Mortal Kombat VI

Midway announced Mortal Kombat VI for all console systems, the game will be coming out in 2004, and there is a possibility that the game will have online support.

Well since DA was a step in the right direction, I'm actually looking forward to this.

First off, IGN and PSM acting all excited and putting over how they got the exclusive first hand scoop on MK VI is funny considering the MK online kommunity has known all of this stuff they're reporting for months now.

Ed Boon says the game is going to be built from scratch like MKDA was. John Vogel says they may use the same engine and just tweak it. Not sure what's up with that. They may be planning two sequels. One which is like a Champion Edition or Turbo version of MKDA to come out this year, and then a full blown MK6 in 2004. That would not surprise me at all. For one reason, Midway needs the money and DA sold 2 million copies in a matter of months. Secondly an upgrade to MKDA for GBA is being released called Tournament Edition and I would think they would have a console upgrade to go with it.

You can pretty much count on The Dragon King being in the game.

Another MK? Cool, I hated MK3, it got annoying to fight Sub Zero..he'd just block and combo you to death. <_<

I still haven't played V. I'd like to, and I've heard good things, but I honestly miss the old school MK greatly.

MK3 > MK II.

I'll take issue with that. I personally loved MK2 over MK3. It just felt more special and was funner to play.

Yeah I agree with that. The problem with MK3 was it wasnt a big (or little) step up from MK2, and since I already had my "fun" period of play with MK2 the game was really lacking the gameplay that I wanted.

If they upgrade DA....it should just be an add on disc that comes with the OXM (Official Xbox Magazine), or be downloaded from Xbox Live.

Wow, more MK games for all. My favorites were MK 3 and MK 4. I didn't like DA that much. The engine blows.......

MK II is very, very slow. The game has always been a turtles dream. MK3 is a lot faster and the run button and chains make it harder to just sit around retaliating the entire time like everyone does in MK II.

MK II's combo system is far too simple and though MK3 isn't deep by any stretch of the imagination it at least has the chain combos and more room for juggles. I've never understood how the chain combos are "cheap" either.

MK II introduced classics like Kitana and Baraka, but MK3 has far more people I love. Kabal, Sektor, Cyrax, Stryker and Sindel all own. Plus everyone that is in MK II eventually made their way into the upgrades.

Outworld was a cool setting but I like post-armageddon Chicago too. The Balcony, Graveyard, Temple and Shao Kahn Tower are just as good, if not better, than The Living Forest and Portal.

Sakura, what's the scoop on this game being pimped as created by one half of the original MK creators?

Good, Bad, Indifferent?

It's ok. I enjoyed beating the Quest Mode. It's nothing great or anything I'd really recomend though.

Doesn't really play like MK or anything.

They have some really good ideas. The stages are good, breaking limbs is cool. The problem is the engine just isn't that great, it's really stiff and there isn't much to it.

Well if you enjoy MK3 more that's fine. I however don't.
