Guest Bruiser Chong Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 I'm aware that the majority of the people here don't/aren't capable of posting something of worth, but it's sort of annoying to see people posting garbage just to up their post count. I know most people think that your post count makes you better than someone else or whatever, but wouldn't it save some money if people didn't post SO much? I have no problem with posting something worthwhile, but there's a lot of crap here that's only around because higher post counts are being chased after. So why not disable the post counts? People will have less reason to postwhore and people wouldn't get so worked up about them. The boards that have eliminated post counts seem to be hosting a lot less waste of space than the ones that do. I'm sure most of you will flame or whatever, but I'd be very interested to see what would happen if you took away the post counts even for a week.
Guest Nevermortal Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 This idea won't go over too well. Perhaps they could make the counts private as opposed to public?
Guest bob_barron Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Do you ever have anything nice to say about this message board???
Guest Bruiser Chong Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 *looks at name of folder* *looks at threads contained in said folder* *notes many of the threads deal with feedback of site and board* *looks at initial post* Now I see what you mean. What the hell's the matter with me, coming in the site feedback folder of all places to post a suggestion relating to the board. I'm sorry, Bob.
Guest PORNFAQ Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Bob's just mad cuz he's a dork and you're infinitely better than him.
Guest bob_barron Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 There's nothing wrong with it at all. It just seems like you're always complaining about the board that's all
Guest Bruiser Chong Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 I wasn't complaining, I was throwing out a suggestion that may benefit the board.
Guest MrRant Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 (edited) I don't need my post count as I am one of the most beloved posters on this board and have the respect of thousands. Edited April 28, 2003 by MrRant
Guest El Satanico Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 I'd rather see the mods pick a random person monthly or even weekly and either put their post count to zero or a negative number. Make a game out of discouraging post count contests.
Guest PORNFAQ Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 It's a sad day when someone as "respected" at TSM as the great Bob Barron can't tell the difference between a complaint and a suggestion.
Guest bob_barron Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 I never said he was complaining PornFAQ.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 I'd rather see the mods pick a random person monthly or even weekly and either put their post count to zero or a negative number. Make a game out of discouraging post count contests. I love this idea.
Guest HungryJack Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Bob...... by asking if he ever has anything nice to say about the board, you are implying that he is complaining. C'mon. You're a college boy. Anyhow, I support this initiative. Good work Bruiser.
Guest jonstreich Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 I too am in favor of the removal of post counts. They serve no purpose.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 I'd rather see the mods pick a random person monthly or even weekly and either put their post count to zero or a negative number. Make a game out of discouraging post count contests. I volunteer to be the first random person. Dammit Flyboy! Beat me to it! And MidnightExpress?! Curses! I'll show you what's for!
Guest Lil Naitch Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 I've been a member for going on 2 years, I think. I don't post often, and I am sometimes discouraged to see how little I have posted as opposed to how much others have posted. On the other hand... I like post counts. It gives me a goal to work towards, and I don't post for BS. If I have something to say, then I post. Otherwise I read and laugh at everybody else.
