Guest Evolution Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Hindsight bias -- I knew this match wasn't that good all along. The commentary is god-awful as usual, the finish can be seen easily as a finish that boosts my character while putting Blazenwing down. Bleh. --- "Renegades of Funk" by Rage Against The Machine blares throughout the arena as the camera scans the sellout crowd in Philadelphia for SJL Bringin' The Funk~! The crowd is rowdy tonight in the First Union Center, as the camera pans around to several signs, including "Is Spike Here Tonight?", "The Full Effect", and "Memphis Eel 4 Life". Fade to the King of Hearts himself and Axis, the commentators for tonight's action. Axis: "Hello everyone, and welcome to SJL Bringin' The Funk~! We've got a great card lined up for you tonight from the City of Brotherly Love, full of packed action and stipulations galore! But there's one match that everyone is anticipating tonight..." The camera switches to the huge cage hanging ominously over the ring, looking down on the First Union Center. King: "That's right, tonight, Sean Atlas and SJL World Champion, the Antichrist Superstar Crow will go toe-to-toe inside that cage in a Hell In A Cell match! I can't wait!" Axis: "There's plenty of show to go though, King. First up is a Fatal Four Way for the Television Title! David Blazenwing, Charlie 'Grappler' Matthews and Leo Breslin will battle John Duran and each other for John's SJL Television Title!" King: "Duran has won 4 of his last 5 matches, and I don't see why this match should be any different." Axis: "It's different because he's facing 3 other men, King!" King: "Two of them are new to the fed, and quite green, and the other one is an unstable former superhero! What makes you think John Duran *isn't* going to win?" Axis: "...There's just no convincing you, is there?" King: "Not in the slightest." Axis: "Let's go to the ring for the introductions..." Fade to Funyon, who is primed and ready to introduce the four combatants for the first match. Funyon takes a deep breath and then begins. Funyon: "Ladies and gentlemen...this opening match is a FATAL FOUR WAY CONTEST UNDER E-LIMINATION RULES..." The crowd pops, ready for the action to begin... Funyon: "AND IT IS FOR THE S-J-L TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE CHAMPIONSHIP!" The crowd pops once again, though some mixed boos are added in due to the identity of the person currently in control of the SJL TV Title. "All My Life" by the Foo Fighters starts up. The opening riffs blare through the loudspeakers as bursts of flames shoot up from the stage until Leo finally enters the First Union Center, getting a respectable pop from the crowd, determined as always with that same fire in his eyes. The single spotlight shines on Leo Breslin as he begins his walk towards the ring. Funyon: "Introducing first, weighing in at two hundred and thirty pounds, from Cleveland, Ohio, LEO BRESLINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!" The spotlight follows Breslin down past the shooting flames, moving down the hardwood ramp, all the way to the ring as Breslin slides under the bottom rope, quickly getting to his feet and bouncing up and down with athletic leaps in anticipation for his opponents. A final set of flames shoot high in the air followed by flames from the four different turnbuckles, the song ending abruptly and the lights coming back on in the arena. With that, the lights dim slightly and Charlie Matthews makes his entrance, without any music, accompanied by James Matheson, who is looking spiffy as usual next to the plain "Grappler", dressed in the usual black. Funyon: "Weighing in at two hundred and ninety-nine pounds and accompanied by James Matheson, from Kansas City, Missouri, Charlie "Grappler" Matthews!" Charlie continues his normal walk to the ring, as Matheson gets Charlie pumped up for the match, warming him up a bit. Axis: "There's nothing much that can be said about this guy, King...he's pretty plain. Boring, even." King: "Are you kidding me? Watching him wrestle is like a blast to the past, and I assure you that that is a good thing!" Charlie enters the ring and gives Leo a glance, before warming up some more with some encouragement from Matheson, the crowd looking towards the psychedelic entryway for the next combatant. Suddenly, David Blazenwing's voice rips through the air. Blazenwing: "It's Time to feel the Full Effect!" "The Game" by Motorhead kicks in, the crowd giving David Blazenwing a huge pop as he comes out, throwing up his hands and forming the Blazenwing sign before dropping them and igniting the stage and the blue jean-clad David in a shower of pyro. Funyon: "Weighing in at two hundred and seventy pounds from Oak Creek, Wisconsin, he is 'The Full Effect'...DAVID BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZENWINGGGGGG!" Blazenwing continues his way down towards the ring, but has a very serious look on his face, not even bothering to slap hands with the fans. Focusing on the ring, David slides into the ring on his stomach, going under the bottom rope and getting to his feet, sitting down against a turnbuckle and waiting for the final contestant in this opening match. King: "Here he comes..." "Sinner" by Drowning Pool blares over the loudspeakers, and the crowd immediately bursts into boos as John Duran pulls back the curtain with that smug smile on his face, walking down to the ring with the SJL Television belt around his waist. Once again, he shows off the belt to the crowd, but makes sure to especially point it out to Blazenwing. David seems a little peeved about this, but does nothing. Funyon: "And their opponent, weighing in at two hundred and sixty-five pounds from Champaign, Illinois...he is the SJL TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE CHAMPION, JOHN DURANNNNNNNNNNNNN!" The crowd continues to boo as Duran taunts some fans in the crowd. Some groups of the crowd start up a chant: ...DURAN SUCKS! DURAN SUCKS! DURAN SUCKS!... Duran walks down the ramp, avoiding the ring for the time being and going around it to a fan in the crowd holding a sign reading "Marry Me, Blazenwing!" The woman notices the champion walking towards her and tries to put the sign away, but Duran reaches out to grab the sign. Blazenwing doesn't stand for it, though, and before Duran can rip the sign into pieces, Blazenwing leaves the ring and attacks Duran on the outside, the crowd cheering as David beats down Duran on the outside. Axis: "What's going on, the match hasn't even started!" Confused, Matthew Kivell just goes ahead and calls for the bell to be ringed to start the match. *DING DING DING* King: "There's your bell, Axis." Blazenwing continues to club Duran with right hands on the outside, as Charlie Matthews looks on from inside the ring, distracted from Leo Breslin. Breslin takes advantage of this momentary slip-up and attacks Matthews from behind, almost sending the "Grappler" over the top rope himself. Charlie manages to stay in the ring, but Breslin continues to land right hands on Matthews. Meanwhile, on the outside of the ring, Blazenwing grabs Duran and whips him into the ring apron; John's back slamming against the edge of the apron. David then grabs John again and throws him into the barricade; Duran's back continuing to be punished as it slams into the crowd control device. Axis: "King, it seems that the good guys are in control of this match in the early goings. Any thoughts?" King: "If you consider a man who carries a sledgehammer around a good guy, then I shudder to wonder what you think a bad guy does." After using the outside to work on Duran's back, David throws the champion back into the ring, rolling him under the bottom rope and then sliding under that bottom rope into the ring himself. Meanwhile, in the ring, Leo Breslin chucks Charlie Matthews hard into the turnbuckles. Stunned, Charlie stumbles out of the corner, as Leo charges in, nailing Matthews with a clothesline, Breslin's momentum enough to take the 'Grappler' down. James Matheson looks slightly worried, but still encourages his client. King: "Impressive clothesline from Breslin, but the fact remains that Breslin DOES give up sixty-nine pounds to Charlie Matthews, a fact which can not be rectified with Breslin's strength, or lack there of." Blazenwing brings Duran to his feet, easily bending down and scooping John up before slamming him right down with a textbook scoop slam. Duran manages to get back to his feet easily, but Blazenwing brings him right back down with a clothesline of his own that sends the champion right back down to the mat. Charlie Matthews gets back to his feet, meanwhile, as Breslin, who is behind him, swings him around and kicks him in the midsection, doubling the big man over as Leo grabs both of Charlie's arms and drives his head down into the mat with a double-arm DDT, the crowd cheering as the 'Grappler' grasps his neck in pain. Duran is back to his feet thanks to Blazenwing dragging him up by his jet-black hair. Blazenwing puts John in a front facelock before lifting him up towards the lights, Duran staying perpendicular to the ground for a moment, the blood beginning to run down to his head before David falls back, dropping John down to the mat as the crowd roots David on. Axis: "What is going on with the champion in this match up? If he keeps this up, I don't think that belt will be around his waist for long." King: "Ye of little faith, Axis." Breslin is waiting for Matthews to get to his feet, taunting him, poised and ready to unleash a spear. As the "Grappler" gets to his feet and turns around, Leo charges, bending down and driving his shoulder into Charlie...but Charlie doesn't budge an inch. King: "BWAHAHAHAHAH! Look at that clown! What did I tell you, Axis? Sixty-nine pound differences will come into play eventually!" Matthews looks down at Breslin, who suddenly realizes that he didn't move the old-school wrestler. Charlie clubs Breslin hard in the back, wrapping his arms around Leo's torso and lifting him up onto Matthews' right shoulder. Breslin tries to squirm his two hundred and thirty pound frame out of the grasp of Charlie's arms, but it's too much, as Charlie applies pressure, driving his shoulder into Leo Breslin's back, the crowd booing as Charlie locks in a Canadian backbreaker. Axis: "Talk about old school wrestling, look at that Canadian backbreaker!" While Charlie clinches that Canadian backbreaker on, Blazenwing is slowly bringing the TV champion to his feet. David goes behind Duran, locking his arms around John's waist, but Duran wriggles free and goes behind David, delivering a vicious headbutt to the back of David's head which stuns Blazenwing, making him stumble forward slightly. John then steps in front of Blazenwing, bending down and lifting the 6 foot Blazenwing off his feet, and putting him on Duran's side, turning him parallel to the ground before slamming him back first into the mat with an impressive side slam. Not wasting any time, the TV champion goes for the first pinfall of the match, as Matthew Kivell swings around to count the pinfall. ONE... TWO... KICKOUT! The crowd cheers as Blazenwing kicks out, the action switching over to Charlie Matthews, who gives up trying to make Breslin submit to the Canadian backbreaker, shucking Leo off his shoulder, making Breslin land on his back, which he holds as he rolls over onto his stomach on the mat. However, Matthews doesn't give Leo any time to rest, as Charlie brings Breslin to his feet quickly. Immediately, the "Grappler" sends Leo into the ropes, almost licking his chops, waiting for Leo to come back on the rebound. When Breslin reaches Charlie, Charlie lifts up Leo seemingly without any effort put forth by Matthews at all, driving Leo's spine into the mat with a devastating spinebuster. James Matheson cheers his client on as Matthews continues to manhandle Breslin, especially Leo's back. King: "'Grappler' is taking it to Breslin! You know what he's doing, Axis, right?" Axis: "I think it's obvious--" King: "He's softening up Breslin's back for the Powerbomb!" Axis: "..." Meanwhile, Duran is waiting for David to get back to his feet, bending down slightly... King: "Look at this, Axis! Duran's going to go for the spear! Blazenwing's going down!" Axis: "Let's hope the champion has better luck with the spear than Leo Breslin." King: "Breslin's a twerp. Duran's a man's man." As Blazenwing turns around, the TV champion charges, his shoulder down as it drives into the gut of Blazenwing, immediately sending David back towards the corner. OOH! Blazenwing's back nails the turnbuckle, sending his neck back in a whiplash-like fashion, David not looking too comfortable as Duran gets back to an upright position, cracking his knuckles with loud pops before beginning to take it to David Blazenwing, hitting him with left and right hands, connecting with the midsection and lower back of Blazenwing, unleashing punch after punch. After what must have seemed like an eternity to Blazenwing, Duran finally ends the assault of the punches, grabbing Blazenwing's left arm and sending him into the opposite corner. Blazenwing stumbles out of the corner, dazed and confused, as Duran approaches him. Duran delivers a crushing kick to David's midsection and quickly turns around, grabbing David's neck and dropping down, slamming Blazenwing's head into Duran's left shoulder as John hits a picture-perfect reverse neckbreaker. Axis: "STUNNER! STUNNER! STONE COLD, STONE COLD!" King pauses before responding. King: "...What the hell?" As Duran attempts to dismantle Blazenwing's neck, Breslin is having his back worked on by Charlie Matthews. Matthews clubs Leo in the back a couple of times, before bringing Breslin back to his feet. Matthews steps in front of Leo, swinging Breslin up as if the swinging of a pendulum, before bringing Leo's back down onto the sharp knee of the "Grappler". Leo is in serious pain right now, holding his back as his body falls to the mat, wincing. Axis: "How much more punishment can Leo Breslin's back take?" King: "Not much, since he's a weakling." Matthews looks over to James Matheson, who gives him a thumbs up to signify that Charlie is doing good work, the crowd booing as Charlie goes to cover Breslin. While this transpires, Duran is bringing Blazenwing to his feet after taking him down with the reverse neckbreaker. However, David punches John in the gut, temporarily stunning Duran, but long enough for Blazenwing to get to his feet, as Matthew Kivell swings around to count the pinfall on Breslin. ONE... TWO... NO! Blazenwing, for whatever reason, leaps over and breaks the pinfall! The crowd is confused at first, but some begin to cheer as "Grappler" rolls off Breslin. King: "What the hell is David doing?" Axis: "I think he wants a piece of Matthews, King! He just wanted to get a head start!" Duran goes over to get some more of David, but the "Grappler" has already gotten to his feet and is starting to throw right hands at Blazenwing, so Duran changes his focus to Leo Breslin. David and Charlie begin to exchange right hands, each man getting a couple of shots in before the tables are turned. Finally, Matthews gets the last punch in, grabbing Blazenwing's left arm and whipping him towards the ropes. However, Charlie brings David right on back, holding onto Blazenwing's arm and whipping him back as Matthews come across, sending David down with a wicked short-arm clothesline that gets the crowd booing. As the TV champion brings Leo Breslin--who is holding his back in pain-- to his feet, Matthews quickly goes for the cover on Blazenwing, with Matthew Kivell swinging around once again to count the pinfall. ONE.... TWO... KICKOUT! Blazenwing kicks out without having to put forth much effort, as John whips Leo into the ropes, Duran sending himself into the opposite ropes. On the way back, Duran and Breslin meet, Duran extending his shoulder out and knocking the hell out of Breslin, sending him down to the mat hard, back first, of course, which doesn't help matters for Breslin. John goes for the cover, Kivell getting into position to count the pinfall as soon as possible. ONE... TWO.. KICKOUT! Another close fall, but Breslin isn't done with his stint in this match quite yet. As Duran gets to his feet after trying to pin Leo, he turns around and is met with a hand at his throat. Axis: "Uh-oh!" Matthews grasps Duran by the throat, moving to Duran's right side and lifting the TV champion up before dropping him down with a nice chokeslam. Once again, a pinfall is attempted, this time as Charlie Matthews tries to eliminate John Duran. King: "No, this can't happen to Duran!" ONE... TWO... NO, KICKOUT! Axis: "Three pinfalls later, King, and we still don't have an elimination!" King: "Good thing, too, that was a close call for Duran!" Charlie, frustrated that he couldn't get an elimination under his belt, notices Breslin down on the mat, still holding his back in pain. Axis: "He's going to try and get rid of Breslin, King!" King: "Good call, since Matthews has been working on him for the entire match." While Breslin is on the ground, holding his back in pain, from all the moves that he has taken on the back, Matthews calls for the end. Meanwhile, Duran is up to his feet and is pulling David up as well. Axis: "King, do you have any idea what will happen to Leo if that Powerbomb from Charlie connects!?" King: "Of course! It's going to dismantle Breslin! Keep up the good work, 'Grappler'!" Charlie brings Leo to his feet, before giving Breslin a swift kick to the midsection and putting Leo in a standing headscissors. As John whips Blazenwing into the ropes, Charlie wraps his arms around Leo and lifts him up neck level with Charlie, before descending back down to the mat... OOH! Leo hits the mat hard, bouncing up slightly before going back down to the mat, out cold from the force of the Powerbomb. John hits a couple of right hands to the face of David, before whipping him into the ropes. Duran bounces off the opposite ropes, and goes for a clothesline, but Blazenwing is thinking the same thing, as they both clothesline each other to the mat, the crowd booing as Matthews is the only man left standing. Axis: "That Powerbomb is such a devastating maneuver when used in the hands of Charlie Matthews!" "Grappler" covers Leo, Blazenwing and Duran only now beginning to stir after the double clothesline. Kivell swings around for the cover, the crowd booing Matthews. ONE... TWO... ...... THREE! The crowd continues to boo as Matthews gets back to his feet, celebrating. Funyon: "Leo Breslin has been eliminated!" Axis: "A definite mercy killing by Charlie Matthews, Leo Breslin got broke down early in the match by 'Grappler' with those submission holds, there was no doubt he wasn't going to hang on long." King: "Axis, don't avoid the main point! Blazenwing's alone with 'Grappler' and Duran, this is great!" Charlie gets up after pinning Breslin to celebrate his elimination with Matheson, but it's a little bit premature, as Blazenwing is up to his feet, attacking Matthews from behind with right hands, the crowd's negative reactions turning to cheers. Blazenwing quickly continues his attack, whipping Charlie into the ropes. On the rebound, David pounces on Matthews with a Lou Thesz Press, Matthews sudden stop of momentum enough to bring the almost three hundred pound man down to the mat. Blazenwing lays in right hand after right hand to the head of Charlie, landing at least five right hands, the fans cheering their heads off. David ends the barrage of punches, and gets off the "Grappler" to play to the crowd and get them pumped up. While he does this however, Duran slides into the ring, Blazenwing's back turned to the SJL TV Champion. Axis: "Blazenwing might be in trouble..." The fans try to warn Blazenwing of the impending danger, but it's too late, as Duran approaches David and spins him around, knocking David silly with a right hand, and winding up for a second. The second right hand doesn't connect however, as David blocks it, dragging Duran close to him and locking his arms around the waist of the champion. Before John has time to react, Blazenwing spins as he lifts up Duran, slamming him right back down to the mat quickly with a belly-to-belly suplex. The crowd cheers, assuming Duran will be pinned, but instead, Blazenwing switches his focus back to Charlie. Blazenwing gets to his feet and goes over to Matthews, flipping him over onto his stomach and dragging him to the middle of the ring. By the time Charlie figures out what's going on, it's too late. David drops to one knee, grabbing Charlie's left ankle and starting to twist it, locking on an anklelock. James Matheson looks worried as the "Grappler" begins to squirm, trying to get his way out of this anklelock. However, that just makes Blazenwing tighten the maneuver, increasing the pain for Matthews. Axis: "Why is he attacking Matthews and not Duran?" King: "You fool, he wants Duran alone in the ring!" Blazenwing keeps the anklelock on Charlie, taunting him, waiting for him to tap. Matheson encourages his client not to tap, but it seems that Charlie is about to tap. However, Duran notices what's going on, getting to his feet as quickly as possibly and quickly kicking Blazenwing in the back, breaking the hold and just barely being able to beat Charlie's inevitable tap-out. Axis: "Duran barely got that kick in, King. Very close call there." King: "Blazenwing still has to contend with Duran and Matthews, so I'm happy!" However, Duran does something unexpected, picking up the downed Blazenwing, and chucking him over the top rope, David slamming to the floor on the outside of the ring, as Duran moves over to face off with Charlie Matthews. Axis: "Oh boy, King, this is going to be a showdown of two very big men. This match is about to explode..." Duran brings Matthews to his feet and clocks Charlie with a right hand, the crowd booing John as he winds up again and goes to unload another right hand into Matthews' face...BUT IT'S BLOCKED! Matthews throws a right hand of his own to retaliate, but Duran blocks that! The crowd doesn't know what to make of this seesaw battle between the two big men, until Duran gets his right hand free, bringing it across the face and raking the eyes of the "Grappler". This sends the crowd into a chorus of boos and sends Matthews back a few steps as he holds his eyes. Matthew Kivell immediately gets in the champion's face, warning him about using those kinds of moves. Axis: "What the hell kind of cheap shot was that from Duran?" King: "If it gets him the W, then it doesn't matter, Axis." John acknowledges Kivell's warning with a sarcastic nod and a smirk, before whipping Matthews into the ropes. Matthews comes off the ropes on the rebound, and Duran extends an arm to clothesline Charlie down to the canvas. However, Charlie sees this coming and manages to duck it, sending Duran into a one-eighty turn to catch Matthews on the way back. Charlie rebounds off the ropes again, John extending his arm again, wanting to try the clothesline again. Charlie goes to duck it again, but John fakes him out by kicking him in the midsection, grabbing Charlie in a front facelock and then dropping Matthews' headfirst into the mat with a wicked DDT. King: "Bahahahahahaha! Did you see that? I can't believe Matthews fell for that!" With the "Grappler" down on the mat, facing up towards the lights, Duran bounces off the ropes, getting a nice start before leaping up and dropping a leg across the neck of Matthews. Sensing he is close to eliminating Charlie, John immediately gets his body on Matthews, hooking the leg as Kivell swings around to count the pinfall, the crowd beginning to boo. ONE... TWO... TH-KICKOUT! The crowd cheers as Matthews kicks out, Duran starting to get a little flustered as Matthews gets a shoulder up. John has his back turned to Blazenwing, who is recovering on the outside of the ring, as Duran goes to pick up Charlie. This is a big mistake on the part of the champion, as David slides into the ring behind Duran, the crowd cheering at something that John is not aware of, at least not yet. David waits for Duran to turn around to see what the commotion is all about, and when he does, Blazenwing gets a big running start, catching Duran by surprise with a big boot that crunches the face of Duran and sends him crashing to the mat. The crowd explodes in cheers as the champion falls to the mat. Axis: "What a big boot by Blazenwing! Duran had to have felt the awesome wrath of that boot going into his face!" Blazenwing bounces off the ropes, going up to Duran and leaping up, dropping a leg of his own onto the neck of John Duran, giving the champion a taste of his own medicine as the Full Effect Leg Drop connects, the crowd cheering as Blazenwing goes for the cover. However, Duran takes the easy way out and rolls to the outside to gather his composure, the crowd booing him loudly and some distinct cries of "PUSSY!" ringing out from some of the people in the front row. Axis: "What was that about Duran being a man's man, King? I don't think a man's man would wuss out like that." King: "There's a difference between being a wuss like you, Axis, and being smart. Duran is being smart right here, he's forcing Blazenwing to take the alternative route in this match instead of going outside the ring to chase Duran, where he would likely end up on the short end of the stick." Sure enough, David turns his attention to Charlie Matthews, struggling a bit to bring the three hundred pound man to his feet. Out of nowhere, the "Grappler" lashes out, nailing Blazenwing with a vicious heart punch that sends David backwards and the crowd into a chorus of boos. Matthews quickly gets to an upright position, moving up towards David and unleashing a flurry of punches, right hook, left hook, right hand to the body, another right to the body, left uppercut, right uppercut. Blazenwing is almost knocked off his feet, but Matthews keeps "The Full Effect" steady, moving to David's left side and stepping in front of him, wrapping his right leg around David's left leg and grabbing David, sending him face first into the mat with a Russian legsweep. James Matheson is looking very pleased on the outside as Charlie Matthews goes for the cover. Kivell swings around to make the count, Duran starting to shake the cobwebs out of his head after the Full Effect Leg Drop... ONE... TWO... THR-KICKOUT! BLAZENWING KICKS OUT! Matthews can't believe it, and some of the crowd can't either, but they cheer anyways, Charlie beginning to get frustrated. However, Matheson yells for him to calm down and focus on the match, though one has to wonder if Matthews was able to hear that request over the cheering of the fans. Blazenwing remains down on the mat as 'Grappler' calls for the end once again! Axis: "Are you kidding me? King, Charlie Matthews has been on a roll in this match, and if he can eliminate Blazenwing here, then Duran might have a hard time holding on to his TV title against this man!" King: "I just don't want to see Blazenwing in that ring anymore with those two fine specimen in Charlie Matthews and John Duran!" Charlie brings David to his feet, but before Charlie can give Blazenwing the Powerbomb, Duran slides into the ring and swings Matthews around, trying to kick Charlie in the midsection. However, Charlie anticipates this and grabs John's leg, using his right leg to kick Duran in the midsection and send him doubling over. Charlie puts HIM in a standing headscissors, the crowd actually popping as they assume that Duran will be put out of this match. King: "Wait! No, work together, you two!" Axis: "Sorry King, it's every wrestler for themselves." Charlie lifts Duran up, the crowd in awe at the strength of 'Grappler', before Charlie sends John back down to the mat. BOOM! The sound of Duran hitting the mat is much louder than Breslin smacking the mat, the ring shaking as the TV champion hits the mat. Charlie goes to pin Duran, but Blazenwing sneaks up behind Matthews, and spins Charlie around, James Matheson's warning for Charlie to turn around coming too late as Blazenwing gives Charlie a strong kick to the midsection, before putting Matthews in a standing headscissors. The crowd pops again, as Blazenwing hooks both of 'Grappler's arms. Axis: "BLAZECUTION ON THE WAY!" King: "NO! NO!" Blazenwing leaps up... OOH! Charlie Matthews face is driven into the mat as Blazenwing hits the Blazecution, rolling Matthews over and going for the cover as Matthew Kivell swings around to count the pinfall. Matheson is beside himself, but is encouraging Matthews to kick out. ONE... TWO... THREE! The crowd explodes in cheers as Blazenwing gets to his feet, his focus immediately snapping to Duran, who is still down on the ground after the Powerbomb from Charlie Matthews. Before Funyon can even announce the elimination, David is inching towards John, ready to make another pinfall. Funyon: "Charlie Matthews has been eliminated!" Kivell quickly goes over to Blazenwing, who is pinning Duran, the crowd counting along with the pinfall as Kivell counts. ONE... TWO... THR-NO! KICKOUT! The crowd groans as Duran gets a shoulder up, surprised that Duran kicked out. King: "Phew!" Axis: "David simply waited too long before trying to pin Duran, I'm sure Duran was getting back to his senses by the time Blazenwing made the cover." Blazenwing, beginning to get frustrated at how everything is turning out, tries to get Duran to his feet, but Duran resists for a moment, and then brings his left arm up right into the crotch of "The Full Effect", the crowd booing and yelling at Matthew Kivell, who doesn't suspect anything at all. Axis: "Damnit! Duran gets away with another cheap move!" King: "Why don't you accept that our refs are too damn dumb to catch him?" With David down on the mat, Duran showboats a little bit to the booing fans, before bringing David to his feet. Blazenwing surprises Duran by going behind the champion and locking his arms around John's waist, but John fires some elbows backwards, connecting with the cranium of "The Full Effect", allowing the grip that Blazenwing has on John's waist to loosen. Almost immediately, John takes advantage of the loosened grip and goes behind Blazenwing, bringing David's arms up near his head and locking in a Full Nelson. King: "YES! HAHA, SEE YA, BLAZENWING!" However, Blazenwing quickly swings his left leg back, catching Duran in the crotch and getting even with the Television champion in terms of low blows. John immediately breaks the Full Nelson and falls to the mat as the crowd cheers, some laughing at Duran. Kivell goes over to David and gives him a warning, an action that generates some boos from the crowd. King: "Only a warning? Disqualify that man, Kivell!" Axis: "Duran just hit a low blow on Blazenwing a minute or two ago!" King: "He did?" Axis: "..." Blazenwing takes the advantage, bringing the champion to his feet. Once Duran is upright, David takes Duran's right arm and chucks the champion into the turnbuckle, John whipping back from the force of hitting the turnbuckles. David charges at John in the corner, bending down and nailing the stunned Duran right in the solarplexes with a punishing spear. Blazenwing quickly continues his assault on the champion, the crowd cheering as David connects with right hand after right hand. David connects with five right hands, but Duran catches the sixth, and the roles are reversed, as Blazenwing ends up in the corner, with Duran hitting right hand after right hand. Finally, Duran steps back slightly and places his boot on the windpipe on David, booing as John tries to choke out Blazenwing with his boot. Kivell immediately begins to count for Duran to let go of the move. Kivell: "ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR!" Duran releases the move at the count of "four", Blazenwing slowly being worn down by Duran. John then hoists "The Full Effect" onto the top rope, before climbing to the middle rope himself. Axis: "He's going for the Crash Landing!" John tries to get in position for a Death Valley Driver, but David suddenly fools Duran, pushing Duran off the middle turnbuckle and down to the mat, the crowd exploding as Duran hits the mat. King: "NOOOOO!" Blazenwing gets to his feet on the top rope, the crowd cheering and getting to their feet as David suddenly flies off the top rope...and crashes down onto the champion with a splash! Axis: "MONEY SHOT! THAT'S GOTTA BE ALL SHE WROTE!" Blazenwing automatically goes for the cover, simply hooking Duran's leg as Kivell swings around to make the count, the crowd chanting along with the count. ONE... TWO... THR-KICKOUT! DURAN KICKS OUT! The crowd groans once again, Duran shooting a shoulder up once again to avoid being pinned by "The Full Effect". David, frustrated, quickly gets to his feet, and taking advantage of Duran still being out on the mat, lifts John's two legs up. The crowd cheers again as Blazenwing attempts to step in between John's legs, but Duran pushes David off him, using his powerful legs to send David into the turnbuckle. David bounces off the turnbuckle and comes back towards Duran, Duran getting to his feet and charging David, driving his shoulder into Blazenwing as the cameras flash. John sends David crashing into the turnbuckles, his shoulder seemingly crushing the ribs of Blazenwing. Blazen comes stumbling out slightly, enough for John to get behind him and bend down, sticking his arm in between David's legs, avoiding hitting David down below. King: "RISE AND FALL, THIS IS IT!" John tries to power his way up, but it isn't happening, as he simply has been worn out by this match, and can't bring the two hundred and seventy pound Blazenwing up in the air. David takes this moment of hesitation and capitalizes on it, spinning around and suddenly nailing John with a hard kick to his side, still slightly sore from their last match together. The crowd cheers as John holds his side in pain, Blazenwing grabbing Duran and putting him in a standing headscissors, which sends the crowd up to their feet again as David goes to hook the arms of the champion. Axis: "David is going for the Blazecution!" King: "Get out of it, Duran!" Sure enough, Duran, desperate, gets together whatever strength he can has and puts it forward to send Blazenwing flying over the back of Duran, crashing to the mat as John backdrops his way out of the Blazecution, the crowd groaning after the close call that Duran experienced. Duran bends down, fire running through his eyes, as it seems he's running on adrenaline only now, everything else inside of him having run out in this one moment. He breathes heavily, waiting for David to get to his feet. The crowd boos, some chanting "BLAZENWING! BLAZENWING! BLAZENWING!" as David slowly gets to his feet. The crowd is thinking another spear, but they are proven wrong as Duran simply walks up to Blazenwing, tired of waiting, kicking him in the midsection and doubling him over, grabbing David's left arm and whipping him into the turnbuckle, which seems like such a common move in this opening match, and going to the corner. Something inside Duran seems to snap, as he unleashes a combination of punches to Blazenwing, clocking David with left and rights, breaking Blazenwing down with about ten to fifteen punches before Kivell steps in. Duran tells Kivell that he's alright, and Kivell backs away and lets the match continue as the crowd continues to boo. Axis: "King, Duran has used everything in his power to take down Blazenwing, but it just hasn't been working!" King: "I'm not worried, Duran has probably worked his way out of tougher situations!" Duran, determined, takes Blazenwing up to the top rope once again, the crowd rising to their feet once again, wondering if John can land the Crash Landing this time. However, as Blazenwing rests on the top turnbuckle, John for some reason drags Blazenwing up to his feet with him, putting him in a standing headscissors on the top rope, Duran standing tall over most of the fans in the First Union Center. The crowd is already watching, cameras ready. Axis: "Oh my God, what's going on here? King, that's five hundred and then some pounds on that top turnbuckle...whatever Duran is planning, it will end up nasty." Duran almost lets out a primal scream, exhausted from the match, using the last of his adrenaline to lift the two hundred and seventy pound Blazenwing, turning one-hundred-and-eighty degrees, Blazenwing looking up at the lights as Duran leaps off the top rope, gravity the only factor left as Duran and David fly through the air, the light bulbs flashing. OHHHHHHH! Duran and Blazenwing both hit the mat hard, the ring shaking from the impact of the move, Duran face down on the mat, and Blazenwing face up, looking into the lights of the First Union Center, some of the crowd booing, but most cueing up a simple chant. HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT! Axis: "POWERBOMB FROM THE TOP!" King: "No way Blazenwing can kick out...no way." Axis: "Duran has to cover him first!" Duran suddenly gets to his feet, crawling over to Blazenwing, most of the crowd booing now as Duran, having lost most of his strength and all of his adrenaline in this strenuous match, falls on David's body, hooking the leg as Kivell swings around to make the count... ONE... TWO... THREE! *DING DING DING* Most of the crowd boos, but some claps can be heard as Duran captures the victory with a top rope powerbomb. Funyon: "Here is your winner, and STILL SJL TEEEEEEEEEEEVEEEEEEEEEEE CHAMPION, JOHN DURANNNNNNNNNNN!" Kivell grabs the TV belt and hands it to Duran, sweat running down John's face as he accepts the belt, slowly getting to an upright position and stumbling towards the ropes. Duran leaves the ring, amazed he got out of the four corners match with the TV Title, holding the belt up in victory as the crowd lets loose with vicious boos. Axis: "King, what a hot opening match to open up Bringin' The Funk~! Duran once again captures the TV Title, after a desperation move! I really have to give it to Duran, he pulled out a victory I didn't think he could get! Blazenwing seemed too determined to give up!" King: "I knew he would win it all along." Axis: "...Sure you did. Anyways, our next match is between Spike Jenkins and Kaine, so stay glued in your seat for that one as Bringin' The Funk~! rolls on!"
Guest 5_moves_of_doom Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Hindsight bias -- I knew this match wasn't that good all along. The commentary is god-awful as usual, the finish can be seen easily as a finish that boosts my character while putting Blazenwing down. Bleh. Meh, don't put yourself down. Good enough match, and all three of the matches that I recieved were VERY close. I especially commend Leo, who, even with just a 5k-something match, came very close to beatin the two other (and longer) matches.
Guest GLWUT Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Congratulations to Matthews. I'm hoping to beat him one of these days though! Here's my match, folks. Enjoy, if you can... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The camera’s new shot shows nothing but “Bringin’ The Funk!” spread out across the set, the letters large, bold and bright. The enormous crowd lets out a huge collection of cheers as the camera slowly zooms out, revealing a large stage, constructed of wood. It holds large lava lamps of various colors, and thousands of bubbles shoot up from it, floating about the immediate area, even into the nearby collection of fans. Continuing to zoom out slowly, the camera is eventually revealed to be located all the way on the arena’s other end. The ring, complete with an overhanging disco ball and surrounding shag carpet, is shown before the final view takes shape, encompassing just about the entire arena. Fans hold up thousands of signs, positive and negative, directed towards SJL wrestlers, themselves, or the smelly people around them. A few other cameras catch fans dressed up in vintage clothing, fitting in perfectly with the atmosphere. Some blow bubbles of their own and spread the love, adding to the carefree and fun environment. A new shot takes over, this one of the announcers’ table. Behind it are two sharply dressed retirees, Axis and Suicide King. Axis: Folks… we are in the City of BROTHERLY LOVE for what will likely be a memorable pay-per-view extravaganza. This… is Bringin’ The Funk! We welcome you to the First Union Center, transformed for the night into the psychedelic home of the Smartmarks Junior League! We’ve got a card chock-full of huge matches… including the last two matches for two amazing Juniors! King: We’ll be saying goodbye to Dace Night as he takes on Manson in a NO DISQUALIFICATION AFFAIR. After that we’ll see Sean Atlas attempt to regain the SJL World Title for a second time… before he’s shipped up to SWF along with Dace Night! Axis: That’s not all though. There’re many more matches including a number one contendership match, an Iron Man match for the European Title… and… While Axis talks, King takes a strange item out from under the table and places it in front of him. Axis: And… uh… Kaine versus Spike… Jen… King what the hell is that?! King looks at him, dumbfounded. King: What’s what? Axis: Is that a bong?! King: This? NO! This is… it’s… King looks up at the camera. King: Are we still on? Axis: We sure are. King hurriedly puts the item under the table again. King: Well let’s get to our opening match! What’re we waiting for?! It’s a four-way match, for God’s sake! Axis: I see no reason to postpone it. This first match is a collection of four SJL wrestlers… all of whom want to walk out with the SJL Television Championship. The great thing is… no one has any idea who it’s going to be! It’s a toss up! King: Think again, moron. It’s going to be John Duran. Matthews and Breslin are overrated newbies and Blazenwing is… well… Blazenwing. No doubt in my mind… none at all… is the camera off us yet? Axis: Yes, fool. From behind the curtain comes Charlie Matthews, his manager on his tail, his perfectly cut and brightly colored suit and tie contrasting oddly with Matthews’ down-to-earth demeanor. The big man, in his black tights with matching black boots, stalks down the ramp, the crowd giving him a mild reaction, mostly negative, obviously paying him more attention than they did since his debut. Funyon: Ladies and gentleman, our opening bout is a four corners ELIMINATION match. Making his way to the ring first: weighing in at 299 pounds; hailing from Kansas City, Missouri… Charlie “GRAPPLER” Mattheeeeeeeeeeews! Instead of entering the ring, he simply turns when he reaches the bottom of the hardwood ramp. Matthews remains standing on the shaggy carpet on the side of the ring opposite the ramp. James Matheson is preparing him, talking to him and exaggerating everything he says with over-the-top body language. Matthews seems to take it in, but doesn’t show it. All he does is stare at the entrance for the first of his three opponents to enter behind him. Axis: Ya know what I don’t get, King? Matthews has arguably the most bland and boring entrance this federation has ever seen... Yet we neglected to speak a word during it. King: I was too busy staring at this mammoth beast who has a GREAT chance of coming out on top… greater than anyone else, I’d say. Axis: Matthews is an intimidating man. But I think he knows just as well as anyone with sense that every single person in this match could be the winner, and that’s because you can’t control three people at once… and you could always get caught against two or three men that have decided to team up to get ahead. King: Meh… Matthews knows what to do, and he’ll do it, and he’ll win. The arena darkens, the sporadic flames begin, a spotlight appears at center stage, and the opening of “All My Life” by Foo Fighters hits. This time, the crowd gives a mild positive reaction which is, again, more than Leo Breslin received in his first two matches. He shows up in the spotlight, the flames escaping more quickly and shooting higher upon his arrival. Axis: You know, King. I noticed that our fans are very loud tonight. Leo Breslin isn’t much of anything yet, but the fans are still showing some support for him. King: Oh, don’t mind the fans. They’re just Bringin’ The Funk! Axis: The pay-per-view atmosphere sure does bring out the best of our fans. King: No, not the pay-per-view… the FUNK! Axis: Which is the theme of our… never mind. Funyon: Making his way to the ring… weighing in at 230 pounds and coming to us from Cleveland, Ohio… Leooooooo Breeeeeeesliiiiiiiiiiiin! Sliding in under the bottom rope, Leo hops to his feet and begins leaping up and down. Four new flames shoot out from the four corners of the ring, and the arena almost immediately returns to normal. Axis: If you’ll notice, Leo Breslin is eyeing Charlie Matthews… and James Matheson. He has good reason to do you. In Breslin’s first match, he lost to Charlie. Breslin is taking that professionally and realizes that the better man won. But I’m sure he’s not happy with the fact that Matheson attacked him afterwards… kicked him while he was down, literally… and Matheson has gone without receiving any backlash thus far. King: Tell Breslin to get over it. He’s got better things to worry about. Axis: Oh, don’t think that’s what I mean. Breslin knows what’s on the top of his list, and that’s the title around John Duran’s waist… but until that title emerges from backstage, I think Breslin is going to have Matheson and his little charades on his mind. The arena lights black out as Blazenwing’s voice booms over the speakers: "It's time to feel the Full Effect!" Motorhead's "The Game" starts and David Blazenwing comes out to a the largest crowd reaction thus far. Funyon: And the third competitor: he comes from Oak Creek, Wisconsin, and weighs in at 270 pounds… Daaaviiiiiiiiid Blaaaaaazenwing! He tosses his hands into the Blazenwing pose on the stage, then drops them, igniting the stage in a shower of pyro that‘s accompanied by an increase in the crowd‘s cheers. He slides into the ring on his stomach, then hits all four turnbuckles one after the other. Breslin keeps his distance, his eyes glancing back and forth between his two opponents. Axis: Blazenwing is pumped up for this match, and it shows already. He just looks like he’s on an adrenaline rush. King: He looks like a little kid. Calm down, Blazenwing. The match didn’t even start yet. He’s gotta take a page from Matthews’ book and save all this energy for wrestling… not theatrics. Even Breslin is afraid to approach him because he’s afraid one of his flailing limbs will hit him. Axis: Either way, the fans have taken a liking to him. King: When it comes down it, that’s not what matters. The one that has the gold is the one that matters. Matthews knows that. I even think Breslin knows it. But Blazenwing… I don’t think so. Axis: You’d be surprised. Blazenwing has an agenda, and it’s personally against Duran… the man with the title. We’ll see how it all unfolds though. Drowning Pool's "Sinner" begins as John Duran makes his way on the stage. Not too many theatrics come with John Duran. Along with the music, an intense chorus of boos has started up. Duran is staring intensely at the crowd as they boo him, grimacing in anger as he walks down towards the ring. Funyon: And now making his way to the ring… at 265 pounds, from Champaign, Illinois… the current SJL Television Champion… John Duraaaaaaaaaaaaaan! He stops halfway down the ramp. Looking about him, he seems disgusted by the environment. In a fit of childish rage, he turns to his side and begins viciously stomping away at the bubble maker. The crowd lets out a new set of boos, though somewhat mild, as a mad Duran continues. Duran gets up on the apron and enters the ring, going to the center of the ring and raising his arms, anger and hate apparent in his eyes, before going to the corner and awaiting the bell. Axis: I don’t really get why Duran destroyed that bubble maker but… whatever. King: It’s just not his style. Axis: All I know is that he’s a very angry man, and he’s gonna have to be heading into this match. King: Exactly. Matthews and Duran have the two styles you need to win this match. Breslin’s just a moron, and Blazenwing is in another world. Axis: Matthews needs to get into this ring for the match to begin and… no he doesn’t! Duran has started this match on his own, tossing his title to the outside and rushing at Blazenwing, taking him down with a tackle and beating at him with his fists! King: I love it! Keep it up, Duran, and you’re a shoe-in… until Matthews enters the equation. Axis: Yeah, this match isn’t a match until Matthews is in the ring, which I think is prompting Breslin to hold back. I don’t think he really agrees with what’s going on though, so… no! He definitely does not! Breslin just grabbed Duran by the hair and he’s picking him up… irish whip… clothesline! The fans like Breslin saving Blazenwing! King: I don’t! Duran was going to school on him! Axis: The surprising thing is that Breslin is keeping it at that. He’s got his eyes on Matthews, who is making his way to the steel steps. Matthews reaches the second apron, but stops when Breslin is hit from behind with a forearm by Duran, who didn’t take too kindly to his interference. Meanwhile, Charlie has stepped into the ring, and the referee signals for the bell, which is rung. Matthews stays away from Breslin, and instead focuses his attention on David Blazenwing, who is climbing to his feet after being rescued by Breslin. His prey is turned around and placed in a strong hammerlock, which is reversed by Blazenwing into one of his own. Blazenwing releases, however, and shoves Matthews into the ropes, then delivers the match’s second forearm. He turns Matthews around against the ropes and tosses him into the opposite set, only to take him out with a high and powerful big boot to the face. Axis: This match has split up into two pairings, as one would expect, and the pairs seem pretty evenly matched. King: All of these men can hit high-impact moves, and they will throughout the match. Nothing will stop that. I think this will come down to the man who can take the biggest beating and stand up at the end… or at least avoid keeping his shoulders on the mat for three seconds. Axis: And I think another theme we’ll see throughout this match, besides pairings, is teamwork, no matter how loose it is, between wrestlers. Blazenwing just took out Matthews, and is now on his way to Duran, who is pounding away on a helpless Breslin in the corner. King: He’s actually been doing that for a while… but people chose to watch Matthews’ getting his teeth knocked out. Axis: People should watch what’s going on now, because it’s called teamwork. Blazenwing and Breslin have never been in a ring together before… have never spoken… but they’re both liked by the crowd, and they’re both giving Duran an irish whip and they’re both… pancake on Duran! Breslin and Blazenwing are stomping away on Duran! King: This is sick! It’s not fair! Axis: It’s perfectly fair! As a matter of fact, it’s smart, too! The stomping continues. Matthews doesn’t seem to care much, as he doesn’t rush towards the scene. Instead, he walks rather slowly until he’s behind Blazenwing. Taking position at Blazenwing’s left side, Matthews places his right arm over his shoulders, hooks his right leg around his right, and trips Blazenwing onto his back in a strong Russian leg sweep. Matthews is returning to his feet, his arm on his thigh to help him up, when Breslin places his head between his arm and side and pulls him down, driving his head into the mat with a vicious DDT. Axis: Breslin nailed that one! King: He has to nail a lot more than that for this TV Title. Axis: He’s going for Duran now, the current champion. That might be the smart thing to do here… get rid of the man with the title first so it’s at least guaranteed to change hands. King: Duran is going for that record for longest title reign. He’ll have some major beef if Breslin ends it. This motivation Duran has is unmatched, and he’s already champion! Axis: Either way, Duran is up and placed in suplex position… and Breslin guides him up, over, and down. That move came so easily to Breslin and so naturally, it’s amazing that it causes pain to Duran. But it obviously does… the man’s reaching at his back. King: And now Breslin is going for Blazenwing! What a jerk! Axis: Wait, no he’s not! Breslin is helping Blazenwing up and pointing at Duran. He wants him to pick up the pieces. King: What a jerk! Axis: Blazenwing has no problem with that as Breslin sends him on his way. Breslin turns around and… he’s caught! Charlie Matthews’ massive hand grips the throat of Leo Breslin, practically preventing him from breathing. Breslin tries to weasel his way out, but doesn’t succeed. Matthews puts his other hand between Breslin’s shoulder blades, then proceeds by lifting him off the ground, holding him in the air for a few seconds before crashing back down, dropping to his own knees win the process. King: Holy chokeslam! Breslin is out of breath AND his spine is probably in a few pieces. Axis: Let’s not exaggerate here. In the meantime, Blazenwing has lifted Duran up and is giving him a few punches in a corner. He pulls him out of the corner and doubles him over, putting his head between his legs. Duran is lifted up onto Blazenwing’s shoulders. He’s dropped down onto his back in an impressive power bomb, quick but effective. Blazenwing turns around and is grasped around the throat by Matthews’ hand. Realizing his predicament, Blazenwing reacts quicker than Breslin and sends a hard left hook to Matthews, forcing him to release. Axis: Blazenwing’s out of it and… he’s got Matthews in the same position he had Duran. King: Oh no! Matthews just got crunched with a piledriver. Did you see his neck?! Axis: Blazenwing has effectively taken control of this match. But he sort of owes that to Breslin, who… King: Oh, this just makes me sick! Now Blazenwing is helping up Breslin so he can take care of Matthews. Why don’t they just have tea in the park? Axis: Blazenwing has helped Breslin up and… there’s the man I thought I’d see in this match! Blazenwing just hit a belly-to-belly suplex on an unsuspecting Leo Breslin! I told you he would do anything to win, and that includes putting this loose partnership into danger! King: Trust me, Axis. This is no longer a partnership. If Breslin gets the chance he’ll take care of Blazenwing, and that’s a guarantee. Axis: I’m sure he will. But for now, Breslin is out and Blazenwing is bringing him up for more. Feeling that there’s no time like the present, Blazenwing takes Breslin’s head and places it between his thighs. Next, he hooks the two arms, one after the other, over Breslin’s own back. Before Blazenwing can pull off his Blazecution, Breslin frees his arms and lifts him up over his back, flipping him over with a feat of strength. Blazenwing lands on his feet, thinking he’s helped himself. King: Boot to the gut from Matthews who was waiting in the wings. This is too beautiful! Axis: Matthews is wedged between those massive legs… he’s up… Breslin watches… Blazenwing goes DOWN, and… and look at Breslin! He just grabbed Blazenwing’s legs before they dropped back down to the mat… and he’s puttin’ on the last half of his Breslin Deluxe. King: Blazenwing took a powerbomb from a man who delivers them like few others… and now he’s in a perfectly-executed submission maneuver… a modified boston crab that I think is more painful, personally. Axis: Blazenwing is barely in this world. That powerbomb took so much out of him, it’s amazing he’s even awake. King: You know what surprises me? Matthews is LETTING Breslin do this. I thought he’d be destroying Breslin himself. Axis: Well, I think Matthews realizes something Breslin doesn’t. Matthews gets along with Duran. If Blazenwing is gone, Breslin has NO ONE on his side. I hope Breslin rethinks this. King: I don’t. If it’s down to Duran and Matthews, I’ll be content. More pressure, Breslin… MORE! As if Breslin can hear him, he pulls harder on the legs. At about the same time, John Duran comes into the picture. He gets down on his hands and knees and begins yelling at Blazenwing. King: Duran is absolutely tearing Blazenwing apart with his words. Something about not deserving the title… losing his shot lost week… he doesn’t belong in this match. TRUE THAT! Axis: Blazenwing has the odds stacked against him. And now Duran is telling him to watch this and… oh my. I think I know what’s coming. Duran is mocking Blazenwing… mocking the Blazenwing of old… pulling off some superhero antics and signaling for a Full Effect Leg Drop and… there it is! That was hideously painful on the already tortured neck of Blazenwing! King: Breslin’s pulling harder! He is! Harder! YES! Axis: The crowd is rooting for Blazenwing, and he’s trying, he’s… no he’s given up! David Blazenwing has tapped out after a Powerbomb from Matthews… part of the Breslin Deluxe… and his very own Full Effect Leg Drop DURING that Deluxe. It was too much. Blazenwing may have saved himself tonight. King: I told you, Axis. I TOLD you Breslin would take out Blazenwing if given the chance… and he did, at the first chance he got. Breslin keeps the hold locked on while Blazenwing continues tapping, hard and quick. Duran returns to his previous position and continues telling him that the title belongs to him, but that doesn’t sit very well with Charlie Matthews, who turns Duran over onto his back and grabs his legs in one swift movement. Duran doesn’t have time to escape, allowing Matthews to begin spinning quickly. Axis: It’s the airplane spin! Round and round Matthews goes, holding onto Duran and spinning him around! This is quite entertaining. King: I would think so I didn’t know it was the simultaneous destruction of what could have been the team needed to take Breslin out without a doubt! Now that probably won’t happen. Axis: Speaking of Breslin, he’s let Blazenwing out, and Blazenwing doesn’t look very happy. If you really think about, Blazenwing did it to himself by turning on Breslin early on. He tried having his cake and eating it to, but he did it too early and ended up regurgitating that cake. King: I think we’ve found a nominee for worst analogy of the year award, folks. Axis: Bah. King: Matthews finally lets Duran go… but the guy is dizzy himself! Axis: That’s the downfall to such a brilliant move. Matthews is trying to refocus as he turns and… Breslin takes him under the armpits! SKY HIGH! That did some damage! King: He’s down and dizzy, fo shizzy! Breslin comes up and decides to make his next move on Matthews. He lifts him up and turns him around, placing him in a hammerlock. Breslin’s free arm moves over Matthew’s corresponding shoulder and assists him in lifting the big man, just enough so he can drop him down onto his back and arm, still in the hammerlock until the moment of release. Axis: That was an impressive move from Breslin on a big man, as he decides to go after a recovering Duran. Breslin is behind up and he pulls him down… into a reverse DDT! Gorgeous! King: As much as I don’t like it, Breslin is surviving on his own. Blazenwing didn’t seem to help at all. Axis: Don’t say that yet, King. It’s still rather early. Breslin is going after Duran again, though. Duran’s back is to Breslin’s front again. From that position, Breslin’s right hand reaches in front of Duran, grabbing his left hand and pulling it across his chest. He does the same with the remaining two hands. The cross-arms suplex is complete after Breslin lifts Duran up and drops him onto his back. Breslin comes to his feet, but doesn’t think to turn around, apparently forgetting about Matthews. This allows Matthews to grab Breslin’s neck and bring him down, dropping it onto his shoulder in a neckbreaker that does some damage. King: And Matthews is back in this game! That suplex kept him down for a bit… or it at least allowed him to recover as Breslin was on Duran. Axis: Matthews is going for the kill, it looks! In my opinion, Blazenwing’s elimination was rather quick. Like I said earlier, all of these men pack and immense punch with every move, so it won’t take too much to make an impact and finish someone off. King: This power bomb of his… it’s so damn powerful! Axis: I’m sure he’s perfected it over the years, along with his headlocks and airplane spins. King: He’s got Breslin between those legs of his… and… what’re you doing, Duran?! Axis: He’s got a full nelson locked in… and… FULL NELSON BOMB! He’s got those body scissors on… Matthews is pained in so many ways! King: Swing and flair more wild, Matthews! You’ll hit him with something eventually! Axis: He can’t! Duran still has that full nelson, taking out the arms… and he’s got his strong legs wrapped around his torso! King: Kick your way out, Matthews! Use those feet to get to the ropes! No.. NO! What’re you doing, Breslin! Breslin, after taking a few seconds to recuperate after potentially taking Matthews’ power bomb, grabs Matthews’ right foot with his right hand. With that, Breslin turns around, twisting the leg and positioning the foot over his left knee. Breslin drops down onto his back and places Matthews’ left leg between his own, holding it in place. To finish off the figure four leg lock, Breslin puts his left leg over Matthews’ right foot, pushing down on it, exerting tremendous pressure on the hyper-extended left knee. Axis: Figure four… body scissors… AND a full nelson… and don’t tell me… no way?! AND an ankle lock! Breslin just took that foot of Matthews’ that’s practically in his face and applied an ankle lock to it! Holy shit! King: This is… this is unbelievably… crazy. I don’t even think Matthews has anything to tap the ground with! Axis: He can’t move, and he knows it. He’s given up! He’s yelling it out! He gives up! Matthews is out of this match and it’s officially down to John Duran and Leo Breslin… and the Television Title is at stake! King: NO! Matthews is let out of all FOUR submissions… and… look at Matheson. He’s suddenly quiet, unlike the entire rest of the match. Axis: I did a damn good job ignoring the guy. Why waste my time looking and talking about him? Just a nuisance in my book… the only bad thing Matthews has with him. King: Well, good or not, Matheson is helping Matthews out of the ring. Axis: Breslin and Duran are both on their feet now! If you’ll notice, these men worked together in both of the two eliminations thus far… but that’ll be impossible going down this road. It’s one-on-one now… for something that’ll boost one of these men in the SJL! King: Yeah, I don’t know how they worked together… or why… but they did. Axis: In matches like this, there are no logical reasons. You just do what you can to stay alive and kill other people’s chances of victory. Both these men have done it so far, but now it’s time for the showdown! The two men are nose-to-nose in the center of the ring. Without warning, they both break into a shoulder-and-elbow lockup, which eventually is turned into a headlock by Breslin. Breslin squeezes hard, but is eventually pushed off just enough for Duran to grab the arm and twist it around. The armbar continues as he twists again, Breslin wincing as he hurriedly manages to reverse it and twist Duran’s arm in exchange. From this position, Breslin whips Duran into the ropes and shoves a knee into the midsection on his way back. The doubled over Duran is grabbed around the waist and tossed over in a somewhat rushed and therefore sloppy gordbuster. Axis: Breslin gets an advantage, but it took a little work, and it’s not that big of an advantage. King: John Duran’s a fighter. He’ll come back. Sure enough, Duran is able to come back rather quickly, delivering an unexpected low blow on Breslin as he’s lifting him to his feet. Breslin is given a hard head BUTT, dazing him a bit, allowing Duran the time he needs to lift Breslin off his feet in a powerslam position, but instead toss him backwards in a fallaway slam. King: I told you, Axis. Axis: I never said you were wrong, K-- King: Just admit it. Axis: Breslin is being brought up. He’s on his knees and… explodes up, taking Duran up by his legs at the same time. Breslin’s hand is in Duran’s chest… and it assists him in slamming him down with one hell of a spine buster! King: This is back and forth action to a T, Axis! Duran brings Breslin up by his head, and turns him around. About to hook the waist, Breslin is able to turn around quick enough to hook Duran’s waist. He hoists him up and backwards, letting him go at the exact moment necessary to pull off a flawless release German suplex. Duran is able to get to his feet in a respectable amount of time, however. King: Breslin coming in for a big clothesline and… Duran ducks it! Axis: He hooks the arm! Grabs the left arm… hooks it… full nelson… there it is… SLAM! It’s not a nelson anymore, though… the arms slipped out. Body scissors… we’ve got another Break Point, one of Duran’s finishers! King: Breslin is in a world of hurt, much like Matthews one. The kid’s just lucky there’s no one else to put on another two submission moves. Axis: Wait a minute… there’s a third submission move, but not from Duran! John Duran’s right ankle, hooked around Breslin’s torso, is locked up. King: Breslin… wow… that’s pretty damn resourceful with the ankle lock! Axis: It’s enough to make Duran consider releasing his body scissors! Breslin is lucky Duran couldn’t keep the full nelson locked in this time. King: And Duran’s gotta let go! Breslin escaped. And both men are a little slow to their feet, Duran’s ankle a little weak. Axis: And, of course, Breslin is out of breath and energy, for the most part. Duran favors his ankle a bit as he uses a light limp on his way to Breslin. When he gets to him, he assists him up the rest of the way and tosses him to the ropes. Duran runs in after him, slowly, but Breslin is still able to change the flow of the match when his boot connects with Duran’s face. Breslin creeps out of the corner and grabs Duran’s arm. He moves further out into the center of the ring, bending over when he reaches a safe destination. From that bent position, he wraps Duran’s arm around his head. Breslin hoists Duran up using the head beneath his arm and his own arm, now placed at Duran’s side. The northern lights suplex is accompanied by a bridge. Axis: One… two… thr--Duran is outta there! Ya know, King… if my memory is serving me correctly, that was the first pin attempt of this match. King: I think you’re right, Axis. I don’t know if that’s good or bad. Axis: Either way, you can tell how much this match has taken out of both men, pin attempts or not, as Duran took a while to kick out of a move that doesn’t have that much promise of getting a three count. King: Breslin is bringing Duran up, and he’s readying for what looks like a suplex and… Duran hooks his leg around Breslin’s, blocking it. Anything will work now! Axis: That’s true. And it seems to have worked perfectly! Duran reverses the suplex… bringing Breslin up… Breslin slips out! King: Actually, that ankle of Duran’s looks like it gave a little give. Axis: Either way, Breslin is behind Duran… and he locks the arms in a straightjacket position. Breslin doesn’t go for another arms crossed suplex, but instead bends down, holding the arms in place, and puts his head between Duran’s legs. Using the strong base he’s established, Breslin is able to lift Duran off his feet and onto his shoulders. Breslin takes a few steps forward before dropping Duran onto his back with terrible force. Still holding the arms, Breslin manages to bridge himself from that position, Duran’s shoulders on the mat and his arms held in place by Breslin’s strong grip. Axis: Another pin attempt from Breslin! One… two… THREEEEE! OH MY GOD HE DID IT!\ Funyon: Ladies and gentlemen… the winner of this bout, and NEW SJL Television Champion… LEOOOOOOOO BREEEESLIIIIIIIIIN! The crowd reacts joyously, knowing that Duran’s streak is over, but also knowing that the man who ended it should be appreciated. The cheers continue as “All My Life” hits the loudspeakers one more time. Breslin is handing the title. He hugs it in his arms, and even goes as far as kissing his newly won gold. King: What?! What the hell kinda move was that?! Axis: It was a crossed arms mounted on the shoulder. Pretty damn nice, if you ask me. King: Maybe so, but… Duran’s run is over! Breslin is the Television Champion. Axis: That’s right. And he earned it tonight. King: But Duran won’t break the record now! DAMMIT! Axis: I’m sure Duran will get his return shot… and move on to bigger and better things. But for now, it’s time for US to move on to bigger and better things. This night has just began. Let’s get ready for out next match! King: Watch this, folks! And when we come back, it’s more FUNK with Spike Jenkins versus Kaine!
David Blazenwing 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2003 This is where I would post my match... if I wrote one. Oh well. Eh, I guarantee it wouldn't have been 5k+, however... I can't seem to write a match over 3000 words! Help me! (BTW, nice match, Evolution! At least I was the last man eliminated on yours...)

Guest Crowe Report post Posted May 1, 2003 Do you plan out your matches prior? If not, I recommend you do, even if it is just a basic outline of how the booking in the match is going to pan out. I found this to be extremely useful in busting out matches earlier in my e-fedding "career", and in matches involving more than two men, I still do this. After writing up the booking outline, I always write my finish up FIRST, I find this part to be the easiest and almost always, snaps me out of the writer's block I face everytime I begin a match. I personally follow this up by breaking my match into sections/sequences. Going one at a time, I plan out the wrestling sequence starting from a certain point and finishing at a certain and then write it out in detail. From this, it's basically just planning and writing out each other sequence and linking them all up. ... Wow, I crapped on.
