Fastlane and John Doe better get renewed

While both episodes were a little underwhelming at minor points, both episodes ended like a season finale should. It leaves you wondering what the fuck is going to happen. I want to see what happens, and if Fox cancels these to make room for two more shows who will get the same exact ratings and probably not be as good, somebody's getting shot.

Fastlane is Certain to get canned...It lost a NICE slot time and was shunted to the death slot and is very costy to make for it's low ratings...

Okay, I'm not good with remembering names of characters.

Whitey = White guy

Bill = Bill Bellamy

Kelly = Tiffani Amber

Jay = Jay Mohr, the asshole who investigates the shop.

Evan = The criminal who Kelly trained.

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

The show starts off when Evan does a phone call to the three. A Russian (?) is coming to the country illegally on the train, he tells them. The three meet him and begin to arrest him. Evan calls them, and tells Kelly to move a little bit. Evan snipers the guy. He then reveals that three families have injested the drug that affected Whitey last week. Evan reveals why he's doing this; a bank two miles from the Candyshack holds three huge fucking cases full of diamonds. Evan also has a girlfriend who works at the bank. And he wants the three to help him get the diamonds in exchange for slowly revealing who injested the drug. Jay, meanwhile, is snooping around because of the deaths that occured in the last episode.

They successfully get the diamonds using a gas that knocks everyone in the building, but not without a little complication with the police that Kelly prevents from going further. They deliver the diamonds to Evan, who is in a car in a vacant parking lot. Whitey gets pissed and drives the truck right into Evan's, killing him and spilling diamonds all over the place. Groups of people line up to get the diamonds, and there's a pretty funny exchange where Bill tells everyone that they have two minutes to get a "handful" before they step in.

As the episode comes to a close, Jay is now in charge of the candy shack. Whitey and Bill get a call once again. "I want the diamonds or I start mailing body parts." She has Kelly tied up, and relating to the heroine problem Kelly had ten episodes back, she injects Kelly with heroine quite painfully in her leg as the episode comes to a close.

If the show gets canceled, the producers better fucking reveal what was supposed to happen.

I think its gonna get renewed...it ebbter at least. Fastlane that is...John Doe never really cought my attention...seemed like a pretender wannabe.

If they cancel fastlane, that;; be like the 4th show this year a network has canceled that I liked

Well the big twist on Doe I saw coming in the last 10 minutes, but damn I still got a charge out of seeing it unfold on the screen. I will be VERY pissed if Doe gets cancelled.

I also like Fastlane and love Mohr as the smarmy jackass IA guy, but I'm realistic. The show looks like it costs an assload of money per episode and apparently hasn't done very well in the ratings. While I hope they do bring it back for no other reason than letting me get my Tiffani fix for the week, I'm not planning on it.

Same here, man...

The good news is that the replay should be on MTV tomorrow night and Sunday.

Let me just say that the lovely twist at the end of the season finale of John Doe is a major reason I need to have it renewed.

Only one problem with the season finale. At our household here, there will not be any discussion about it.

As my sister went into histerics over the whole ending. Still does if you mention the specific thing in the ending.

Anyone who has watched the finale knows what I mean about it.

What happened in the John Doe finale?

In the John Doe finale (and some thoughts):

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

The show opens with Doe, Digger, and the cops coming back from a silent film. Doe starts getting psychic flashes from Jimmy (Johnny?), the psychic they rescued in the previous episode, of a clock, some valves, and the map symbol for electric lines. He wanders off into the night, passes out, and wakes up in a park. When he makes it back to the bar, Digger and he have another heart to heart and Digger promises to always be there for him.

By a river, a man is found with his face and hands burnt off. When examining him, Doe discovers that the man had been killed in the manner that the Phoenix group kill their own (small stab wound to the back of the neck), that the man has minor arthritis in his shoulder which could come from repetitive motion, and a fish scale in the hair on his arm. These facts, combined with the psychic flashes, lead Doe to a fish cannery where the Phoenix group had had the psychics tied up and searching for something. The NSA guy finds Doe there and they both caputre the balding Phoenix guy.

The NSA guy and Doe interrogate the balding Phoenix guy, discover that he's no a deaf-mute, he seems to have the same amount of knowledge in his head as Doe (or, at least, has good linquistic skills), and he tells Doe that he, Doe, will lead the Phoenix group to their destiny. The balding Phoenix dude then escapes using psychic powers (telekinesis to escape some handcuffs and, it seemed, like teleportation to get out of a locked cell with cameras that fuzzed out).

The NSA guy takes Doe to a guy who used to run a remote viewing project for the government but who now hates the world and lives on an Indian reservation while waiting for society to end itself. The remote viewing guy helps Doe harness his own psychic abilities to find Jimmy (Johnny?) and Theresa, the psychics, who are now in a copper mine with the Phoenix guys, trying to find something. NSA guy, Doe and the cops go to the copper mine to rescue the psychics.

In the copper mine, amidst the Phoenix guys, is the guy in the overcoat and stocking cap who we've only seen from behind or the side. He's apparently the leader of the group. The psychics find what they were looking for, which is apparently held in the Vatican, and the stocking cap guy says that their destiny is upon them. At that point the balding Phoenix guy rushes in and tells them that the psychics betrayed them. The cops burst in at that point, the balding Phoenix guy kills Jimmy (Johnny?), and the stocking cap guy takes Theresa down a pathway. Doe pursues. Stocking cap guy uses telekinesis to push a cart at Doe, but Doe jumps it. Stocking cap guy tries to climb with Theresa out of the mine, but Doe pulls Theresa away from him. While getting out of the shaft, the stocking cap comes off of the guy's head and we see that he's Digger, or someone who looks like Digger.

I'm not entirely sure I like the twist. As was mentioned, in the last ten or so minutes, it became pretty obvious who is was going to be, what with Digger always saying he'd be there for Doe, but he wasn't even mentioned previous to the assault on the copper mine. And then if Digger had resources and power, he probably wouldn't have gotten caught in the Mars module in that one episode. But I do like the idea that Digger was always watching over Doe carefully. I'm not to thrilled with the idea that it might be a clone or a twin or something like that (I really hope they don't go that way).

I do, however, like the introduction of the metaphysical elements to the show. The first season was very stepped in science and explainable things. It'll be nice to see how they handle things that are outside of science and how Doe can work with them.

I saw the twist coming too. As soon as the NSA guy started talking about Stocking Cap, and how no one has ever seen his face, I thought to myself, "Self, just you watch, they'll probably....

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

wind up making Digger the bad guy. And low and behold, they did.

I hope they renew the show as well. It's pretty decent.

As for Fastlane, I can't say that I watch the show really at all, but I will if they do two things: Keep Jay Mohr on, and make Tiffani a total heroin slut who will fuck for smack.

Thanks redfile.

John Doe is the better of the two shows, IMO. Fastlane is OK, but it gets old after 25 minutes.
