Guest Choken One Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Of Course this was HUGELY constroversial back in 1998 and I recall USA NETWORK being told by FCC to never re-air any part of that segment again... Has THE ban been since lifted or is it still in effect?
Guest DR PHIL Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 I assume since you said 98, your referring to the hostage incident after judgement day and not the pillman incident of 97. I've never heard of the network never allowing them to re-air any part of the segment. Since they're on TNN now it probably doesn't apply but I doubt TNN would allow something like that to air anyway.
Guest Choken One Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Yes, I mean When Austin kidnapped McMahon and threated to shoot him unless he rehired him... Either USA or WWF were told via FCC to never air that again....I was wondering 5 years later if that was still in effect?
Guest MillenniumMan831 Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 I thought a quick clip of it was re-aired at the X anniversary.
Guest Choken One Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Was it? Ok Then i guess it's been lifted or FCC never noticed...
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 I think you're confusing this with the Austin/Pillman Gun Angle that's on WrestleCrap. Austin "broke into Pillman's House", Pillman was packing heat, and the feed was "lost" while sounds of gunshots rang out.
Guest Choken One Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Nope...I am not...When this Occured WWF was told not to air that footage again... I am NOT mistaken.
cawthon777 Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Yeah, it was very controversial at the time and even I thought it was a little over the line. Of course this was 1998 and the WWF was going so far over the line then that they pushed it back about 10 feet.
Guest MillenniumMan831 Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Just a couple months after this, women's nipples were showin'!
Guest CED Ordonez Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 The incident, if I remember correctly, was Austin putting a fairly realistic gun to McMahon's head as he kneeled in the center of the ring. Austin gets his demands met by McMahon, but he pulls the trigger anyway, shooting out a flag reading "BANG 3:16". The segment ends with Austin spouting off "McMahon 3:16 says 'I just pissed my pants'"(which Vince very visually appeared to have done) before giving Vince a Stunner.
Guest dpac Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 I had front row at that Raw, you can see my buddy, but not me in that poster.
