I don't rate middle relievers.  Most of them are interchangable.

False.  The Yankees found that out last year after they lost Nelson.

I said "most."

Still, I stand by my opinion.

They made the World Series without Nelson.  Anyway, it is mostly true, cause the best middle relievers become closers or sometimes starters.

Well, a quick Google search gave me these figures. These are all 2001 opening day salaries, so the current figure is more. The info was taken from CBSsportsline.com. In addition, I may have added incorrectly, and I’m too damn lazy to double-check.

C: Ivan Rodriguez, Texas --  $ 8.6 million

1B: Tino Martinez, St. Louis --  $ 6 m

2B: Roberto Alomar, New York M. --  $ 7.3 m

3B: Chipper Jones, Atlanta --  $ 10.3 m

SS: Derek Jeter, New York Y. --  $ 12.6 m

CF: Andruw Jones, Atlanta --  $ 8.2 m

RF: Ichiro Sazuki, Seattle --  $ 5 m

LF: Barry Bonds, San Fransico --  $ 10.3 m

OF: Sammy Sosa, Chicago C. --  $ 12 m

OF: Magglio Ordonez, Chicago W. --  $ 3.7 m

C: Jorge Posada, New York Y. --  $ 4 m

INF: Alex Rodriguez, Texas --  $ 22 m

INF: Jason Giambi, New York Y. --  $ 4.1  m

INF: Albert Pujols, St. Louis --  $ 200 thousand

RHP: Curt Schilling, Arizona --  $ 6.5 m

LHP: Randy Johnson, Arizona --  $ 13.3 m

RHP: Greg Maddux, Atlanta --  $ 13.1 m

RHP: Roger Clemens, New York Y. --  $ 10.3 m

LHP: Freddy Garcia, Seattle --  $ 425 k

RHP: Mariano Rivera, New York Y. --  $ 9.1 m

RHP: Ramiro Mendoza, New York Y. --  $ 1.6 m

RHP: Trevor Hoffman, San Diego --  $ 6.6 m

RHP: Kazuhiro Sazuki, Seattle --  $ 5 m

RHP: Jason Isringhaussen, St. Louis --  $ 3.3 m

RHP: Ugeth Urbina, Boston --  $ 4.2 m

Total: $187,725,000

Jericho, I hope you saved your pennies. You’d have to have quite a few sellouts and one hell of a TV deal to handle this payroll.

Yeah, 2002 salaries would be considerably more.  Although if you came up with pre-free agency players (Pujols, Jimmy Rollins, Roy Oswalt, Alfonso Soriano, etc.) you could come up with a great team on a Minnesota Twins budget.

Chipper Jones doesn't play 3B anymore. Just thought I'd mention it.

It won't be official until the season after he gets moved.  Since he played 3rd Base last year, he is still qualified as a third baseman.

The whole idea of picking an all MLB team before the season even starts is difficult. Do you make your picks by last year's numbers, or more overall numbers. How do you know someone like Darrin Erstad won't hit like he did in 2000, or Ichiro won't struggle this year.
