Guest Joe_G Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Got a friend who's relocated to Philly, where he gets Channel 48, which shows a ton of indy wrestling weeknights at Midnight (which he's graciously agreed to tape for me). Here's the schedule: Monday: NWA Wildside (I'm all over this) Tuesday: World Champ. Kickboxing (pass) Wednesday: Dangerous Women of Wrestling: (I'll bite...anyone watch this?) Thursday: CZW Wrestling (not a huge fan, but I'll check out the show) Friday: PWF Pro Wrestling (Is this Steve Corino's fed? Any good?)
Guest Phoenix Fury Legdrop Report post Posted April 30, 2003 CZW's airing BotB matches all month; worth checking out. PWF airs Zero-One matches (mostly in full) a lot, so it's up to your Japanese fandom.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Monday: NWA Wildside (I'm all over this) Eh, not a big fan of Wildside, myself (as an aside, XPW used to air here, while Wildside aired, um, some other time) Tuesday: World Champ. Kickboxing (pass) ROH used to air here, don't know why they pulled it Wednesday: Dangerous Women of Wrestling: (I'll bite...anyone watch this?) DO NOT WATCH. Yeah, some of the girls are good eye candy, but the "wrestling" is just brutally awful Thursday: CZW Wrestling (not a huge fan, but I'll check out the show) CZW is OK. I'll watch if I'm awake. A lot of the stuff I've seen is spot-tacular Friday: PWF Pro Wrestling (Is this Steve Corino's fed? Any good?) Some good action, some bad action. The Zero-1 stuff is good, but the PWF action is pretty hit or miss
Guest Galactic Gigolo Report post Posted April 30, 2003 ROH dropped their show because it wasn't doing much for the product (attendance was very high in Philly thanks to the internet, not TV), though they said on TV that they wanted to dedicate more time to getting the tapes made. Wildside formerly aired at midnight on Friday. When PWF came in, PWF began to air at midnight, with Wildside at 1 AM. And when XPW finished, Wildside began to have themselves a show on Friday still, and a rerun of the show in XPW's old slot. I love Wildside. DWOW has its moments. If you're watching it on a tape that only costs you $1, go for it. Definetly go for the CZW, and to me, PWF is very, very boring for the most part. I enjoy some of the Zero-One stuff of course, but their whole federation just makes me fall asleep. And plus, whenever they have backstage segments (talking to the camera self-interviews, brawls, etc.) it's usually in the BATHROOM. Jesus Christ.
Guest papacita Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I've never watched PWF, but I check out the others from time to time. I was never really able to get into CZW much, and I'd probably like Wildside a little more if their audio wasn't messed up everytime I tune in. I watched that DWOW stuff once or twice, and it's not much at all. Seems more like softcore porn than anything else (which doesn't come across well on network TV). I don't watch that often though. 48 switches up their line-up so often that I don't think I could follow them if I tried. Edit: XPW folded???
Guest Galactic Gigolo Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Not folded, but they won't have another live show till like July or August. They wrote bad checks to WGTW, and as a result, they're gone here.
PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Lucky, bastards... That's a great line up
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted May 1, 2003 I don't watch that often though. 48 switches up their line-up so often that I don't think I could follow them if I tried. 48 has been pretty consistent w/ their wrestling lineup, actually.
Guest papacita Report post Posted May 1, 2003 Maybe so. I'm just saying that since December I've rarely been able to catch the shows at the same time slots for more than two weeks in a row. For instance, I think they were showing WXW at one point (in the Friday slot). I saw one show, liked it and went to tune in next week, but CZW was on in its place. And it seems like Wildside is moved to a different day everytime I tune in. It probably just seems worse because I don't watch the indies as religiously as I did back in the day, but their line-up has changed enough for me in the last few months. Guest Galactic Gigolo Report post Posted May 1, 2003 You liked WXW? My God, I (and most of the people I mentioned it to at indy shows) hated that piece of shit promotion. It's run by Afa, and as a result, at times served as nothing more than a Samoan fingerfuck session. Afa Jr. was all over the main event in that federation despite not knowing how to work properly, the Headshrinkers (or whatever they were called, it was an extremely fat Samu and an extremely fat other Samoan) are in the main events all the time, etc. The wrestling all screamed "straight out of school," as nothing went beyond your basic snoozefest. I guess your're you're the minority, but good riddance to that show.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted May 1, 2003 My public Access channels in the middle of the night feel the need some times to fill dead air space with old wrestling... I Saw a Hour of USWA matches with Jeff Jarrett vs someone else... another time NWA Wildside was on with Doug Furnas vs someone else...
