Guest Andy Report post Posted April 26, 2003 I just brought a few ecw dvds and I haven't seen any reviews of them so I was wondering what you thoguht of them? They are: The Doctor is in As Good as it gets A Matter of Respect 1998 Cyberslam 1999 Ironically, you seem to have picked up four of the very few ECW DVD's I don't have. I'd be interested to know your thoughts on them when you've watched them. Cheers - A.
Guest Pigsy Report post Posted April 26, 2003 (edited) I've got Cyberslam 1999, and I think it's a good show. This is based on memory, so this isn't in order: Credible-Douglas: I really like that match. One of my favourite ECW matches (though I've not seen that many). RVD-Scorpio: Not that good, rather underwhelming, IMO. Nova had a match I think, can't remember who his opponent was. Pretty forgettable. The Storm-Dreamer segment was a decent segment. Nothing worth going out of your way to see, but better than a lot of non- wrestling segments I've seen on other PPVs (or even free tv). TAKA~!-Papi Chulo: I enjoyed this. Chulo looked a bit green, but it was still good. Lynn-Tajiri: Good match. Tajiri looked completely different. Super Crazy-Some other guy whose name I forget: Fun match. Cage match: Dull. I want to see wrestlers doing stuff, not sitting there cutting each other open. IMO, blood can add to a match, but blood alone won't make a match good. (BTW, I think there's a review of Cyberslam 1999 at http://rollinggermans.8m.com/) I'd be interested in your thoughts on the other DVDs, as I'm interested in getting some older ECW stuff. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 26, 2003 I love Cyberslam 99 for Credible vs Douglas, great 20+ minute match. I'd go with Matter of Respect 96 over 98 though/
Guest jm29195 Report post Posted April 26, 2003 I just watched As Good as it Gets and I thought it was well worth the price I paid (15 quid from HMV) Credible vs Lynn was decent - Credible and lyn's debuts and Lyn has no goatee! Storm vs Candido was also a strong technincal effort and went 15-20 minutes I think Douglas vs La Fon was one of the better Douglas matches I've seen- the best being the previously mentioned Credibe/Douglas match from Cyberslam match which blew away everything I'd seen from Douglas before, I didn't think he could work like that anymore!! Bigelow vs Spike was ok for what it was and includes the surreal body-surfing bit- you'll understand it when you see it... Sabu vs Sandman .... well it was better than one of their other matches I've seen November 2 Remember 97 but not as good as their October 1998 one Matter of Respect 98 wasn't as good but it has 2/3 falls Credible vs Lynn on it which I thoguht was good, Bigelow vs Snow which was good (I heard that Snow left ECW after headlining Wrestlepalooza 98 but this was at least a month after that) RVD/Storm vs Sabu/Candido was probably the best match on the card, very long and action packed... The 6 man stairway to Hell match was a bloody brawl but just the usual from the guys involved (Dudleys/Dreaner/Sandman Cyberslam 1999 was another good event- I thoguht everything on the card was worth watching apart from Nova vs Rod Price and the wargames match at the end was another long bloody brawl but nothing like the nwa/wcw ones.... It also had the bets perfomances from Douglas/Credible I've ever seen and I think Scorpios last US appearance. It also had a higher wrestling quality than I expect form ECW with Lynn/Tajiri, Candio/Tazz, Crazy/Merced and Michinoku/Chulo also good technical stuff The Doctor is In is much earlier (summer 96) Good matches are Scorpio/Jericho (Jericho's last ecw match) Sabu/RVD- Stretcher match Johnny Smith/Spicolli- very good considering I hadn't heard of Smith- where is he now... I'd love to see Benoit/Smith... Richards/Sandman and Dreamer/Williams vs Tazz/Lee is also pretty good

Guest jm29195 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Yeah thanks for that, does anyone know if the ecw ppv dvds from 1999-early 2000 have the original music on them or the crappy dubbed over versions? Just wtched November 2 Remeber 95 and Terry Funk's wrestlefest aswell.. Wrestlefest is imo very good with Taz/Candido, Mankind/Sabu, Hart/Funk, Douglas/Dreamer and Headhunters/Jake vs Hayabasu/Hakushi/Tanaka all being entertaining in wildly different ways N2R 95 is also really good, all the matches are either really entertainig or serve to further angles in the context of the show
Guest Anorak Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Anybody picked up the first Hardcore TV DVD yet?
Guest jm29195 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Nope but I'm getting it on Saturday, I'll probably post my thoughts on it here then, does anyone know what's on it and if it's any good, I can see Benoit, Malenko and Foley on the front cover so I'm buying it on the basis that anything with them on it should at least be interesting to see how they've come along since then....
