The Simpsons: Hit and Run

Radical Entertainment is currently developing a new game based on The Simpsons.

As part of its release of pre-E3 information, Vivendi Universal Games has announced its plans to publish a mission-based driving game based on The Simpsons. The game, titled The Simpsons: Hit & Run, is scheduled for a September release on the Xbox, GameCube, and PlayStation 2.

The game will mostly feature driving missions, but players will also be required to complete some on-foot missions as Homer, Bart, Apu, Marge, or Lisa. The game will feature 17 different drivers, including Cletus, Comic Book Guy, and Principal Skinner. More than 40 vehicles will be included in the game, including Cletus' pickup truck and Homer's Mr. Plow.

While not much has been said about what the missions will actually entail, players will be able to explore a lot of Springfield, inside and out. They'll be able to enter famous landmarks, such as the Simpson residence, the Springfield power plant, and the Kwik-E-Mart. The game will also feature a four-player multiplayer driving challenge mode.

The Simpsons: Hit & Run is scheduled for release on the Xbox, GameCube, and PlayStation 2 in September.

Sounds interesting to say the least, but I would think that there would be more playable charactes than just Homer, Bart, Marge, Lisa and Apu (Why Apu?).

I would have made a new thread about this, but it fits with the first post..

From Gamespot / Gamecube

The game based on the cult-hit cartoon (Futurama) is coming in August.

As part of its pre-E3 briefing, Sierra has announced its plans to release a game based on the TV show Futurama. The game, which was previously announced for European release, is being developed by UDS and is scheduled to hit the PS2, GameCube, and Xbox on August 12.

The game's story centers on time travel, with the main characters going back in time to stop Mom's plans for world domination. The game will feature 25 levels spanning five different environments. The cinematics have been written by the show's original writing staff, and the game is said to contain the equivalent of two episodes' worth of content.

Holy crap..a Futurama game, and a Simpsons game within weeks of each other. The Futurama game sounds like it could be better..

Has there ever been a GOOD Simpsons related game?

Besides the Arcade Game that is....what an awesome game that was.

Does everybody notice that every damn Simpsons Game lately has been a blatant rip-off of a more popular and far superior game? Crazy Taxi, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, and now Grand Theft Auto. Do you know what the most original Simpsons game has been in the last 3 years? Simpsons Wrestling. How did they manage it? By being downright awful.

Damn you cash cows.

I liked Bart vs the Space Mutants. The arcade game is awesome. I kinda wish they'd make a 3d platform game similar to the arcade game, but I suppose as long as they can keep ripping off games that won't happen.

I'm really surprised we haven't seen a Simpsons Party or a Simpsons: The Collectible Card Game pop up on a console yet.

Actually it's closer than you think.

Wizards of the Coast, Creators of Magic the Gathering, are designing the Simpsons TCG. Should be out by X-Mas.

Big Update from PGC:

This entry into the Simpsons universe plays like an episode! Written by scriptwriters from the show, the game tells of how Homer unwittingly uncovers a dark conspiracy involving space aliens Kang and Kudos! As the comedic plot continues, players will encounter both in-car gameplay (mission-based and similar to Road Rage) and on-foot levels, where players can control the likes of Homer, Bart Lisa, Apu and others! Simpsons Hit & Run will be released on all three systems.

There are also some screenshots but I won't rip em off of PGC.

10 Screenshots

The last of of Bart at Moes' looks pretty cool although its a bit blurry to me...

All the shots are sorta dark, I dunno if thats intentional or not.

I'm probably gonna lose all my cred by saying this, but I fucking LOVE Simpsons Road Rage. I prefer it to Crazy Taxi, which as a series has just become a parody of itself, and only the original years-old version is available on the Cube anyway. For me, as a Simpsons nut, RR is something that really makes you feel a part of the SImpsons universe.

Hey, that looks pretty damn cool. I've always wanted a Simpsons video game in which I could go around to a bunch of the places in the show on foot, in 3D.

I love Road Rage just as much as Crazy Taxi, so you are not alone.
