You do that and they'd split games, they are both good. But Kobe is just better, more expierenced, and a better defender. When TMack gets voted to the All Defensive team then come talk to me.
