Refereeing is Ridiculous....

Like a few others have mentioned, I don't think it is as much a "Lakers" bias as it is a "champions" bias. I know a lot of people out there think that winning a championship gives you the right to just "get calls your way" but to me that is a load of shit and it makes it an un-even playing field. We have seen this before when Jordan would draw fouls where the player charged was a good three feet away from him. It is crap and there is not enough accountability for shitty officiating.

Ok where to start? First off, the Lakers have hardly had these blowout playoff series over the past 3 years. 2001 was really the only dominant year they had. In 2000 they got the gift of a lifetime in Portland's huge game 7 4th quarter choke job. Last year they got some calls vs. the Kings and hit a few lucky shots, but were essentially outplayed for much of that series.

Anyway, playoff interest gets to a peak when someone beats the champ in a major series (DBacks/Yanks). Since no one in hell from the East is doing anything in the finals, the closest thing to a money series is maybe a rematch of LA/SAC or LA/Dallas.

The Lakers are like the Guerreros... They CHEAT 2 WIN.

Here's to hoping the Wolves can overcome the Refs and the Lakers tonight.

lets put it this way: inthe case of the Yankees, they do NOT have the umpires or the league front office in their back pocket. They simply have an owner who is borderline manical about winning, so he goes out and gets the best players he can.

THAT'S why the Yankees won so much. But even I, a Yankee fan from 1976, don't think that they should win every year, and I don;t see MLB "fixing" things to ensure that they do. If anything, since that "luxury tax" was established, MLB is try to make sure that the Yankees *don;t* win every year, thanks to the bitching and whining of "small-market" teams that would rather pocket the money they make from ticket sales and the like instead of trying to improve their ball club.

In the case of the Lakers (being a fan of Showtime in the 80s), David Stern with Kobe Bryant is like Vince McMahon with HHH and hosses. Stern wants the next Jordan, and Kobe is the closest thing to it (I would say too close to being the next MJ, but thats my opinion), so Stern will do what he can to tip the scales in the Lakers' favor, and he got found out during Game 3.

I'm down on the Lakers because of Phil Jackson's arrogance wrapped in a cloak of Zen Master bullshit, I severely dislike the attitude of Shaq (hence my gloss of him being the World's Biggest 12 Year Old), for his refusal to stay in shape and taking care of injuries when they occur instead of costing his team a 5-15 record without him, and while I respect Kobe to all hell, his selfishness and desire to be the next MJ has also cost his team wins since day one, not to mention the overall insufferable attitude of the team when they DO win, which has gotten worse and worse with every championship they have gotten.

I shudder to think how high the arrogance factor will be if the Lakers do manage to win the championship this year.

When I say that this current Lakers squad is among the best in NBA history I mean from 1999( when all the players were assembled) to present day 2003. The Lakers rank among at least the Top 10 in NBA history. Not many teams can say they won 3 in a row. Not many teams have won championships without home court advantage. Not many teams can say they dominated teams in a 15-1 run to a championship. Not teams have the most dominant player in the NBA as their center. the Lakers are bar-none the best playoff road team in the history of the playoffs. Not many teams can pull out of a big hole to a 5th seed in one season. The Lakershave fought and earned their rigt to be called one of the best teams in NBA history
