Guest dc_tapes Report post Posted April 27, 2003 Its been a while since I last played it, but heres what I remember: Pros: Grapply system is pretty fun Nice selection of moves in CAW Lots of Tights, Shirts etc to choose from lots of interviews with the wrestlers (PS2/Xbox only I think) Cons: Limited amount of faces to choose from, and they all look the same You have to earn coins and then "gamble" for other coins to unlock stuff The gambling system might not sound too bad, but I find it frustrating as hell. I'm not sure about the amount of CAW slots since I've only made two guys. It might also depend on which system you have. As far being able to create the guys you mentioned, you might be able to make an accurate body, but the face and hair selection is extremely small so alot of them look the same. After beating the shit out of your opponent for a while, you can get them down on the mat and drive weapons into them. The cool thing is that you can make them gig like Muta, and turn the ring red in some places. Cuts actually get worse as you work on them in this game. Yup, that's about it... The grapple system is good, IMO. If you've played LoW I you'll know what to expect. The CAW system is limited. You have a limited number of faces (basically one face with different expressions) to choose from. The types of hair are limited (and there's no ponytail which is annoying), but you can change hair colour, shade and brightness. There's a variety of clothes, kneepads, elbowpads, etc. The create-a-stencil feature means you can make your own tattoos, t-shirt logos, face paint, etc. (I don't think this is in all versions, though). You can find some pictures of CAWs here to get an idea of what you can do with the CAW system (it's not my site BTW). There's a decent selection of moves, with some trademark moves, such as the stunner, rock bottom, and pedigree, albeit with different names. Lots of taunts to choose from (if you care). You can get the announcer to announce various names of wrestlers not in the game, such as Rick Rude, Ric Flair, Lex Luger, Cactus Jack and lots of others. I'm not sure how many CAWs you can save, I think it depends on your memory card. At the moment I have seven CAWs, so it's atleast seven. The gambling system for unlocking stuff is annoying, as mentioned previously. The interviews are generally good, although Hacksaw Jim Duggan comes across as a sad man out of touch with reality (but that's just my opinion). There's a more in depth review here. You might like this, you might not. If anything, rent it. Because it really depends on the kind of gamer you are. Personall I thought it was a pretty good game. My best friend despises the games control system, but I think its good, albeit a wee bit clunky. DJV kicks the ass of every wrestling game out for the PS2 at this given moment. Fact is, it's No Mercy on speed minus a CAW feature. And honestly, because it had no CAW feature, I didn't buy it.
