Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted April 27, 2003 ESPN has a new poll up where you grade teams' drafts, here. uh, that is all.
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted April 27, 2003 8.6% grade the Eagles draft an F. Good to see the mentally handicapped are being taught how to use technology.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted April 27, 2003 Why in the holy hell did 32% give the Vikings an F?
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted April 27, 2003 I would imagine that is just for them bumblefucking around in the 1st round as opposed to their picks.

Guest DrTom Report post Posted April 27, 2003 Eh, grading each team would take a while and make me look at all the picks. That's more time than I care to spend on a silly little web activity. ::gives the Ravens, Bengals, and Eagles an A::
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted April 27, 2003 I can't give the Bengals an A because I think Carson Palmer sucks and they got a better pick in each of the next 3 rounds than him. I liked the Cowboys and Lions drafts.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted April 27, 2003 Palmer doesn't suck. He has some weaknesses (not a leader, accuracy plummets past short range, etc), but he doesn't suck. His mechanics are very sound, and he has at least a year to learn the Bengals' system. I don't think he's as good as some of the hype paints him out to be, but I do think he'll be a good starting QB in the NFL.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted April 28, 2003 (edited) I would imagine that is just for them bumblefucking around in the 1st round as opposed to their picks. Actually, Sal Palantonio (sp?) was on WIP (Philly sports-talk station) this morning, basically saying the Vikings *didn't* mess up. What he said was: 1) Balt. and Jax. both wanted Leftwich, although some in Balt. wanted Kyle Boler instead 2) Balt. needed to move ahead of Jax. to get Leftwich 3) in order to do so, they needed to trade w/ Min. 4) Jax. had Min. on the phone in the guise of working out a trade, but really just to keep them tied up in hopes that Min.'s time would expire and/or Min. couldn't work a trade w/ Balt. 5) time ran out, Jax. got Leftwich, and Balt. got screwed 5) Min. still got the guy they wanted, anyway So, Min. got used by Jax., but Min. ended up w/ the guy they wanted, so they really didn't mess up. Guest PencilJobber Report post Posted April 28, 2003 Fans giving points for the Draft never made sense to me most casual fans only know say 50 college guys who aren't a player on there favourite college team so them grading it makes no sense because they normally just listen to what the experts say about a teams draft and copy there grade or just place there rating on the first 2 rounds when in reality its the un-known guys who make a draft class succesful.I mean the Vikings had a good draft gibing them a F just because they screwed up there timing is just ignorant they should have a C at the least also i'm Happy with the Draft of my colts i think Doss will be a great safety and a great leader on the team and Clark will become a good TE and we filled some other needs which did us great. Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted April 28, 2003 I'm a huge Palmer fan. He was a top ranked recruit coming out of HS, but it wasn't until his Senior year that Norm Chow, was able tap his potential. If Cincinnati has a good QB's coach who can continue his progress he's a Pro Bowl caliber player.

I heard that too and read articles about that before my post actually. But for about 15 hours during the draft the perception was that the Vikings screwed up again. When they are only partly to blame. Pushing it that long in the first place gets them about 50% of the blame in my book.
Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted April 28, 2003 I gave the Jaguars a C, and it looks like most disagreed with me - 48% gave them an A. I gave them a C mostly cause a lot of their draft picks will need to adjust or won't play much this year. I like Leftwich, but he's better off sitting a year and working on things like his release than starting. I don't know how well the small school guys we drafted (Mathis, Young, and the guy from Howard) are going to adjust to the NFL. On the positive side, Manuwai will help the offensive line and give it some more physicality. I'm still wondering why Jacksonville didn't take a wide reciever since they needed a guy opposite Smith so bad (why take the safety Young when safety is pretty well-stocked), but Wrightster was a nice pick. Brady had one good season and that was it, Wrighster should be a nice addition with his pass-catching ablilities which makes up for not drafting a wideout. I heard on ESPN that the trade between Baltimore and Minnesota had been agreed upon, but Baltimore told Minnesota to call the league offices. When Minnesota called, the league office was busy and there was only 30 seconds left. But that was on Sunday, so Sal probably has the up-to-date information. Pretty sneaky stuff by Jacksonville, I hope karma doesn't come back to bite them in the ass later. As they said on ESPN, it will be very interesting to see how the guys directly/indirectly involved (Leftwich, Williams, Suggs and Boller) perform.
Guest Mad Dog Report post Posted April 29, 2003 Bengals are a definate A. Ravens had a good draft except for the fact that they haven't developed a good QB since back in the days of Kozar. So I don't understand taking an average QB that everyone's high on for one little trick he can do.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted April 29, 2003 The only person who wins is Red McCombs. He saves 3 million. The Vikings team got their guy, but they wanted the 4th and 6th round picks.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted May 1, 2003 What'd y'all think of the Packers Draft? Seeing as my cheeseheadedness went nuts here, I'll answer the question. I think the Pack did an absolutely marvelous job in their draft. I don't know why they keep on stocking up on receivers late in the draft when the receiving corps is deep enough as it is, and needs to be developed up top a bit more with the youngins Ferguson and Walker. In my opinion, they should have gone with building more depth in the linebacking corps and the offensive line, although I understand that the LB's this year were pretty weak. With that said, Nick Barnett was a pretty decent choice, and Kenny Robertson will help to offset the loss of Vonnie Holliday on the d-line (FUCKIN CHIEFS). Although the thing that concerns me is that Nick Barnett is being combed to replace Hardy Nickerson in the middle, and I really don't think you need speed in the middle as much as size and strength. Barnett would be better off replacing Nate Wayne, and with Torrance Marshall maybe FINALLY stepping up and taking over Nickerson's role in the middle. And WHY THE FUCK did they resign Tyrone Davis and Doug Pederson??? Those are two of the most incapable backups I have ever seen. I was disappointed when they let Tod McBride go as that guy has some of the most memorable hits from the secondary in the past couple years, but was happy that Tyrone Williams was gone as that guy has been just absolute ass since 1998 when he took over as a starter for the departing Doug Evans. The offseason has been decent, but it seems like a lot of the players the Pack has acquired are more project/"athletic/coachable but not yet talented" players than actual impact players.
