Guest PORNFAQ Report post Posted April 28, 2003 HERE Sounds like a good deal if you have a DVD player capable of playing Region 2 discs. I might possibly jump on this.
Guest DVD Spree Report post Posted April 28, 2003 I should be working right now, but I can personally vouch that each of these discs is FUCKING MIND BLOWINGLY AWESOME - though it's worth bearing in mind that the fifth film is Game of Death 2, the pseduo-sequel to the psuedo-Bruce Lee film; Enter The Dragon is under licence to Warner Home Ent. Each film has been remastered and cleaned up, and now has an anamorphic transfer and great sound. Bey Logan - the best in the business next to the View Askew crew - provides audio commentaries for each flick, and there are a lot of rare photographs, trailers, deleted scenes and interviews on each disc. Particularly of interest is Game of Death: Platinum Edition. I don't think my review is active on teh site any more, but basically Bruce completed 42 minutes of the feature before he stopped filming in 1972, and sadly died before completing it. The footage was bought from Linda Lee and an appalling film was fashioned around only 11 minutes of Lee's original footage, and incorporated none of his ideas. On the Game of Death DVD, that original 42 minute cut is included, and is the best 42 minutes of pure fight footage available, fleshing out the fights with Kareem Abdul Jabbar, the insane nunchaku duel with Dan Inosanto, and the fight with Chi Han Jae (likely a misspelling). ALso, each flick - particularly the Coliseum fight in Way of The Dragon (Return of The Dragon) - is teh uncut, extra-violent version. GO BUY NOW.
Guest Karnage Report post Posted April 28, 2003 But isn't there going to be a Platinum edition of Return/Way Of The Dragon?
Guest DVD Spree Report post Posted April 30, 2003 There have been rumours for a while that a Platinum Edition would see release on the 30th Anniversary of Bruce's death, which is coming up, and - up until very recently, at least - HKL have been working on it. The thing is, the original disc is absolutely packed, and aside from a slightly cleaner transfer (some discs had a spot of slickering in teh COliseum fight) and an alleged 20 minutes of footage that's been missing for twenty years, there really isn't a lot else they can put on the disc. Still, 40.00 for the four other films is still pretty good, and it will still be affordable to upgrade to the Platinum disc if and when it appears.

Guest DVD Spree Report post Posted May 1, 2003 Is that the fight vs Chuck Norris? Yup, that's the one. AWESOME ring psychology for a movie fight. God, I miss Bruce.
